A word from Black Cat
Black Cat Farm Table Bistro serves inspired, organic cuisine based on the just-picked produce from its own 130 acre farm. By day, Chef-Farmer Eric Skokan cares for the vegetables out in his fields. Each evening finds him in the kitchen crafting dishes on his daily changing menu.

The restaurant's wine list places the great wines of the world side-by-side with small, off-the-beaten-path producers from lesser-known regions.

Daily pairing menus give our sommeliers ample opportunity to dip into the 400+ selection cellar, and vary in focus from Northern Italy to organic wines of the Pacific Northwest.

Hand-crafted, seasonal cocktails featuring artisanal spirits and local ingredients show the talent of our professional mixologists who make our bar spring to life.

The Black Cat has a lively, warm atmosphere in its intimate dining room. It is located in the heart of Boulder, CO, just off the historic Pearl Street Mall.

Every detail of our meal was perfect from the way we were greeted to our table to the attention we received from both our waiter and the sommelier. We had a chef starter of raw salmon, then an heirloom salad and we each had the duck. Most of the time when I order a main course, it doesn't come with much more than the meat and maybe an afterthought of a starch and veggie. When the plates arrived, I was amazed at how much food we received and how incredible it was.

The Black Cat was as good as any place I have been in NYC. And that includes the highest rated by The New York Times. I am so pleased to find such great quality food and service that was just outstanding. We sat by the window looking in on the kitchen, and the care given to each dish was breathtaking. Thank you.

Besides the dinner events that take place directly on the actual farm that sources the food, Black Cat is the truest form of farm-to-table. Chef/Farmer Eric not only plans, plants, raises, husbands and harvests almost the entire menu, he can also give you the details on how he organically manages moths that love to worm their way into cabbages by timing his plantings in alternate rows with other moth attractors (believe me, I asked). How's that for getting to know your farmer!

This has been the meal I've been missing since I moved from San Francisco to Colorado 10 years ago. Amazing farm to table cuisine in a sophisticated and romantic atmosphere. The waiters were so knowledgeable and friendly, the chef/owner came over and chatted for 10 minutes and my husband and I can't wait to go back. Saving our pennies!! Thank you Black Cat for a fantastic evening.

Wanting to go to Black Cat since our first visit a couple of years ago, we booked a table for our Anniversary celebration. And like the first, Black Cat didn't disappoint one bit; in fact, we left feeling more impressed than after our first visit. We did the tasting menu -- paired with their premium wines -- and are *so* glad we did. Each course and wine was a surprise up until the point it was delivered to our table, and we cleared the plate on each course, and left not a drop of wine left in our glasses. Everything was exceptional, and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable about what went into each course, as well as some amazing details on the wine being service.

What a gorgeous space!! Really well designed. Interesting vodka/gin choices although I dislike the "trendy" choice of the champagne coupe as a martini server. The charcuterie offering here was top notch--fresh and innovative. Unfortunately, the entrees were burdensomely heavy- too many favors juxtaposed on one plate. Almost shockingly over-priced. If you like a cool dining vibe, this could work for you. If you're looking for thoughtful food prep, you should choose Black Cat for a cocktail and first-course and find another restaurant tor entrees.

Yet again, Black Cat does not disappoint. This is our fifth time at the restaurant and the food was the best yet! We did the tasting menu and the kitchen knocked it out of the park with each dish. Eric was roaming the restaurant chatting with guests speaking about the food and the farm. I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great meal.

My husband and I chose Black Cat for a "date night" and were very pleased with the entire experience. We did both the Chef's Tastimg menu and the wine pairings. Everything was very fresh (love the farm to table concept) and the wines were very good. We especially liked the smoked trout and the rabbit terrine. We stayed for 2 and 1/2 hours and never felt rushed. The staff answered all of our questions and the chef visited the table twice. It was a wonderful evening and ranks number 1 on our list of dining experiences.

Our group of 6 did not know what a treat we were in for when I made reservations at Black Cat! It was described to us as "farm to table", but it is much more! I would say it was the best farm to table food I have had. The story behind Black Cat, and the Black Cat Farm where the food is grown, is a sweet one. The kitchen is proudly on display behind large glass windows. The ambiance suggests Parisian Romance, and the staff is sincere, knowledgable, and very attentive (but not too much). Next time in, I will be sure to order the Chef's sampling menu! Enjoy! You will not be disappointed.

The Chef's tasting menu and wine paring was fantastic. The Chef came to the table with a couple of the courses to tell the story of the dish. It was obvious that he loves food and loves to cook. He described being in the farm fields that morning selecting fresh produce and how his evening dishes evolve from what he discovered there. His energy and talents were quite evident as the entire meal was fresh, finely crafted and delicious. Our somallier complimented not only the dining experience but also the social experience. He has an incredible knowledge of wine and offered wonderful tastings complimenting each plate. He presented them with great technical descriptions and an affable personality that we looked forward to with each course.

We have enjoyed the dining experience at Black Cat on four different occasions in the last 2 years. We are drawn to the amazing food and wine, but we don't go as often as we would like because it is a bit pricey. Probably the finest meal I've had in the US. Had the chef's tasting menu, both regular and vegetarian versions at our table, and a recommended wine. Incredible subtle flavors, textures and creative combinations of fresh local ingredients for six courses and dessert. Each course was accompanied by an explanation of the components and preparation. Pleasant atmosphere, attentive service, nice pacing, superb food...what more could you ask? I've enjoyed Chef Eric's greens from the farmers market for years and this completes the picture.

The food is fantastic, and their chef's tasting makes it great for anyone that doesn't want to make choices. You never really know what you're going to get, and as far as I'm concerned, that's a great thing. For those who know exactly what type of food they want, they have a regular menu to make a selection from. The service there is impeccable, I was never wondering where the wait staff was.
