Entree was a rib-eye. Came out way over cooked so it had to be replaced. Jeremy (mgr) took care of that so the next one was under cooked of course but I at it. The food was quite tasty and the service was great - they checked on us at all the right times. I would have given 5 stars except that they overcooked my steak and I had to send it back. My husband got through nearly his whole dinner before I got mine back. Though they were good about updating me on when I would get my meal, it was disappointing that a free dessert or something similar wasn't offered up for the wait and the fact that we couldn't eat together. The steak however was delicious with the sauce and the potato wedges had a good flavor to them. It was delicious and different from calamari at other restaurants as it was the body meat instead of just the tentacles. The ambiance and location were really nice and felt really local. It was a little noisy, but that was mostly because of the people we were seated next to. The pork tenderloin was great. The shrimp roll was a pizza crust with coleslaw and grilled shrimp on top. The pear and goat cheese tart with arugula salad was very good. The service is very knowledgeable and attentive. Some of the menu items are fairly unique like Yak so you have to be adventuresome. Fabulous birthday dinner with just my hubby. Everything was perfect from Moscow Mule to Mexican Chocolate Cake! Noel, our waiter, was outstanding and the cheerful waitress that delivered our dinners was very helpful with finding out what was in my husband's appetizer that was so very yummy! The calamari was the best I have ever eaten - thick, tender, excellent flavor, generous portions. The entrees were delicious too. The service was superior. Very attentive with water, bread and checking on service. Did a great job of "up selling" too - no pressure, just good descriptions and offerings. The server knew a lot about wine too.
We came with a living social ad and we will be back to eat here again - we want to eat at the outdoor fire table and try brunch too. It was delicious, though the waiter said it would be an 8 oz portion - no way was it 8 oz. There were probably 8 medallions the size of a quarter and only 1/4 inch thick. It must be the freshness of their seasonal offerings. We have been to Black Pearl a few times and always start with the Pistachio calamari- we are charmed by the unique flavor and chunky pieces the appetizer offers. I will admit, I didn't think there was anything special you could do with catfish.. but I was intrigued by the ancho chili hollandaise and lime crema. WOW! It was DELICIOUS! The sweet potatoes and rainbow chard were perfectly done and enhanced the meal without overwhelming the fish, which is easy to do. Chip, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable.
