Blackbird Kitchen and BarEnjoyableNice setting in downtown. If you are after 6PM parking on street works fine. If not it could be a problem, Interesting creations. My husbands sardines he reported to be really go. My halibut was dry unfortunately which you would not expect from a restaurant that has seafood as a speciality.
The wine list is good and the happy hour specials are nice options.
I would go again5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat pre theater eatsWhat a wonderful experience. The establishment was really nice. Service was fast, food was excellent.
We arrived and were greeted by the hostes and host. No place to sit at the small bar for a pre dinner drink, but there is a "lower" bar
and we sat there. I did not love the "lower" bar experience. Our drinks were very good. I had a punch with campari and champagne.
We shared the lobster and beet salad, and the halibut dinner entre. I seriously could have eaten the whole salad by myself and maybe would have ordered it for my dinner as well. It was out of this world. I will go back just for that salad the burrata was fresh and melted in my mouth. As far as I am concerned the lobster and beer salad is the most perfect salad for a long time.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Dining ExperienceWhat a wonderful place to enjoy great food! Although one of the items I ordered for dinner was disappointing, every other item I have had on the two occasions I have been there has been some of the best food I have had in a long time. The wait staff is very personable, professional and on point. Fabulous dining experience had by all in my group.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was wonderful, butThe food was wonderful, but the noise level was a bit too much.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food; noisy atmosphereThe food at this restaurant - though expensive for the portion size - was very good. However, my friend and I literally had to shout at each other in order to be heard. Even though we were seated upstairs and as far away from the bar as possible, the noise level was unbearable.5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMArtful Seafood. At last: a terrific seafood restaurant in Sacramento. Hip, urban vibe. Food was good across the board, from the Artic Char appetizer to the lavendar Panna Cotta dessert w meringue chips. Got extremely loud at the end of the evening when the restaurant seemed to be transformed into an after-hours bar.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSuper good food, reallySuper good food, really good bourbon drink. love the staff. Will definitely come back.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place was great! Daniel,This place was great! Daniel, the host was very charming and fun. The chef is amazing! We will definitely be going back.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom the appetizers to theFrom the appetizers to the dessert it was amazing ! Would definitely go back and recommend to friends!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWildly exceeded expectations! From the moment we walked in we were treated like royalty. They really get it. All the staff work together to make it a fun experience. They are energetic and professional. The food was exquisite... from the first taste of the amuse bouche, the soup, appetizers, main course and desert, each displayed a mastery of unusual combinations of flavors, each a wonderful surprise. If you enjoy food as an adventure you will be thrilled by Chef Kevin O'Connor. We tried Blackbird Kitchen on a recommendation and it wildly exceeded expectations! -john m-4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time was much betterSecond time was much better than the first. Food was fresh and hot. Great burger and delicious chowder. Only negative was the acoustics--very loud--have to speak with high volume to be heard. Service was slow--though didn't seem that busy.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLoud But Good FoodBLACKBIRD has been on my "gotta go" list for several months and tonight got there for a before-theatre dinner. A bunch of 20 somethings dancing around outside the front door made me doubtful, and the noise level inside was nearly unbearable until we were led upstairs into a side room for quieter dining. The noise died off with the end of Happy Hour. The $1.00 happy hour oysters were the best in Sacramento in recent memory. The clam chowder would be world class served anywhere on the west coast. No bacon! Onions sautéd in white wine, and red potatoes. Awesome! The day boat scallops were tender and tasty although a touch overcooked for my taste. Wine was good and reasonably priced, though limited. I will try this again, but not on Friday.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurant for foodiesIncredible seafood chowder! Waiter chose the menu for our group of four and every dish was fantastic.....definitely a restaurant for foodies. All ingredients were top quality and each dish was unique. Very innovative. Also very trendy and exciting atmosphere. Great bar scene too. Would definitely visit again.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing date nightFantastic date restaurant-- also very good for happy hour oysters and a quick drink. The whole bass was phenomenal, and despite neither of us being fans of banana creme pies, we found the banana cream pie at Blackbird was absolutely to die for. The wait staff was excellent, and our waiter was both very helpful and entertaining. Me and my girlfriend decided we would definitely return for another dinner sometime soon. Maybe next time I will give the lobster a shot!3/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
