  • "Went for lunch to celebrate a co-worker's birthday. It's close enough to campus for Duke employees. We all enjoyed our food, and our server was superb! We let the server know we were there for a birthday and she brought a dessert (the most deliciously decadent chocolate dessert...mmmmm!) and with a lit candle - all for our friend. (Thankfully, there was no embarrassing singing!) I was expecting slow service (when it was Papa's Grille, they kind of had a reputation for that,) but was pleasantly surprised. We'll go again!"

  • "This was once Papa’s grill which I miss! This new place has a refreshed inviting décor. For a Wednesday it was very busy happy we had reservations. Food was only average and not up to par with expectations, the prices or the lack of warmth from the hostess. I was disappointing. The hostess, not inviting, no smile, no greeting, no warmth in her voice just ”do you have reservations?” I noticed this with several guest. Not a great way to begin a dining experience. The menu had terrific options. Ordered the lamb burger medium-well but it arrived medium-rare and barely warm. The fries and spinach were delicious. My friend who previously had a great experienced wasn’t impressed with the “special”. The server was very pleasant and attentive."

We could actually have good conversation in peace and quiet, and eat very good food ranging from a whole fish special to steak. The service was wonderful and we all had a great time.   • "Started out to an Italian restaurant next door with no reservation. It was full and on a Fri night. Looked in window and saw a bar seat. They seated me in the last open seat. The rest of the evening was most plesant. Food outstsnding! Steak cooked to perfection. I did have a small problem with the price of a Beefeather Martini @ $13 when $7 to $10 is the area average. I have been back a second time with same good results."

  • "We have been going to this restaurant for years even when it was called Papas Grille. It has always been a special restaurant for us but we are enjoying it even more now since the update of the menu and the structural changes. We are big Duke basketball fans and always enjoy having dinner at The Bleu Olive before games. The service is excellent, the staff very friendly, and the atmosphere is upbeat. The staff makes an effort to please and to recommend wines that they think are very good. The food is outstanding. It is advisable to have reservations as The Bleu Olive stays busy."

  • "Although Bleu Olive has been opened for a while, I didn't return after an earlier visit with friends where we had appetizers that weren't that appetizing. About a month ago I went with friends to celebrate a birthday and the food was incredibly good. I returned this past Thursday with another friend. We shared a calamari appetizer and both ordered the evening's seafood special. The waitress said it was excellent - she was right - it was beautifully prepared and served. Along with the well prepared food, my friend was very impressed when she was undecided about which wine to order and the waitress offered a sample. Great food, service and hospitality provided by local restauranteurs. If you haven't tried it yet, make sure you do soon."

  • "I went with two work colleagues at noon on a tuesday and found the restaurant packed. That said, my reserved table was immediately ready, our server was perfectly attentive, efficient and professional, and the (manager? owner?) checked on us twice at appropriate intervals. I had the chicken salad sandwich, it was simple but beautifully executed. So was my colleague's lamb burger and shrimp salad. All in all, excellent for both service and food. Glad to have found them!"

  • "I love Greek food. I especially love really good Greek food. For an every week dining experience I would say its just to pricey 1 a month treat thing yeah go for it. The food is great, portions are small for the money you spend. If I had enough to take home some for lunch the next day etc I would not even bat an eyelash at the price. The Peach martini on the menu was not very good. Prickly Pear awesome! Appetizers I recommend the sampler of the spreads especially for a table of 4, everyone will like at least one of the spreads. If you want to dine during prime hours during what I call primer dinner times 5pm-8pm, Friday & Saturday you will have to make a reservation. Suggestion: Try for lunch prices are better but same great food."

  • "The food was wonderful. The service was attentive and mindful of our need to eat promptly to make a theater engagement. The "but" is that I had asked for, and was given (kudos to them), the quietest table in the room, but there really aren't any quiet tables. I liked the old Pappas Grill better. It was one of the few places around where you could hear your dinner partner speak. This is noisy now, which may strike some as livelier and therefore better. Still, they had and have one of the best kitchens around. An off hour would probably be less "stimulating.""

  • "Not sure if they were trying to maximize their space for Valentine's Day, but I could just as easily (if not more so) have carried on a conversation with the woman next to me as with my husband across from me. There were so many tables packed into the space that it was uncomfortable trying to have a conversation with my husband (on Valentine's Day no less) because it felt like the tables on all sides could join in at any time due to proximity. Very uncomfortable. Our server was very nice. The wine our server selected to go with our meals was fantastic. The food we had for dinner was great. Might try the restaurant again, but would leave if the tables were that close together again."

  • "We've been to Bleu Olive many times and the food and service were always very good. We decided to go for Valentines Day and were very disappointed by the owner's decision to pack in 10+ extra tables to capitalize on the holiday. We were literally a foot from diners on either side and it was so crowded that the servers could barely get to the tables. The service was HORRIBLE, too. They added tables but not staff and a 2 course dinner took 2 1/2 hours. We could see in the ,the chefs were working as fast as they could and did put out a good meal. Did not enjoy dinner when packed like sardines. The greed of the owner at the expense of patron's dining pleasure will make us rethink going here EVER again. Also, had to beg for our check."

  • "The restaurant was booked solid and the service was not very good. It was Valentine's day but we waited 25 minutes between appetizers to dinner. Lamb was overcooked. Some people that were there prior to us got waited on after us. I understand a different menu for this day but must say it was very over priced and this is why we do not go out on this day usually. I will go back when the regular menu is in place and try again. I love mediterranean food."
