  • "very special place for special occassions to enjoy great food and service... although it is pricey, the menu is interesting, the food is prepared with care and the presentations are near perfect. Since it is BYOB, it helps to keep the overall cost down. The noise level can get high, so being near a loud table can be especially annoying. But as people leave, the noise reduces dramatically (probably the worst on Fri and Sat). Consistently a wonderful experience..."

  • "Turns out that a Friday evening in August is a great time to try Blackfish. Parking was easy, and the restaurant wasn't crowded. Our server was both pleasant and helpful, and our food was very good. My wife loved her appetizer, but was a little disappointed in the skate entrée. I had one of the signature appetizers(smoked salmon) and the lamb. Both of these were outstanding. Best restaurant experience I have had in a long time."

  • "Superbe, delicious, excellent, ... ran out of superlatives quickly. The ingredients are of the highest quality, the cooking is perfect, the plate decoration is stylish and tasty at the same time with a lot of refreshing greens/salads touches. I had lunch with a client and was so impressed, I returned for dinner and then lunch again the next day. I especially enjoyed the vegetable gaspachio, the roasted beets salad, the seared tuna, the poached egg with salmon. Next time I am in town, I will try the 5-course dinner and let the Chef improvise. My order arrived very promptly and timing between courses was perfect. My dessert was good (chocolate cake) but I wished a fruit tart or other more elaborate patisserie had been offered. A bientôt"

  • "If your a foodie I recoomend the we did the chefs tasting no one tasting is the same for every table. You can tell theirs a high quality chef behind the scene the taste and presentation was very! impressive. We dine out quite often ad to a lot of fine restaurants. The only thing negative I could say that the portions are a little on the small side if they could just make them slighty a little bigger would be great!"

My only problem this time was that I ordered foie gras: it was not foie gras, it was a cold foie gras, which is not what I call foie gras. I know they do the same in some restaurants in Paris, but it is not right, give them another name. The rest, oysters and chicken were superb, chicken was outstading, tnder."

  • "My wife and I revisited after several years. In the mean time Blackfish was recognized as a top spot. We were not disappointed. Our chef's tasting was superb. The nudie particularly tasty and the lamb saddle delicious. The staff are excellent, the food first rate. We stayed away too long thinking access was difficult now that they are discovered. Week night access seems possible espespecially in high summer so I am looking forward to returning soon."

  • "Surprisingly, we were able to reserve a table at 7pm for four on Saturday afternoon for that evening. We were seated promptly and attended to throughout the evening. We had to ask for bread since none was provided at our table but other tabes were receiving bread. The tuna appetizer was the best tuna we have ever eaten and the portion was adequate. The foie gras was the size of a quarter and the lamb the two men ordered left them yearning for more. The coffee creme brule was shared by all four of us and was yummy."

  • "I liked that the menu had options but not too many, 3 courses with locally sourced seasonal ingredients. Our meal started well but not spectacular. But the 2nd and 3rd courses we're some of the best dishes we've had in awhile, especially the ricotta gnudi and risotto from 2nd. The lamb saddle was cooked perfectly, but the best dish of the night was easily the bouillabaisse. It's a signature dish for a reason. The service is attentive but not overbearing and the restaurant has a relaxed feel, but the food is sophisticated. The trip outside the city is well worth it."

  • "At dinner two weeks ago the bouillabaisse was excellent - a good mix of seafood, good broth, good rouille (though not garlicky enough for my wife's tastebuds) - but a pinch too salty. This week, the bouillabaisse was again a bit too salty, and the crust of the gray bass (was that the name of the fish?) was also a little too salty, hiding the taste of the fish. Custard desert was luscious!"

  • "After another fantastic meal at Blackfish I have decided that this is the best BYOB in the suburbs. It's the first time I didn't have the tasting menu, as I just wasn't hungry enough. The menu options were varied and all great. My lamb saddle was excellent. My wife had the chicken and our friends the fish. All were great. To start my wife had Foie Gras, that as always was perfection. I had the "naked pasta" and it was so good. Once again we had a fantastic meal!"

  • "Blackfish offered a special tasting menu last night based on rose fish (aka ocean perch, redfish, Norway haddock, red perch, red bream - we looked it up because we didn't know). So we put ourselves in the chef's hands & enjoyed 3 absolutely wonderful courses of fish after an amuse-bouche of goat cheese with radish & lemon. As crudo, it was both fascinating & delicious, with a light "dressing" of coconut milk & mint oil that was so good I sopped it up with bread & left a clean plate. Then it came poached with corn & enoki mushrooms in dashi. The "big one" was roasted with potato, tomato confit & olives in red wine. A bit of light banana cake w/ coriander topped it off (why no fish in my dessert???). There's only 1 word for this - WOW!"

  • "Loved the food.as well as the intimate, relaxed ambiance. I was hesitant to order chicken (i thought it would be boring) but am so glad i did. It was different & wonderful. Also loved the skate wing & the cold squash soup. The warm beignets for desert were great. I have no idea how they made the raspberry sauce for them but it is astonishing. Service was friendly and our waitress provided all of the input we needed. Only microscopic glitch was that my husbands lemonade was delayed a little & he decided he no longer wanted it. A free coffee was offered so all was good! I Can't wait to return to Blackfish!"

  • "I had heard Blackfish was good but I didn't expect to feel so impressed-- it's just naturally hard to impress me. We decided upon the 5 course chef tasting. Raw tuna, smoked salmon, veal, scallops and a dessert (which were really two different desserts- one given after the other). We had told the waitress we were open to anything and enjoyed each surprise course. The food was not only outstanding, it was artistic in its creation and presentation. Well done!"

  • "We had thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Blackfish so came back with friends. We chose the $70 chef's sampling menu. Although the service and atmosphere were wonderful, the food was disappointing. The portions were extremely small and several of the dishes were quite average. The blue crab salad was mushy and tasted canned. It had 3-4 teaspoon sized dollops of crab with a tablespoon of diced tomato and pinch of small greens. For such a small serving, it should have been free of shell, but was not. My husband was unhappy with the duck; I thought it was fine. No vegetables were served. I prefer smaller servings, but left hungry and dissatisfied. I want to love this restaurant, but was let down."

  • "Same top quality experience, different meal every time! Cold pea soup with prosciutto and goat cheese - amazing! Tuna crudo with chili oil and citrus - outta sight! Chicken (yes, chicken) - so good it's actually real food (just kidding -sort of...)! The risotto's sublime, the off-menu arugula salad's crisp and delicious, and the beignets make Cafe Du Monde's seem mass produced. Caring and professional service in a subtle, understated and sophisticated setting complete a world class package - this is mighty close to being as good as it gets!"

  • "after many years of hearing such good things, we finally broke down, left the Main Line and Downtown dining scene for a night, to visit Conshohocken. we were stupid to not have come before!! the reputation is well earned. the meal was truly excellent and the service on the mark. each dish was special, and, while the portions were fine, you wanted to taste more, and were sorry to have your plate empty. we will be back."
