Diner Reviews
  • "Great steaks. The hash browns were a disappointment."

  • "I had heard mixed things about Blackstones, but was completely blown away. The service was incredibly classy and professional, and the food was absolutely delicious. Our wine and water were never empty, and everyone in our group lived the food they ordered. We especially loved the shellfish tower! Skip the clams though - get extra oysters."

  • "We are regulars at Blackstones, and made this reservation at the last minute. Typically, we order the Porterhouse steak-and it is always excellent. This time, we felt adventurous, so we ordered the Dover Sole special. It was outstanding! And the service makes us feel among family. We'll be back this week, for sure."

  • "Great porterhouse, close by, what more can you ask."

  • "The ambiance of Blackstones is warm and welcoming and the staff is friendly and attentive. The food is tasty and plentiful. The filet mignon was cooked to order and flavorful. The Blackstones signature chicken was delicious. We also had the chef's special bread pudding for dessert which was yummy."

  • "We dine at Blackstones regularly-once every couple of weeks. The porterhouse for two was sublime. We always feel like we are among family at this restaurant. I have no idea where the NYT review came from-it is completely incorrect. The record needs to be set straight. This is a quality NY steak experience 7 minutes from my home. We'll return again and again and again!"

  • "You have to go down a metal staircase to get to this restaurant. The surrounding area was sightly flooded from recent rains & poor drainage so that detracted from the ambiance immediately even before entering. (I suppose that also makes it non-handicapped accessible.) The service was quite good. We all ordered the filet mignon. Though the inside was exactly as ordered, the outside crust was way too charred & some had to be cut away before eating. As a steakhouse they should be able to get this right."

  • "We were a party of 4 and had a lovely evening dining at this restaurant. The food was very good and so was the atmosphere. The restaurant week menu had plenty of choices and was a good value ($29.95 for a 3 course meal). Ordering from the regular menu would be a lot more expensive as side vegetables were each $6-8 additional plus any appetizers. Our meal from the regular menu would have cost around $50."

  • "A friend ordered their signature chicken dish - they should be ashamed. I could see instantly from across the table it was too dark and the sauce was burnt. After trying it, she sent it back and asked for the salmon. Which they tend to cook very well done - I like it that way. Our friend does not. She asked them to cook it but not overcook it and they brought it out to her completely uncooked twice. The steak and chop were great (if a little small). The friend who ordered the chop ordered it only after being told they were out of his first 3 choices and my favorite desert! At the end of 2 weeks of restaurant week they were clearly not at their best."

  • "We were pleasantly surprised by the choices for restaurant week dining. Since it is a steakhouse, we all had the filet mignon, which was delicious. My only complaint was that 2 of us ordered our steaks medium rare and the other 2 ordered rare, towards medium. The medium rare steaks were more rare than the others. When I questioned our waiter about whether they were correctly placed he confirmed they were, but clearly they were not. Otherwise, the sides (mashed potatoes and creamed spinach served family-style) were perfect, and the appetisers were generous for restaurant week. We all had different ones and were pleased; caesar salad, fried calamari, french onion soup and baked clams all delicious. The ambiance in the restaurant is fine."

  • "My husband and my friends husband ordered the same cut of steak, one was ordered medium well the other medium rare. Both would have accepted medium. When the server came to the table he asked how they ordered their steaks and proceed to mix up the order, after my friends husbands had taken a few bites of his (which was medium) my husband cut into his ~ Totally well done - BROWN on the inside, the waiters solution, just switch the plates! It didn't matter that the steak he was now putting in front of my husband had been eaten out of! Sorry this is just not acceptable."

  • "All the traditional steakhouse dishes are very well done and service was attentive and friendly!"

  • "We went there during the Hudson Restaurant Week. We ordered from the fixed price menu and added a side veggie dish from main menu. The service was very good and they were very nice to all 3 of us. The food was good, from appertizer to main entre to dessert. We all had petit filet mignon which was cooked to our choices. I ordered a glass of house wine and it was pretty good too. Overall, it was a worthwhile meal and I'd go back for a special event. The price on the main menu is a bit on the high side, similar to Manhattan level."

  • "As first timers we stuck to the prefix menu. The steak was excellent, our table of 6 asked for rare to well done and every one was cooked to perfection. We had creamed spinach and mashed potatoes which were both good, For dessert we had either cheese cake or chocolate mousse cake. The desserts were average. The staff was friendly and professional. The owner thought we waited too long for our order to be taken and gave a drink on the house. Honestly given the place was packed and it being a Saturday night I thought the service was great."

  • "food was tasteless, with the exception of the onion soup. the "whipped cream" served with dessert is not whipped cream. It tasted like Crisco."

  • "Unlike many restaurant week menus, Blackstone's had a very nice selection of food from which to choose. Oysters were delicious, steak was good but could have used a sauce, sides family style."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our restaurant week dinners. For $29.95 we were offered an appetizer , entree and dessert and all were very good with three to five choices in each category. The service was also very good. We would definitely return."

  • "Made reservations on short notice. Really hadn't heard much about the place, but turned out to be a excellent choice. My date had the Branzino, and I had the Bone in Rib eye, which was done to perfection. Wine list was well rounded, we chose the Blackstone Cabernet. Will definitely be going again."

  • "This place is great - the steaks are amazing and the service is exceptional!! If you love bacon order the Neuski Bacon as an appetizer - if you are a wine connoisseur you will not be disappointed they have an extensive wine list. I will say it's a bit pricey but well worth the money (come hungry) and parking can be a pain (look for side parking off East Main Street) I would suggest this place for a special occasion, birthday or for anyone that enjoys an amazing steak. I've only had the bone In New York Strip- which is very tasty but there are other items on the menu. I usually skip dessert because I am too stuff :)"

  • "We had yet another perfect steak at Blackstones. And, as always, the staff was fantastic! We are so lucky to have this steakhouse so nearby. We're going back for Valentine's Day!"

  • "We have been to Blackstones several times and it never disappoints! The steak is outstanding! If you are not a meat eater.. The fish selections and raw bar are outstanding! Service is excellent and we enjoy eating in the bar section for the ambiance."

  • "I was my wife and daughter. We ordered the crab cakes, escargot and bacon for starters. They were fantastic! Afterwards, two ribeye and a surf and turf were ordered. The meat was cooked perfect and the shellfish was terrific. Its a basement entrance ( think brownstone) and the rooms oozed of classy steakhouse and comfort (bring friends or clients). The owners were attentive and great to chat with. We are going back! This will be one of of our favorites in Mt. Kisco!. You can't do better in the area...we tried!"

  • "Steaks awesome. Lobster and mussels good. French onion soup yummy. Some bits oversalted. Very attentive staff, cozy basement space. Overpriced...but good for special night out."

  • "The service was very slow. We had a 8 O'Clock reservation and did not receive our entree until 9:30. There was a missunderstanding of some of the dishes that were ordered."

  • "I've had dinner at Blackstone's three times in the last month and have been pleased every time. We had New Year's Eve dinner there and loved it. The service is fantastic - just enough attention but not overbearing. Had the veal chop the last time I was in and it was amazingly good. Good wines by the glass and we had a red Riesling that was delicious!"

  • "We have become regulars at Blackstones, and the staff clearly appreciates the repeat business. The steak is always perfectly prepared, and the quality of the meat is consistent. We are fortunate to have a NYC-class steakhouse so close at hand."

  • "We were in search of a great local steakhouse and found it. Not only were the steaks excellent, but all the food -- appetizers, desserts and salmon and chicken -- was. Great service, great ambiance. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!"

  • "We both had the ribeye steaks this time. Cooked perfectly, large portion, little fat, prime, tender, juicy - one of the best I ever had. Escargot for the appetizer was excellent as were the mussels in wine sauce. No room for dessert. Pricey but well worth it."
    Dined on 11/23/2013
  • "It was more like a restaurant trying to became steak house. Bad location, not great decor and the food was just ok. Apps were better than entrees. Dry steaks"
    Dined on 11/15/2013
  • "The meat was perfection; however, with our clams casino appetizer (which has plenty of sauce), no additional bread was served (we were reluctant to ask, but no offer was made). The service was very slow although the restaurant was empty. Not enough on the plate. Aside from the meat, very small portion of mashed potato and vegetable. When I came home, I was still hungry and had more to eat. BTW, I am a 73 year old woman and weigh 127 pounds.."

  • "We had long waits for appetizer and between courses, but other tables did not seem to. Don't know whether this was due to service or kitchen staff."

  • "First time here. Good food. Not many complaints but it was freezing inside! They need to have the heat on higher."

  • "This is a steak house - and my friend had a delicious filet, but I ordered the chicken and it was fabulous. The sauce was wonderful, as was the sauce on the clams casino."
