Bleu BohemeRelaxing and DeliciousWe had a lovely time. Attentive wait staff. Delicious food. There was no pressure to finish quickly and we were stil treated well even after it was clear that we had finished our meal. No problems and we were seated quickly. We will definitely come back.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMEXCELLENTbeen here few times last year and the food got better and the service was excellent! very romantic place as well.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and atmosphereThis is our second time to this restaurant and it was very good. Missed a couple of french classics on the menu but the food was still very good. Service was also excellent.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food!Quite a menu with beautiful tastes. Very European selection. Restaurant, though, is too noisy!6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMHigh Expectations ably metThis review is way easy. On any objective basis, this is one of the best restaurants around. Great food and wine selections, capable, friendly, attentive & helpful staff (not just our waitress, the support persons, and manager all contributed to at great experience!). Very nice for the unique variety of foods and preparations. The menu would keep anyone coming back again and again, just to experience everything! We shared 6 (!) appetizers, and now want to go back to try all the others. Just a wonderful experience. Go and enjoy!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMEclectic GemThis little restaurant packs them in and really exhibits the neighborhood feel that is associated with the area. The ambience in the restaurant had me from the minute we arrived. Real candles burn out of control everywhere you look and with wild abandon. The food was excellent and well prepared (Hot!). French food can be rich and this may not be for those watching their cholesterol, but go ahead and live a little! Recommend the assorted cheese plate, Gnocci, and the pork rib-eye entre. It was all delicious, and made for a killer night out.
Bon Vivant!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous restaurant. ExcellentFabulous restaurant. Excellent service. Food and wine was fantastic. Will definitely be dining again!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAs good as the first timeOn a trip to San Diego a couple of years ago our kids took us here for our anniversary. It was a fabulous experience and we could not wait to try it again when we returned recently for another visit. Our memory was perfect. The ambiance is fantastic. The wait staff is pleasant and helpful. The food was delicious and prepared to perfection. We skipped the appetizer be as we opted for some mussels. Outstanding! My wife had the lamb ravioli and I had the haddock. Then we finished with a Nutella crepe. You will have a meal worth remembering.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFRIENDLY STAFF, GOOD FRENCH FOOD,OUR WAITRESS WAS EXCELLENT, GAVE US GOOD ADVICE ON MENU AND WE FOLLOWED IT. WILL BE BACK AGAIN!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent foodThe special dishes were excellent and the regular menu also providing great choices, all the food was excellent.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food quality varied. MyThe food quality varied. My salmon was the best-prepared version of salmon I've ever had, and my mother's filet mignon was the best she'd ever eaten, while my partner's mushroom crepe was mostly just too much egg. The ambience was "cute" and pleasant, but got downgraded because the place is just too loud. I don't know why so many restaurants aim for the "energetic" (as you put it) noise level, but I really want to be able to talk with my dinner partners, and when a restaurant is too loud I just won't go back again no matter how good the food, service, and ambience. I liked Bleu Boheme but won't be going back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWorth the driveWe live in Valley Center. We have made the trip to Kensington for a fabulous meal at "Le Bleu Boheme" numerous times. It has always been a 5 star experience and continues to be. Being from Belgium, I love mussels! It is quite a treat to find a restaurant that serves them just like "home". The staff is friendly. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is fun, vibrant and casual. We've recommended "Le Bleu Boheme" to acquaintances many times and will continue to do so!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent French cuisineJust visited with a group of friends we enjoyed everything we order5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMEXELENTELA COMIDA EL LUGAR Y LA ATENCION PERFECTA, LA MUSICA PRECIOSA, UNA GRAN EXPERIENCIA5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA little bit of heavenLove the ambience, very warm, very french, SO COZY and comfortable
Attentive wait staff but not invasive to point of distraction Knew the menu well (ingredients for each dish) and could make recommendations if requested
GREAT place for romantic late night dinning as well as a brunch on Sunday afternoon (although a little loud for conversation on Sunday, may have just been an energetic crowd while we were there)
We will return time and time again5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThree Hour LunchWe had a ladies lunch for 5 of us. Having all been there before and trying the various mussel dishes-we were curious to try other menu items (only because the mussels were so delicious). The quiche and salad was described as " better than any I had in France", The crepe was "rich and perfectly cooked-lovely presentation". The Torte and Veggie sandwich, along with what we think was homemade bread, was great . The onion soup and house salad made me want more. The caramelization of the onion was made slowly with care. The service was exceptional, considering we wanted to try everything and took three hours to enjoy it all. Wine list included the wonderful option of excellent by the glass selections. Must share: chocolate mousse.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGood spot in KensingtonGood restaurant with nice feel in Kensington. With a little attention to detail it could be great.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMReally good food, difficult to hearFirst off, the food was very good. A lot of care into both preperation and presentation. Prices were reasonable.
Regardless of any noise issues I had, the place is very very popular. Just go into it, knowing what to expect.
I would have enjoyed it more if I didn't need to keep saying, What?
The reverb in there is terrible. The option is to eat with minimal discussion, or talk very load.
We arrived shortly after opening, so the first 45min was went from nice to not bad, but that last 45min ended in a concophony of noise that was rather unfortunate.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a good choiceWe had a wonderful meal on the patio. It's a bit noisy with street traffic, but even more energetic inside, so if you want to actually converse with others, outside is the best bet. The menu selections were quite varied, and our choices were perfectly prepared. Waitstaff was attentive very cordial. Bleu Boheme is always a good choice.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMUnexpected delight!!I had reservations at another restaurant Monday night for a friend's birthday --but after finding out she already went there and didn't have a good experience, I cancelled and needed a quick solution! I know we both enjoy French cuisine, so after checking Bleu Boheme's menu online, I made an impromptu reso. When we arrived, the hostess was very friendly (I briefly mentioned it was my friend's bday). Our server, Socorro, was AMAZING. She gave my friend that special birthday attention I was hoping for, and made all the right food/beverage recommendations. We probably over-ordered (meat/cheese platter, escargot, moules frites, and pork ribeye because we wanted to try everything, but it was well worth it. Can't wait to go back!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOur second visit to Bleu BohemeOur second visit to Bleu Boheme was as notable as our first. Our first choice had been the Kensington Grill, but learning it had closed we decided to go back to Bleu Boheme. I'm glad we did. It was another night out for my wife and I, but bringing our daughter and her fiancee turned the evening into a party and celebration of their return from Korea. I have already recommended the restauraant to friends.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSome truly outstanding foodSome truly outstanding food and great nouveau-French atmosphere. Fantastic spot, and we will return!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food and great service.Very good food and great service. RecommnendedOutstanding meal. Recommnended by friend so we changed reservation elsewhere to come here and glad we did. This is a restaurant we will come to every time we are in San Diego. Short cab ride from our downtown hotel, well worth it.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMTop notch French comfort foodTop notch French comfort food in a rustic warm setting.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat placeGreat place, a group of four of us went for lunch to celebrate a birthday. Very nice place. Food was great. Service was great!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best French restaurantsAfter two days, I am still reflecting on our meal at Bleu Boheme. We live two hours north but travel to San Diego several times a year but we may travel more often to Bleu Boheme. The meal was fantastic and the waiter was well trained.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMA perfect little gem! When you are in the mood for great French food with loads of ambiance, this is the place. I chose the halibut, Oscar style---delicious! Had the Tarte Chaude au Reblochon ( pastry encrusted onions, bacon and cheese) yum! And dessert was the crepe with creme brûlée spooned over the top-wow! Great experience!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe mussels were excellent. The mussels were excellent. Other dishes were just OK.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMThis really is a lovely restaurant. This really is a lovely restaurant. Consistently wonderful food and super service. Wish I lived in San Diego so I could go more often.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMBusboyIn France there are two elements that is essential for the basic restaurant table. Wine and sliced banquette. At your restaurant, your busboys are very aggressive and took the bread off the table before the last course which is dessert.
Additionally, they do not know when to remove a finished plate. They need to be able to read tableware placement on the plate. It gets annoying when they ask "are you finished" when it is clear you are not. Made me feel rushed.
One more thing. You could do more for those who come to your restaurant for a special occasion, especially a Birthday. A single lighted candle is anticlimactic and non-eventful.
Other than that- I love the food, waitress was attentive and polite and front desk were outst3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI knew there was a reasonI knew there was a reason I was longing to go back to this place! It's very close to where we live but had seemed like a more romantic, fancy spot than we could go to with toddlers. So finally this year we went for my birthday so I could have the delicious mussels I remembered. Not only were the mussels as good as I remembered but everything else was great, including the service. LOVE the bread, love the mussels, love the martinis, the service. Great experience.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent. WeThe food was excellent. We have previousy lived in Europe and the beef bourguignon was the best we have ever had. Loved the fletan oscar with the crab and halibut. Servers were very prompt and stayed in the backgroung.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMEverytime I go to Bleu Boheme,Everytime I go to Bleu Boheme, I'm thoroughly impressed. This time we brought my parents and they were as delighted as I've ever seen. They're also huge fans now.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMSuch a wonderful meal.....musselsSuch a wonderful meal.....mussels w/cream sauce too delicious. Tried 5 dishes and everyone a gem, wish I'd saved room for dessert! - Next time.1/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat meal! While the service was a bit slow - I think it took 45 minutes to get our entrees - the food was very good. We started with an order of the mussels provancale - could have used a bit more sauce but still, very good. I then had the chicken which was excellant moist, had a crispy skin but the sauce was the star! Just terrific! My husband opted for the onion tart and loved it. We had to pass on dessert - too much food beforehand to even think about it. I'd definitely return to Bleu Boheme again!1/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved it againLoved it again, we just keep going back, even though it's a 30 mile drive.12/19/2012 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant is so cozyThe restaurant is so cozy and well decorated that you would never think you are in SD, it transport you to France!
