Described as contemporary American cuisine, Black Pearl's menu is focused on using fresh, locally produced ingredients that deliver a fullness of flavor which can only come from foods produced and prepared in a conscientious way. For the diner, that means our changing menu will feature seasonal foods, grown locally, and picked fresh to ensure their fullest flavor. From fruits and vegetables to meat and poultry, Black Pearl is committed to serving foods that are grown and raised in a way that shows respect for nature, and, of course, a similar respect for those who produce them and you who consume them. In addition to our regular menu selections, Black Pearl features a fresh raw oyster bar. With a carefully chosen selection of delectable oysters at all times, the raw bar has become a dining destination of its own.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Never had a bad meal here. Great street, great atmosphere. Delicious food with a great wine list."

  • "I loved the setup of the place and it was such a nice night, they opened the front wall window and had people dining outside. We had a table right at the top of the couple stairs that lead down into the kitchen and it was really cool and unique to see how great the kitchen ran and the smells that came from it. All of the food we ordered was excellent and I will be going back to try more. I will say that you will pay more on the high end for a night out at this restaurant but it was completely worth the expense for a fantastic dining experience."

  • "The birthday girl is a vegetarian and she loved brunch at Black Pearl. There were many...and I mean many...choices for her to choose from. She was delighted with all the options for vegetarians."

  • "Really enjoyed the waiter who was very knowledgeable about botht the food and drink. Wonderful atomosphere."

  • "Street parking was a big headache, avoid at all cost. Good ambience and good service. Food was novelty with claims of 90% local ingradient. Vegetarian options are limited and not worth the trip."

  • "menu appeared very limited whatever alcohol I asked for they didn't have the cheese plate was very good pork entrée was not"

  • "My boyfriend and I attended Black Pearl for restaurant week for a date night. Immediately the staff greeted us with warm welcomes and introduced us to marvelous wine list at our choice of table (the place was very popular with many tables already taken, and they still gave us an opportunity to select where we'd feel most comfortable). The food was delicious and had beautiful presentation, and the staff did everything to cater to our needs (they often offer half of select wines; even though they did not offer it this day, they still gave it to us at our request). The place and food were perfect!"

  • "We ordered omlettes and Crab Bennie (eggs benedict with crab) and the food was delicious Ambiance is cozy and pretty and service was friendly and fast. Overall I would recommend this restaurant to others. The food was a high quality overall as well."

  • "We took a group of 6 to Black Pearl to celebrate my mom's 71st birthday. Our waitress was so incredibly rude, it was unbelievable. She made snide comments, talked down to us, ignored several requests...need I go on? None of us will ever recommend or go back to this restaurant again. What a waste of time and money! This individual ruined our birthday party and should be fired!"

  • "Hard to know where to start with the compliments. Our server was incredible: knowledgeable; perfect timing of attention; engaging. The food was absolutely incredible. Appetizers (the calamari and the cheese/meat plate are highly recommended--especially the pate); Entrees: streak, scallops, fish were all fabulous. We didn't have quite enough room for dessert but the coffee was wonderful, too. Oh, and our pre-dinner cocktails were equally wonderful. Worth every penny."

  • "The food has always been sometimes weird, sometimes amazing. But the effects of a busy Restaurant Week showed in their (lack of) service. I will not be back."

  • "My boyfriend and I recently dined here during restaurant week. We were both disappointed in the service and atmosphere. We were promptly seated in the main dining room in a narrow table along the wall. The patrons on my right and left felt closer than my boyfriend across the table. After many introductions by the host and waiter, the service disappeared for 10 minutes before taking our drink order. Our appetizers arrived before our drinks. A basket of bread was served with our appetizer. The food was good but amidst the crowd and bustle, it was not an enjoyable meal. I've been to Black Pearl before but just for drinks or a solo meal at the bar, which is always a lot of fun."

  • "I went to Black Pearl for 5280 and was not very satisfied. The portions were very small, and since we had some wine and left with a 400$ bill I expected a lot more. I hear the brunch there is fantastic and maybe it was just the prefixed 5280 menu however I was unimpressed and left hungry. They served us bread at the beginning (there were 7 of us), and there was 1 tiny thing of butter. The shrimp was overcooked and the shells were still on it. I guess I just really wanted to get my moneys worth and I do not feel like that happened. I live pretty much next door, so I was a tad disappointed. I was also very excited for restaurant week and this was the only place I picked and I really wanted to leave impressed."

  • "Some food came our burned beyond edible. Waiter took care of it but it shouldn't have happened in what is supposed to be a quality restaurant. The place was too noisy to carry on a conversation."

  • "Really lovely restaurant where the service is fantastic, very little wait time between each course, and the food is great. Definitely will go back."

  • "Portions - Skimpy. Food - Cold. Pace - Rushed. We won't be doing restaurant week again since this is the third time we've had this type of experience. And we won't be going back to the Black Pearl either. Their chance to make a good first impression is gone."

  • "Went for 5280 but will definitely go again as food was great and service top notch."

  • "Enjoyed the dining! Staff was knowledgable and courteous. Fine dining and delicious food. Brussel sprouts, special (I think a steak bouche) and pan seared scallops were delicious. Honey butter with the bread is sweet. Dessert is great too!"

  • "The sun was out and the big sliding doors were open. We sat inside but felt "outside" on a lovely day. Gracious serving and great compact menu and drinks made a lovely brunch with lots to talk about and enjoy. Not too crowded and not void of people.....just right. Everyone was friendly, food was great. Go, enjoy!"

  • "Black Pearl is one of my go to restaurants for brunch. The menu offers something for everyone, and is set at a good price point. Additonally, they have the bottomless mimosas special for brunch. They never let the glass fall below half full! The food is pretty spectacular as well -- try the quiche when they have it on special. What really makes the Black Pearl shine is the service. We had a waitress who was incredibly attentive without interrupting the conversation. Even when our waitress had her hands full, the other waitstaff checked in on our water and mimosas to make sure everything was full and delicious. Truly a streamlined restaurant."

  • "We were waiting to be seating for our 8:30pm dinner reservation. Sat at the bar for a drink and the bar tender (from Rhode Island) was so awesome, we ended up just sitting there for dinner instead. Had a great time, great food and great company. Would definitely recommend the Black Pearl."

  • "My husband and I went for Valentines day and I ordered the Valentines menu and my husband shared. As a main dish he ordered lam stroganoff. The Valentines menu started off with a maine lobster salad. Second course was tomato soup with half a grilled cheese sandwich. Third course was mussels with a grilled chiabatta. fourth course was chattaubriand with fingerling potatoes and dessert was a crepe cake. French pressed coffee to top everything off. The whole meal was fantastic and the portions were great, but when the dessert came it was so tiny it was finished in 3 bites. Really!. It was quite disappointing because of the size of the other portions. Oh wee. Still a great place tho. Will go back. I'll just ask how big the dessert is next time."

  • "The lamb stroganoff and vegetable pilaf were both excellent, as we're the Boring salad and Pear salad. We found the noise level to be a bit high for our taste, and the service, although friendly, was just a bit slow. Overall a pleasant evening and we will certainly return."

  • "Not as good as the last time we were here. Main dish "just OK" appetizer and dessert better"

  • "Excellent food! Scallops and pork tenderloin were outstanding, and shisito peppers are a must order. Also the best Cosmo martini in town. Server was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Will be back soon for sure! Great place for date night, girls night and special occasions."

  • "Great food and great service. Took my fiance here for her birthday and she loved it. You must try the skillet cookie! It's the best."

  • "This was our first visit to Black Pearl and we were very happy with the meal. I had the blue cheese souffle starter and lamb stroganoff for my entree. Both were excellent. My husband had the vichyssoise, which was served hot, and was delicious. His entree was squab, prepared with hominy. We did not care for the texture of the hominy, but otherwise the dish was very good. The wait staff were attentive but not overbearing. Overall an excellent meal in a charming atmosphere."

  • "My wife and I tried the Lamb Stroganoff and the Pork Tenderloin with Polenta and both were very good. The "Boring" and the "Farroh" salads were very tasty as was the white chocolate macadamia cookie with chocolate Ice cream at the end of our meal. Our table was upstairs in the loft area, which is a small area where you probably do not want to sit if you want to have a private conversation."

  • "We had gone to the Black Pearl a couple of weeks ago and it was incredible so we thought we would go back prior to a concert for a date night. In the short time between visits, the restaurant changed owners and chef. We weren't as thrilled. The food was pretty good, but maybe not worth the price any longer. The menu had completely changed, which is fine, but there really wasn't much on the menu that was attractive to us."

  • "The black pearl was pleasant, although the food was not exactly exceptional. Mediocre would be more like it. Service, however, was very good."

  • "On the special occasion of my son's college graduation, this place made the event everything I'd hoped for. The food was fabulous. The service impeccable. And we could hear each other talk! Everyone's meals were perfection. The calamari was the best I've ever had -- and that's saying a lot. I've never written a review before, but I was so appreciative to have found this gem."
