BLDGreat Food and Outstanding ServiceThis was the second time I've been to this restaurant with my wife on a date night and I can't find a better place to go. The menu is amazing, the staff there is spot on and the environment is just right.
Our dinner was shared between the two of us(Beet Salad and Pork w/ Brussel Sprouts with a Banana Cream Pie - go to their menu, they explain these dishes much better than I can) and it was amazing from start to finish.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHad another great experienceHad another great experience at BLD! My date had the Ham & Whiskey and I couldn't help but try their chicken and waffles. I'm so glad I did because it's a not-to-be-missed meal. It was off the hook. The waffle came with bacon and shallot infused homemade butter!! The chicken was extra crispy and sooooo juicy. And the donut dessert that came with the Ham & Whiskey dinner... well, let's just say my date and I ate it with our eyes closed because it was so incredible. Even better than the food, though, was our server. TJ was incredible and made our evening memorable. He works Wednesdays which is also BLD's donut dessert night. I'm going back for both! What a treat. The service was great, they accommodated our kids' requests very politely, and the food was delicious. I'd have to say that I recommend it more for lunch, mainly because they serve breakfast until 3PM! The restaurant was beautiful, but EMPTY so we didn't really need a reservation. Our waiter, TJ, was adorable, & wonderful, & helpful. The food was good, but not the best place to go if you're on a diet, which I was. I did find something on my diet, but it isn't what I would have liked to have ordered. Too many good fattening things on hat menu!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMI would not use the word romanticI would not use the word romantic to describe lunch at BLD, unless you are in love with the carpet-less noise of the croud inside, or the busy Beverly Blvd traffic outside. However, there was a croud inside because the food is fine & fun. Who knew the riotta blueberry pancakes would be such a hit for my vegetarian guest, while my Moroccan Lamb Burger, w/lemon cucumber yogurt & feta cheese made me shamelessly lick my fingers right in front of her. It was also great, in this day of mega-menus with hundreds of choices that take mure than your 90 minute lunchtime to read, to see a resturant with the confidence to serve a few things, but serve them quite well. If 3/4 of the party has arrived, I think they should be seated when a reservation has been made. AGAIN!Great service, great food, and truly romantic and cozy. It was our first time there. It will not be our last time there. And if you're a vegetarian, the vegetarian items are great, not just an afterthought. A word of caution, the pastry chef is in league with the devil -- UNBELIEVABLE! Each course was a dream, and the dessert was the capper! Not that the dessert was better than what we ordered (order the butter lettuce salad to start, it will knock you out!), but it was the perfect end to a perfect meal. Our waitress was amicable but not intrusive. Since it was our first time there everyone took the time to make sure we knew every item that was available that night and why we would like it. The food is high quality and inventive with a leaning toward the health conscious. The portions are on the smaller side but big enough. There is something for everyone on the menu from the adventurous to the conservative.
