This spot was recommended to me by my uncle who dines here frequently because of the seasonal menu. Me and my guest had to take advantage of the changing menu and sample two items from each course selection. The flavors in all the dishes were on target. The portions were small enough that you did not get overwhelmingly full from one course to the next and they were big enough to share and get a decent helping. The ambiance and decor is what truly made this restaurant a stand out for me, as well as our service from Harold and his staff of food runners. Clean white walls, crystal clear classes, and fresh spot less silverware after every course made my dinning experience were more spectacular. Look forward to the winter menu coming soon.

You can find fancier, but Blackfish has an upscale feel with no pretense - it's just "right" from arrival to departure. You can find more intricate menus, but none brings clever complexity together in such appealing & approachable food. There's more work in most of these dishes than most people realize, from recipe ideas to making them real to plating & presenting them so beautifully. You can spend hours exploring and discussing each one - or you can just eat them with no intellectual exercise. They're equally great for both kinds of diners. We had the signature smoked salmon appetizer (wow!), crudo (fluke tonight & always fine), scallops, bouillabaisse, & veal. Suit or jeans, it's up to you. Art, food, love - it's a culinary hat trick!

We dined at Blackfish for our one year anniversary and we couldn't have picked a more wonderful place to celebrate! The staff was amazing and very personable the atmosphere was relaxed and comforting. But the best part was the food! The plating was artisticly done and the layers of flavors were amazingly done! The Scottish salmon plate is a must when dining there. We had an incredible experience which was only made better by the staff bring us outr dessert with a celebratory candle on it. The service, food and dining experience was above par. I highly recommend Blackfish to anyone.

It was great! We chose the chefs choice. (5 courses) to be adventurous for starters we had the salmon appetizer, I have never had it served that way, it was smoked salmon wrapped around a small soft boiled egg that has a soft shell of panco crumbs around the egg. And then a round wafer on top. I know my description has not done it justice but you'll just have to try it! Each course was savory and we enjoyed it! Great service ! Thanks!

My favorite was the gently smoked Scot Tish Salmon with deep fried egg and raspberry beignet for desert was fabulous. I would definitely try this place again.

What a find. We were in town for parents weekend at Villanova and was fortunate enough to get a table for dinner Saturday night. While the menu is short it is clear that the chef and all the staff pay a tremendous amount of attention to every single detail. Every element on every plate tastes great, makes sense (to the overall dish) and works so elegantly. Service is highly professional but so very relaxed, which is perfect for the ambiance of this place. And it is BYOB which is always great and just another good reason to try this spot. We will be back - hopefully soon!

This was quite disenchanting. Blackfish has been forever written up in philadelphia articles, and hailed as top notch. As a resident of Philadelphia, I am accustomed to paying the price point of this restaurant for high-quality food. The portions were small, the plating sloppy and the tastes were lack luster. Definitely not worth the drive from Center City.

Having heard great things about Blackfish, we decided to go there for our anniversary dinner. What a meal! We both had the 3 course Restaurant Week meal, but had completely different things so we could try it all out. Everything was cooked well and presented well, it all tasted fresh and the flavor combinations were spot on. The service was just right - friendly and professional staff from the person who greeted us at the door all the way through, attentive but not at all pushy or hovering. We'll be back!

Although restaurant week in Conshohocken, my dining partner and I opted for the regular menu choices after reading other diners reviews. my 1st course of Norwegian Salmon was delightful, companions took one spoonful of the refrigerated brown squash liquid (soup) and put it aside, the 2nd course of Foie Gras was very smooth and buttery but a bit salty. Gnudi was good. 3rd course, I had been waiting with bated breath to try the Bouillabaisse after hearing people rave about it.. dry overcooked fish, unopened clams, with an extremely salty broth poured over.. Terrible. Doesn't the chef taste before putting these dishes out? No return visit ever for us.. $140 in the can. Waitress was lovely..

We are old customers. We were shocked to see Chip no longer has the tables covered with table cloths. We missed the ambiance and but for the exceptional and predictable wonderful food and staff would be less interested in returning. Why change a good thing that was perfection? One suspects the worst, a need to save on the laundry bill?

All you can say about the food here is that is fantastic. All 4 of us had the 5 course tasting, which means you don't know what your getting. Every course was presented beautifully and tasted amazing. The main course of lamb shank was just spectacular. Desert was a single doughnut that was light as air. We also had a mascarpone that was perfect. All I can say is that this restaurant never fails.

We sat next to philly's own George Perrier. They made just as much to do about him as with us. Black fish serves wonderfully bright food with the right amount of fuss. Tasting menu leaves you wanting for nothing. W/morsels of joy; an oyster w/ Myer lemon foam, big eye tuna swimming in a ponzuesk broth, garnished with tiny paper thing radishes, hearty lamb shank that melts in your mouth. Their chicken is something to experience. Tender with full chicken flavor. I also enjoyed corn pudding with panko fried poached egg, a cheese plate and several deserts. The fluffy doughnut on a custard that had an "aroma hint" of curry or nutmeg. This is Nyc standard food with reasonable Philly prices. It's not a "cheep joint" but would be big bucks in Nyc.

Just saying best meal of my life would be understating it. My first course of the Fluke Crudo was the single best dish I have ever eaten. Thin slices of fluke with daikon, cilantro, radish and orange were mouth watering delicious. Also was served so attractively that I wanted to take a picture of it with my cell phone. I resisted only because I'm unfamiliar with my new cell phone. 2nd and Main courses were also excellent but that first course was outstanding. Service was very good with various waitstaff bringing water, soft drinks, bread and the courses and our main waitress, Jackie, was very efficient and knowledgeable menu. Nothing fancy about the interior. 2 rooms, plain black tables with no tablecloth. Noise level rises as guests sit.

Our blackfish dining experience was nothing short of amazing. The restaurant setting is intimate and simple, and the food and service was phenomenal. My wife and I are foodies and dined to celebrate our anniversary. We ordered the Chef's tasting and it was a culinary indulgence. Every dish was dynamic and delicious. We were asked our flavor preferences and the chef just blew us away. The combination of great service and contemporary seafood focused dishes made us feel like we were the only ones in the restaurant and giddy with anticipation for what would be the next masterpiece dish.... I cant say enough

Amazingly disappointing. Tables excruciatingly close. Parmesan risotto:great flavor, but too firm and runny, cooked just shy of a good risotto. Beef course:maybe 6oz at at best- barely seasoned, on quinoa that must have been boiled in water-no flavor or whatsoever in either element. Best thing on the plate was the small disk of goat cheese. The signature bouillabaisse: No tuna as described, just 3 3oz pcs salmon and haddock, and a few mussels and clams. Broth was extremely bitter-I assume from the raw cabbage in it (why?) and an overdose of Pernod. I removed the fish and ate it separately so it wouldn't be bitter too, but then it was, again, completely flavorless.Salmon that didn't taste like anything, not even like salmon! Def won't go back.

An excellent restaurant with a number of excellent options on the food menu. We had the oysters which were divine and the salmon also excellent. The service far exceeded the current standards in the area and it was very refreshing to be in a restaurant where everything was done right and to high standards. We finished with the coffe creme brulee which was as fabulous as the first 2 courses. Another positive is the easy parking. The only thing this restaurant needs is a liquor license, but if you're aware you need to bring wine beforehand, you're set for a perfect night.

The ambience is clean, calm and pleasant. Could be considered romantic. The food was beautifully prepared and was a flavor explosion. Portions were right-sized. Left you wanting more (as in a return visit) but not stuffed. The broth for the Bouillabaisse was to die for -- wonderful color, rich bouquet and totally flavorful. The Wellfleet oysters with Meyer Lemon froth were wonderful. Good, crusty bread. Service was attentive without being overly fussy. The people take obvious pride in the place. I will go back!

very special place for special occassions to enjoy great food and service... although it is pricey, the menu is interesting, the food is prepared with care and the presentations are near perfect. Since it is BYOB, it helps to keep the overall cost down. The noise level can get high, so being near a loud table can be especially annoying. But as people leave, the noise reduces dramatically (probably the worst on Fri and Sat). Consistently a wonderful experience...

Beautiful food and space. Unfortunately, it seems that the gods were not with us when they chose our waitress. She decided that she would open the bottle of champagne before asking. It wasn't even chilled yet. The result: half a bottle of very expensive champagne all over the floor...was not happy. And the only thing she had to say was that she didn't 'do it on purpose'. If I am spending that much on a meal. Service HAS to be flawless

Our server was both pleasant and helpful, and our food was very good. My wife loved her appetizer, but was a little disappointed in the skate entrée. I had one of the signature appetizers(smoked salmon) and the lamb. Both of these were outstanding. Best restaurant experience I have had in a long time.
