Black Sheep RestaurantLoved it!We had a mulit-generational group -ages from 11 to 70 and everybody loved it! Great food, beautiful place, excellent service and awesome music on the radio! Did not feel like a Jax restaurant!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHad Mother's Day brunch atHad Mother's Day brunch at Black Sheep. The food was very good, service was outstanding and the bar tender made a mean Bloody Mary. We have eaten dinner there many times but this was the first time for brunch. We will come back!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Date Night.Great drink menu. The cocktails have an "old timey feel" to them with some intriguing flavor combinations. They have some great, local farm partners that feature the produce and meat very well. I am looking forward to going back and bringing friends with me!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding in JaxIt's really hard to find amazing food in Jacksonville, let alone a restaurant with an atmosphere of adult fun and relaxation. The food was amazing. The service was great. The atmosphere was lovely. I would definitely return again and again. The only downfall I can see is that it doesn't cater very much to people who don't eat meat, and in a neighborhood full of vegans, vegetarians, and hipsters that seems kind of important. However they seem to be doing so well that this is a very small thing.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AM5 Points Innovative DiningGood value for prices with high quality ingredients from organic farms and innovative menu items5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGNO for my 40thMy girlfriends and I had dinner there for my 40th birthday. I had heard great things about the restaurant and love Orsay, so we have it a go. We were a party of 8 and had a great table right near the window. The waitress was amazing, the food was great and the drinks kept coming. We will definitely be back.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMI really enjoyed my meal hereWe arrived for a late dinner on a very rainy Saturday night and the place was still packed. I was a little nervous about how things were going to go because the staff is so very young. I figured, incorrectly, that because our server was so young, that she wouldnt be able to live up to the caliber of the food. Boy was I wrong. Olivia, the waitress was very attentive and knew her stuff. Great job for her!
The food was also some of the best I have had in a while. I had the chicken and dumplings with gorgeous fresh peas and carrots. Yum. Also as a side were the cheese grits. So smooth and creamy, they reminded me of rice pudding. Delicious. I would definitely return again.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMNice restarauntThe place has a nice ambiance to it and service is good. Food is good but my braised short ribs were very salty. The pork belly and ceviche was very good for appetizers. I would recommend this place for lunch more than dinner.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband is a chef at aMy husband is a chef at a 5-Star resort. We enjoy finding new restaurants but it is difficult to impress him with food. He is much more interested in the overall dining exprerience than the food. He thinks good food should be a given when you go out to dine. We drove about 70 minutes to check out Black Sheep Restaurant and were not disappointed! The atmosphere was contemporary yet rustic and the employees were very friendly. The view from our table to the downtown area added an element of romance to our meal. The menu was fun and it wasn't too pricey. The caesar salad was simple but delcious, as was my husband's fennel salad. The butterscotch creme brulee was OUTRAGEOUSLY delicious, and the fried green olives were amazing!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBaa baa black sheepWhat a wonderful new addition to such a beautiful, treasured area of Jacksonville . The unique and modern design attracts the eye and crowd to Black Sheep. Once inside the ambiance takes hold an the moving energy of the city of lights ignites. Even with the busy flow patrons can be seated comfortably, and cozy . If you get a chance peep up to the rooftop, while the house bar does have a variety drinks and wines, the view is what will keep you there. The dining menu is discrete and complete; Perfectly paired dishes like the Duck Poutain or the Shrimp and grits bring the restaurant full circle as flavor ignites. New York style dining and beautiful decor to match both come together for an overall very pleasurable dining experience.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat DiningOnly issue I had (and this may have been from Dining on a Tuesday evening) was that they were out of the beer I requested as well as one my girlfriend requested, and then out of one of the appetizers I requested. I like the limited menu that they are starting with (there's still something for everyone), but they should be able to keep things in stock.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat experienceFrom the hostess to checking out everything was perfect! Great comfort food! Looking forward to our next visit!!!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was great experience andIt was great experience and the food was fantastic. The food was great and so was the service. The roof top bar was very nice to enjoy cocktails prior to dinner!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great drinks, fab findI've been to Black Sheep a total of 4 times and I have never been disappointed. The food is fabulous. The cocktail list is unique. This restaurant has it all. You can either have an intimate early dinner with a friend or come in and mingle over late night drinks. It does get very busy during dinner so reservations are a must if you desire a table. I wish this restaurant appeared years ago. Great asset to the Riverside area!4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat meal, friendly servicegreat meal, friendly service and wish we had asked for a table "rooftop" - beautiful setting upstairs!!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAmbiance a 10! Food selection needFabulous ambiance on the roof! With hundreds of restaurants to choose from in the area, for atmosphere, this is now our number one! But can you work on the menu, and the wine list? Menu needs a few more selections, not a lot, just a few more. Beer & cocktail list is excellent.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMRooftop bar is very nice.Rooftop bar is very nice. Dinner was great. Would probably go again.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMDavid JGreat restaurant located in the historical 5 Points area. Defintiely a must for either the casual diner or foodie at heart.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food AND fun!Incredible food! I loved the selection, especially the Sweet Grass Diary Cheeses from my hometown, Thomasville, GA! This is my new favorite in Jacksonville.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and ServiceWe went with another couple for my Husband's birthday. We loved the ambiance, food, and had an exceptional waiter. We will definitely be back.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOMG!!! My first thought wasOMG!!! My first thought was this place is beautiful. The ambiance was MAGNIFICENT. Once seated and looked over the menu, I was a bit shocked at the prices on such limited options. Our food was delicious. Didn't get a chance to visit the roof top. I would return but I don't think I would do dinner, maybe just cocktails with some friends.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely worth it!This was a great dining experience! Even at peak hours, they were able to handle last-minute changes took our party-of-three to a party-of-five. The service was super-attentive, but not overbearing. The look and feel of the restaurant was definitely upscale. The menu included a good variety of offerings of modest sized-portions. This also seemed like a popular meeting place after work.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMy friend and I chose BlackMy friend and I chose Black Sheep for Girls Night Out and it was definitely a good pick! The ambiance is more New York City than Jax -- very cool. The food was good, but my only complaint was that there was not much for vegetarians/vegans (which I am), and even the peas & carrots were soaked in butter. Hopefully they will add more veg-friendly options soon.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMSweet breads, scallops, duck entreesThis is a second meal here. Service outstanding (arrived slightly before 5PM). Wish they were a bit more creative (CHEW was a much more interesting adventure with food !) and this ends up being a good bistro type place (fine for the majority, we just miss the lovely dishes from CHEW--especially the sweet breads and new creations whenever we were there). Black Sheep is quite good, just not exciting as I had hoped coming from these chefs.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMWent to Black Sheep for myWent to Black Sheep for my wifes birthday on a Thursday night and both of us had excellent meals. She had salmon and I the beef short ribs. Service was top notch and the roof top bar nice but a little windy that night. Will be back again to try more of the menu.4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a menu! WE could haveWhat a menu! WE could have ordered 5-6 items.
My wife's birthday...our group was greeted by one of the best waitresses in Jax with a glass of champagne.
The desserts are awesome.
Highly recommend this place4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMMe and a couple friends wentMe and a couple friends went to Black Sheep the other night for dinner and drinks. We had the poutin which was delicious. For dinner I had the burger with french fries. It was a little on the salty side but it was a decent burger. The chipotle aioli served with the french fries was great. For dessert we had the vanilla milkshake with housemade oreos - great ending to an overall delicious dinner. Our server was outstanding too. He was very attentive, knowledgeable and accommodating to our requests. Definitely a place to check out in the Riverside area.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA good fun choice. The foodA good fun choice. The food is great, the menu has interesting choices (the sides are well worth ordering) the service is attentive and the prices are reasonable.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMService was friendly, efficientService was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Food was delicious, and I liked that the restaurant uses local produce and meats from Black Hog Farms. Will be on my brunch list from now on!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find in Jacksonville.Great find in Jacksonville. Food is amazing. Perfect for Date night.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fantastic andThe food was fantastic and our waiter really knew his menu and ingredients and was perfect.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and ambianceExcellent food and ambiance in this restaurant. Amazing rooftop bar. Plenty of indoor and outdoor space. Don't forget to make reservation or you may be out of luck getting a table.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my fourth time eatingThis was my fourth time eating at Black Sheep. I have not had a bad bite yet, the staff is consistently prompt and helpful. The entrees have interesting combinations which provides a lot of fun for the palette! I do wish that there were more choices for meals without pork, more healthy veggie options would balance the menu better. The patio bar is a fun experience when the weather permits which is most of the time.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMNight with the Neighbor .appetizer are too pricy and the portion does not match price paid. One little crab cake for $14 and three tiny shrimp for ceviche for $12. Increase the portion or reduce the price.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the restaurant. WeLoved the restaurant. We had four in our party and sitting at a table for four made things a bit tight but that's a minor issue. Everything overall was great.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMy son's favorite restaurantMy son's favorite restaurant in JAX. Next time I would ask for a little quieter table so I could hear the conversation better.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMNot a Black Sheep in our book! :)This restaurant fails to let us down. We absolutely love it!! We were celebrating our anniversary so we had brunch on the patio, then we spent the afternoon on the roof-top bar and were not disappointed! Love this place - I hope it lasts in the Riverside / 5Points area. (the price point was about $35 per person for lunch including alcoholic beverages)3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for an early dinnerWe went for an early dinner last Friday before a charity event. Good thing we had reservations because this is a hot spot! The service was great - the wait staff very knowledgable and provided insight on the history of the classic cocktails. The cheese plate was very nice, the salad was dressed perfectly. We also had a flounder special that was very good.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLocally sourced farm-to-tableLocally sourced farm-to-table cuisine is front-and-center here, with sustainable fish and grass-fed beef items. Service and ambience are impeccably unpretentious.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA great new experience for the areaThe only thing I found slightly odd was that if you were a first time diner that the downstairs hostesses did not really do well at directing you to the rooftop bar. Once you find the elevators you walk into a foyer with several doors but no signs telling you where to go. You can walk into the Server Station very easily.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMNew FavoriteFarm to table goodness! All local ingredients and a great micro brew selection.
I had the short ribs and it was awesome. ROOFTOP bar in Jax..enough said!3/11/2013 12:00:00 AMJacksonville dining growing upWell done space. Great food especially duck panini.
