From the halibut to the salmon to the pork to the dessert, every course was delicious, beautifully presented and just enough food to eat. Our server Sue was attentive and happy to serve us. This was the first time for our friends at Blackfish and they were equally impressed. They thought it was 'fine dining' at its best. We agree!"

  • "My daughter and I recently took a trip to Philly and decided to try some neighborhood restaurants. We had our first night's dinner at Blackfish and what a great way to start the weekend it was. The restaurant is not very big but we sat in the window table and if there was restaurant notice it really didn't bother us. Our waiter was excellent. He gave very good descriptions of anything we asked him about and the staff stopped by appropriately to refill bread and wine. I would absolutely go back to Blackfish the next time we're in the Conshohocken area."

  • "Simple and modern decoration, the experience is all about the food. A very well thought menu offers unexpected possibilities without being overwhelming. Presentation is always excellent, a great surprise for first timers. The quality of the food is very good, rich in flavors with a modern twist. Fish is cooked to perfection, and dessert... We've never been able to get there, but I am sure it's something to look for in the future!"

I am not overly adventurous with food but really enjoyed my meal and this was truly fine dining, not just "eating out! It is a little pricey but worth it for a special occasion."

  • "Blackfish is constantly in Philly Mag as one of the top 50 restaurants. Decided to spend my husbands 40th bday there (told them in advance but didn't acknowledge it). Reservations are a must and hard to come by & love that it was a BYOB. Service was amazing as well as prompt seating. Variety of table side bread were delicious. Blackfish is known for their fish but I decided to go w/the sirloin as the menu was somewhat limited - asked for medium well - overcooked but the juices and crust helped minimize the chewiness. Soup was very good and interesting while my husbands fish entree was good too. For the price, I was blown away but it was a good meal nonetheless."

  • "My fiancee and I were in Conshy this past Friday night and we happened to come across this restaurant during a random Open Table reservation search. Unbeknownst to us, this pace is a real Hot Spot. After making our reservations we grabbed a bottle of wine and headed to the restaurant. The hostess was very friendly and courteous. We chose the five course chef's tasting, which they allow you to customize to some degree, unlike other restaurants. Our waiter was outstanding, and the food was AMAZING!!! Will definitely be back!"

  • "We love B'fish, the staff, the new hostess Lisa and of course Chip's wonderful food. But we go less often now because the menu is small and it has gotten more difficult to predict that we will find choices that really entice us. The skate and Tuna are often staples for the fish, and the duck and steak for the meats. (We had the steak and it was perfect, crisp outside and perfectly pink inside). We are part of the fan club that loves halibut, dover sole, the short rib ravioli and the short rib dishes. Definitely go on a weeknight, it is so relaxing and you can hear yourself think!"

  • "Given our past dining experiences at Blackfish, the bar is always set high when we dine here with our friends. Friday night (February 28), things were a little off. Most of the problems seemed to be service problems, (long wait for bread, taking our order, wait time between courses), but a number of the dishes were not hot when presented, so we were not sure if there was a communication problem between front and back of house. Other than the temp problems, the food was delicious as always, and the company and wine helped pass the time. The waitress was aware of the issues and generously comped our desserts. I hope that this was a one-off occurrence, as this is one of our favorite BYOBs in the Philadelphia area."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our first Valentine's as a married couple an evening early to avoid the crowds and pre-fixed menus. We also were going away for the weekend so off we went to Blackfish! It was our first time dining together at the restaurant and we were very impressed with each dish we ordered. Everything was Delicious and full of flavor! I personally do not enjoy a steak however, I could not stop stealing bites of sirloin off my husband's plate. The crudo appetizer was one of the best starter dishes I have ever had. We both are really looking forward to going back soon!"

I love the ambiance and style of food they provide here - although on this occasion the portions seemed smaller than before, however it was all delicious. The main course tuna was great - but could have done with a few more veggies complimenting it. Their warm chocalate cake is outstanding. Remember it's BYOB - but they only charge $2 corkage."

  • "We dined at Blackfish on V-Day weekend and despite the holiday the food was well done and came out at a good pace. The duck and sirloin courses were amazing (especially with the jus!) as well as the short rib ravioli.The service was excellent, and despite the closeness of the tables it didn't feel too cramped. The BYOB factor is also nice (but does have a $2 recycling fee). The only downsides: the waiters served the bread so if you wanted some you had to flag one down. We only got two pieces of bread for the whole meal...hmmm won't a bread basket be more efficient? Also the desserts (beignets and chocolate mousse) were just ok, seemed to be an after thought to the meal. Overall a wonderful dining experience for anyone who loves food."

  • "My wife and I usually go to the city for nice meals but at the recommendation of a friend we decided to try BlackFish because it was closer to home. We were pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was elegant but not overdone. It was a Valentine holiday menu and the food was quite good.( It was a little pricey) Our waiter was attentive. We even had a nice conversation with the manager. As for being a BYOB, we enjoyed bringing our own wine that we would enjoy at home. We will certainly return in the future."

  • "The service and staff are friendly and excellent. Well, except one runner who seemed to be out of sync. She brought out the dessert course before the 4th course, which we told her. The hostess was very friendly throughout the night, and in the cramped location and are table next to the door that was a good thing. I ordered the Sirloin and thought it was good, but not as outstanding as my first two courses. I had no mushrooms on the plate. I'm no fan of mushrooms so it was not a big deal, and I did not notice until I saw another plate come out and saw things I did not get. I did mention it to the host and received an apology. Overall it was an excellent evening and good food. Food is artistic and well balanced flavors."

  • "Nice lunch, friendly service. Chicken pot pie had been nuked into submission. The contents were so hot that I could have burned my mouth twenty minutes after it was served. A warning would have been nice. As with many restaurants, obtaining and paying the bill took more time than it should. Part of a pleasant dining experience is being able to leave when the meal is done, not having to look in vain for someone to bring the bill and then take the charge card."
