First time here. Food was excellent. Good variety on the menu. Chicken liver parfait, salt cod tortellini, risotto, buffalo cheese with olive - all excellent! Good place to go if you are partial to pork. Service informal but not too casual. Used to have white table cloths? Bring em back - great complement to the food. We'll definitely go back.

We were disappointed. The menu was small. Not alot to choose from, and what we did get were small portion sizes for the price. Having been to spain and experienced their tapas and meals, we were very unimpressed. We won't be back

The restaurant is decorated very nicely. We started with a special cocktail and it was nice that it was happy hour and our delicious prosecco and grapefruit bitters cocktail was half price. It has a small menu but the two dishes we tried were very tasty and well presented. The pork sausage with figs was just amazing ... I am still thinking about it! Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Would like to go back for sure.

I took my daughter here for her Birthday, which I shared with the restaurant and they did not seem to respond even with a small token. The appetizer we had was the pork creamy pate, it was delicious. My main was the pickerel which seemed tough and dry, my daughter had the pulled pork sandwich which average. I must say I was a bit disappointed for her as we do not get to enjoy lunch out together that often.

I recently dined for lunch and had the Cioppino (delicious) and just what I was looking for in a lunch meeting meal; not overly filling, just the right amount of food, balance of flavours. I left satisfied and not needing to take a nap, which for me, is a perfect lunch spot.

Love this restaurant!!! So European and just great tasting well cooked, well presented food. Served hot and scrumptious ..... They connect with your needs...whether it is a intimate dinner for 2 or a casual dinner for 4. We love sitting up at the bar and watching food prep, talking with the chefs. Allison is a total delight, congratulations on her wedding. I recommend the beef cheeks in risotto ......!!!!

We just ate here for the first time and loved it all. Our servers were very well informed and attentive, it was busy without being crowded or noisy. Between the 4 of us we got to sample several items. The pork dogs were a favourite but everything was delicious. Can't wait to go back.

Went for an early Friday night dinner as it was my wife's birthday so the two of us and our two adult children. The pull was the iberico ham appetizer. The food was very good, perhaps outstanding but for $300 I expect a bit more than 1 appetizer (the iberico ham) shared amongst four, four mains, no dessert, no coffee/tea and still water. Admittedly $100 of the total bill was liquor but at that point all ratings become relative to the $ you are spending. What becomes good service perhaps isn't quite as good when the server has to look at a card to get the daily specials right. Same thing for the food: the Pork Shank was incredibly well done - if it was a $200 bill I would say outstanding but for $300 perhaps not.

This is my second visit to Black Pig, the first was on a Sunday night when it was one of the few places we found open. Both visits have been marked by outstanding and friendly service which certainly drew me back the second time. The decor is mostly black and white, clean and modern but not especially cozy. Food menu is a bit limited with a "Pig Special" and a "Fish Special" every day. The first time I had the "Pig Burger" special which was excellent although the slab of raw mozzarella was a bit too big for the burger. The pork was excellent. My second visit I had the "Pork Spareribs" special and they were very good, not too sweet or saucy, just very well prepared ribs. Definitely a bistro, worth a visit for sure.

We went as a group of four with my 8 year old and experienced a great dining experirience! The food was delicious and we shared our plates and got to try a bigger variety that way and I have to say that it was all really well cooked, well seasoned and super tasty. Wine list is really well assembled and has some "fun" cocktails, aperitifs and wine. We will go back for dinner for sure. You absolutely have to try the Jamon, it is absolutely life changing!

I brought my boyfriend here for his 30th birthday. We were seated 20 minutes past our reservation, and our server forgot about our entree ("Ready for dessert?" after appetizers), then ignored us for half an hour while someone else came to apologize for the wait. We never got drinks or water refilled. The food is pretty unique but doesn't make up for the service.

Second trip to Black Pig, for lunch rather than dinner, and once again they delivered a great meal. The French Onion grilled cheese sandwich was declared "one of the top 5 sandwiches in all of Calgary" by my foodie guest, and a thoroughly satisfied silence from our third lunch companion spoke to his deep enjoyment of the Chicken & Chorizo sandwich. Service could be polished up a bit, but it was evident the fellow was trying his best, keen to help, and it did not diminish the food or ambiance. We were approached by one of the owners to check on us, which is always pleasant.

From the space to the food The Black Pig shows a deep level of care and thought by the owners. We went there for a special occasion and were treated exceptionally well, in addition to being treated to an outstanding tasting menu. Larry S., one of the owners, was a gracious host and made us feel very welcome at Black Pig. The Jamon Iberico was a particular draw for us (and it is excellent), however the Salt Cod Tortellini stole the show in spectacular fashion. My wife and I highly recommend Black Pig for a wonderful casual upscale meal or special occasion.

This is a great little spot in Bridgeland. Nice decor, comfortable and welcoming and attentive service. We tried various items on the menu and shared them. All were fantastic but this is not a tapas bar and as such the selection is comparatively limited - my only issue. But try it, you'll love what they have.

We went for happy hour for tapas and wine. The Happy Hour had only one red and one white to choose from. There were limited appetizers as tapas. The soup was good but pricey, the pasta was good but not for 26 dollars. We have been here three times hoping to be blown away and as of yet have not. It is not an actual 'Happy Hour' especially when their website suggested a lot more choices than what was offered to us.

Disappointed in the lack of variety for a Spanish influenced restaurant it did not resemble the menus that we are used to in Spain. The meal was good but over priced. The service was excellent, prompt, friendly and helpful. For those looking for an authentic Spanish meal, the Black Pig is not the place to go.

Almost everything was great. Quiet Sunday night early dinner. Liver parfait was wonderful but the salt cod tortellini was not value for money. I had been hearing great things about this little gem from family, and decided to make it a night. Online, the menu looks pretty basic, with some unusual items, like "Pork and Beans"!!?? At an up and coming Bistro? This I had to see. Alison Bieber, the executive chef and one of the ownership partners, is well-known in Calgary restaurant circles for her excellence in cooking, and I assumed the dish would not be the "pork and beans" you are likely thinking about right now. I was right. WOW. Ambience, preparation, tastes were superb. This little bistro is not to be missed. Try the Chicken Liver Parfait (Alison's signature dish), and the Pork and Beans (the house specialty) I highly doubt you will be disappointed.

I was very pleased with this little gem in Bridgeland. After reading some reviews, I decided to book lunch there with a friend on a recent Friday. The ambience is definitely bistro style and they did a great job. Although we didn't have any wine, I scanned the list which appeared to have a good selection of Spanish wines which would go wonderfully with the Iberico. It was surprisingly quiet at 12:30 on a Friday, but great for an opportunity to see a friend who had been travelling for a year. The wait staff was very good. I started with the vine ripened tomato gazpacho and it was excellent. We both had the Serrano ham sandwich with Manchego cheese and some pickled vegetables on the side. Thoroughly enjoyed it all and I will be back.

We've heard so much about Black Pig Bistro that we had to check it out. The location is great with lots of parking, the decor is comfortable, bright and welcoming... and the food.... the food was delicious. My husband and I shared the Iberico Ham appetizer, and it was heaven on a plate. They served a baguette with a light tomatoe spread, combined with the slightly crispy texture of the Iberico Ham, you have perfection! My husband had the cioppini; they were generous with the seafood and combined with the wonderful smell/taste of saffron, it was a delcious golden beauty! I had the chorizo and chicken,.. three words - crispy chicken skin.... yum!! Next time, I think I'll ask for a crispy chicken skin sandwich. :)
