A word from Blenheim
Blenheim is an enticing new restaurant in the West Village highlighting ingredients sourced from owners Morten Sohlberg and Min Ye’s proprietary 150-acre farm in the Catskill Mountains. The restaurant is a canvas for the property’s vegetables, fruits, meats, dairy, and even maple syrup. Executive Chef Ryan Tate's menu pays homage to the farm with its thoughtful flavor combinations accentuating the ingredients in their purest incarnation. A curated wine list showcases organic, biodynamic, and natural wines and artisanal cocktails will utilize farm ingredients to pair with the flavor profiles of the menu. Inspired by a world away from the bustle of New York City, this 45 seat eatery with modern lines give a departure from the traditional farm-to-table look, juxtaposed against vintage and antique décor. We look forward to welcoming you to Blenheim.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Great cocktails and wine list. The oyster amouse bouche was superb, but then the momentum slackened with our first courses. The king crab was excellent but not so the green salad from their Catskills farm. The cauliflower vichyssoise was great in texture but disappointing in terms of flavors. Our main courses' quality led the downward trend with large uncooked portions of our striped bass, while the pork loin needed trimming to discard excess fat....the cucumber granità was a nice close to an otherwise highly uneven dining experience managed by a very cordial well- meaning waiter."

  • "Disappointing probably sums it up best - with a farm upstate you would expect the food to be full of flavor - the menu sounded amazing but the words did not translate to the plate - the good was just plain boring. We learned that the original chef quit after a month - maybe this explains a little."

  • "Food was excellent, and the portions were just enough - everyone at the table felt satisfied with a starter and entree, but no one felt overly stuffed. Dishes change frequently and are chosen with the seasons. Waitstaff were kind, if not a bit hesitant and didn't quite exude confidence."

  • "Understand the restaurant opened in May with problems in the kitchen and with the wait staff and closed to reorganize. Blenheim Farm has now reopened. From what we saw, the problems have been resolved. We ate dinner in very attractive and comfortable surroundings. The food was very good and well presented; the wait staff friendly and efficient. Although we ate inside, there is a pleasant outdoor eating area with canvas umbrellas for protection. We were regular diners at Smorgas -- the predecessor to Blenheim Farm (same ownership) -- and, after this visit, happily will be regulars again."

  • "I had the pork loin which was cooked spot on. My only suggestion is that it would be five star if more gristle and fat had been trimmed from the succulent meat. Several times I found myself with either a mouth full of fat or processing gristle and sinew through vigorous chewing. Otherwise lovely, toothsome and well concieved."

  • "very sleek modern decor - and a warm welcome greet you. outdoor seating is on the tree lined sidewalk of a quiet street in the village. food and cocktails are very creative and delicious - using ingredients not usually seen. fussy unadventureous eaters should not go - but those with open minds and taste buds are in for a treat."

  • "Some of the meal was delicious and portions generous. Some of the meal was not very tasty and tiny portions. Don't really know what to say. We will probably not return but feel bad saying so."

  • "I dined at Blenheim last evening and had a very good experience. I will definitely return and when I do, I will select a different entree and probably up my rating to 5 stars. I enjoyed a cocktail and then had the cold cauliflower soup that was presented beautifully in a chilled ceramic bowl. For my main course I opted for the skate wing and did not love it. I am reluctant to even mention it, because it could certainly have been my personal taste and not the quality of the dish. This is a beautiful restaurant with attentive service and I will return to try a different entree."

  • "Hate to give away my new favorite secret spot, but this restaurant deserves its accolades. Great décor-clean, contemporary, cozy, like its staff--considerate, professional, personable and cool. The food is a continuation of what made Chef Tate's Le Restaurant a foodie legend, taking seasonal ingredients only, imaginatively interpreting it, and executing with the seemingly conflicting touch of sophistication and simplicity. People will inevitably discover Blenheim soon. Try it before you need to wait two months to get a reservation."

  • "Very pretty interior and relatively uncrowded. Liked the atmosphere! Food was very good, but not exceptional (as a note I went for brunch and feel this way about most brunches). Portions weren't huge, which is fine but including as a data point, and coffee was expensive! Service was a little slow. Seems like some new people still learning the ropes."

  • "Blenheim combines the high notes of starred restaurants with reliable and informed service that does not dominate your meal. The food is superb, fresh interesting ingredients and innovative combinations. I've been there twice and shall continue to go for a long time to come I trust. Just hope they keep some reservations for people in the neighborhood as time goes on and the tables fill up nightly."

  • "The food is entirely amazing. Service professional and hospitable - not over hovering. We were there early so is was quiet. Later with more people noise probably goes up some, but there was NO obnoxious loud music. :)"

  • "Ryan Tate continues his wonderful farm to table cuisine at Blenheim. This time however you can order a la carte as well as the tasting menu. Front of house staff are very gracious."

  • "After living in the West Village, it is not a surprise to see one restaurant disappear and a new one take it's place. To be honest there are so many restaurants in the West Village that we are guilty of not trying as many as we would like. I am very glad to say that we didn't make the same mistake with Blenheim. We went with a good friend on a Saturday night and the restaurant had a definite upscale feel which was a nice change from some of the other neighborhood restaurants. The food was amazing and Chef Ryan Tate took the time to speak with us as well. I hope they let him do what he does best and the future will only be bright for Blenheim. So glad they are in the neighborhood!"

  • "What a good meal! Locally sourced, organic, very fresh food, well prepared in interesting and delicious ways. The pace is relaxed, no hype, no scene and no rush. It is a bit serious though; this is food for those who are into food. The room is beautiful, earthy and elegant at the same time. It is a bit costly though, so I won't be eating here often, but how could it not be with all of this and being situated on what is probably the most charming corner of the West Village. I must say though that I miss the simple, hearty, warmth of its previous incarnation, Smorgas Chef."

  • "This restaurant is poised to explode on the foodie scene! The space is comfortable, well lit, and nicely designed. The service is excellent, and the food sensational. The wine recommendations were also spot on. While they did not have their five course tasting menu ready (they were only open a few days when we dined), I can't wait to try it! In the mean time, there is plenty to satisfy even the most discerning foodies. Try the pink G&T cocktail, and the crab and trout second courses were outstanding. We will most definitely be going back!"

  • "We had perfect service and beautiful hand crafted foods. The vibe was great and restaurant design fresh elegant. Gifts from the chef began a fantastic meal."

  • "Lovely place, lovely service, and interesting food. A bit heavy on the herbs. In the only vegetarian main dish on the menu, Spring vegetables in green sauce, you couldn't taste the veg. for the sauce."

  • "I really loved everything about Blenheim. The drinks are very creative and delicious and the food is just amazing! Just wait until you taste the piping hot home made dinner rolls AND who else makes their own butter? Yes, I was impressed with absolutely everything about the place. The service was top notch as well. I can't wait to go back."

  • "Chef Justin Hilbert is a gifted, original and adventurous exemplar of the fresh & local school of food thought. His work at now-closed Gwynnett Street in Brooklyn knocked me out. I am excited to see how things develop at Blenheim. Only a week after opening, it is already very very good, complimented by unusual and delicious offerings from the liquor and wine list. Service: smooth, cordial and unpretentious. The style is spiffed-up cafe on a pretty West Village corner, a light-filled room that feels both special and appealingly understated. "

  • "Blenheim is a much welcomed addition to the west village. Food, service and ambience are excellent and well recommended for a romantic dinner. I highly recommend the trout!!"

  • "The food was just amazing. The home made rolls... the moment you cracked them you knew they were extraordinary. The trout was by far the best I've ever had. Completely perfect. The fiddlehead fern salad and the vegetable plate were both so light, yet deeply flavored, I felt younger and healthier by the time they were finished. The fruits en gelle were a bit too cold for me and a shred too tart but maybe I'm not sophisticated enough! There were masses of staff but still We felt slightly unattended, which was strange. The restaurant is divinely quiet. With background, un-belligerent music and no reverberated noise. I recommend it very highly and can't wait to go back. "

  • "Our dinner was fantastic but the portion size left us wanting more. I had the beefsteak while my companions had grilled vegetables and the sea bream. All of us thought the food was incredibly fresh and delicious but wanted more as we stared at our empty plates. Other than that, great restaurant with great cocktails!!! "

  • "Had dinner here this past week. Loved the look and feel however the food didn't match. Guinea Hen was really tough and tasteless.Seemed like it was cooked sous vide so suspect timing or temp was off. Sea Bream was very fishy tasting. Lamb was tasty but also tough. With only four mains on the menu this is a real problem. Small courses were better. Staff was friendly but should be better in describing the preparation of dishes. Perhaps just opening jitters but may be difficult place to eat if you don't want red meat."

  • "There's nothing better than an al fresco lunch on a beautiful spring day...except Swedish meatballs! My first trip to this little gem on the west side, but it definitely won't be the last. The food was superb, and the service was even better. We had the meatballs and salmon, along with drinks and the rice pudding dessert. All lovely. The crowd was sophisticated and interesting as well."

  • "Not my first time at Smörgås and this time was no different: great drinks, delicious food and we got to sit outside this time. We were at the last table on the side, it was chilly outside, and quiet. We had a great time enjoying our meal and just relaxing. I got them to make me an Aquavit martini with a splash of champagne- I will definitely be getting that again!"

  • "Unfortunately our food was not really good... I ordered the cod fish as a main course, the vegetables were so overcooked that I could not eat them... the sauce was desintegrating, thus thick and watery at the same time (you could taste the starch). One had the impression that the dish had been prepared hours before being served. My husband also felt that the sauce for the meatballs contained too much starch. The chocolate choux also tasted old - plus, lemon sugar and moka sauce simply do not go together. We love Swedish food and were disappointed overall. And a check for over $200 was definitely overpriced. The gravalax was ok, though."

  • "Loved it. The food was majestic in its own right with a wonderful array of decadent samplings ranging from meatballs to cod and so forth. It was a journey into Nordic fare that was truly magnificent. I plan on returning soon!"

  • "Smorgas has really come a long way. I have been going to this location as well as downtown Stone Street location since they opened. Lately it seems as if they have gotten a lot better. The daily specials are top notch, fresh ingredients, creative, whole food and delicious. They keep me coming back to see what's next."

  • "Wasn't wowed by it, they gave us a little trouble for not having printed out the Gilt voucher, but that was resolved fast. The Swedish meatballs were delicious with the Lingonberry sauce and mashed potatoes, as well as the Parsnip Soup. But the Pork Two Ways was dry and the Sea Food Casserole was lacking anything special. The butter for the bread was amazing though! All in all, I wouldn't not come back, but I wouldn't seek it out."

  • "It is always a pleasure to visit NewYork City and go for Brunch to this small, charming, cozy restaurant in the Village. The food is never disappointing, the service is always attentive and friendly. Trully feels like being home.."

  • "I love sitting by the window in this small, charming West Village restaurant. Nothing better than feasting on the marvelous Swedish meatballs. I love the fish here too(herring, gravlox, the works) but those meatballs keep me coming back. If you're a coffee lover, theirs is strong and tasty. Friendly service. Very pleasant for brunch or lunch during the week."
