Blackshop Restaurant & LoungeI called the Blackshop lastI called the Blackshop last night to thank our server for her outstanding service.
One of the ladies in my group is going through cancer treatment (chemo) for the third time. Her taste buds are out of wack and she is very negative, as we might all be in her situation. She returned her Gulasch soup, but then liked the leek soup.
Living close to Elmira, there are a number of good restaurants closer for me, but I do like the Blackshop a lot and know that I can always rely on the food and service, if I want to invite friends or when we have a special occasion.

The Brunch and Lunch menu are both available. Seeking a more private setting we asked to be seated in one of the side areas of the restaurant . The restaurant was busy but not packed. Our area was only occupied by the 4 of us. Service was attentive and given our interest was in Brunch, our drinks of Orange Juice and Mimosa's were ordered and quickly delivered. We ordered a made to order omelette, 2 lobster eggs Benedict, plus the feature french toast. The food was excellent. We stayed from 12 to 2 and were never rushed. We were even offered more coffee after we paid our bill and were talking still talking. We will return!7/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband & I have alwaysMy husband & I have always enjoyed Blackshop. We had such a great time on our last dining experience that we will be back for more often. We when for our anniversary on Thursday June 13 n the server (Steven) over heard that it was my birthday a few days prior and brought out a birthday dessert for us. Steven was a great, professional server.
The manager (? name) on that evening when above and beyond to help answer my questions. We were debating about coming here for Father's Day brunch. He was more then accommodating to show me the menus and the area that would fit my family of 11.
We are very excited to return on Sunday with my family, none of which have been there. Hopefully they will enjoy the experience like we have.

I was surprised at how intimate it felt, being able to hear my friends, but no one else. The food was delicious all-round - some tried fish, some veal and some beef. Everyone raved about their dish. Lots of good flavours that melded together. Many outstanding choices on the menu, making it difficult to settle on just one meal. Lovely, ambiance, delicious food, wonderfully attentive service by Christine and Steven. My wife enjoyed the lamb cooked perfectly and I loved the gnocchi ~ Just delicious. Steven suggested the perfect, crisp, white wine to accompany two very diverse meals. What fun to be surprised with a birthday crepe at the end of our wonderful meal.

The appetizers were great as well, although my wife thought that the Salmon Tartar would have been in smaller pieces. Still great taste. Our waitress - Jodi - was exceptional and paid close attention to my wife's allergies, which allowed her to relax into the evening.
