First is San Fereolo from Piemonte, a winery whose commitment to making serious wine from the local dolcetto grape has garnered international recognition. San Fereolo's Dolcetto Superiore wine is aged in casks for 2 years and is one of the most powerful wines being made from the grape today.
The second is Fattoria San Lorenzo from Le Marche. The most fascinating of their wines is the Il San Lorenzo, a 100% verdicchio wine aged on its lees for 10 years and produced in only the best years.
Both wineries are biodynamic, a method which aims to improve the health of land and its surrounding ecosystem through farming.
Please join us for an 8 course meal with Amy Wadman, Natalino Crognaletti, and Mirco Lucamarini featuring Black Cat Farm chicken, pork, lamb, and produce.

A word from Black Cat
Black Cat Farm Table Bistro serves inspired, organic cuisine based on the just-picked produce from its own 130 acre farm. By day, Chef-Farmer Eric Skokan cares for the vegetables out in his fields. Each evening finds him in the kitchen crafting dishes on his daily changing menu.
The restaurant's wine list places the great wines of the world side-by-side with small, off-the-beaten-path producers from lesser-known regions. Daily pairing menus give our sommeliers ample opportunity to dip into the 400+ selection cellar, and vary in focus from Northern Italy to organic wines of the Pacific Northwest. Hand-crafted, seasonal cocktails featuring artisanal spirits and local ingredients show the talent of our professional mixologists who make our bar spring to life. The Black Cat has a lively, warm atmosphere in its intimate dining room.

Diner Reviews
  • "We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had never dined here before. My chef instructor at the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts said it was 92% sustainable. I love the concept of zero waste. We had the 6 course chef tasting and was delighted. They were very accommodative with my husband's fish allergy and brought him a beet salad while I got the cured trout for one of our appetizers. From start to finish, each course surprised us with the robust flavors of spring and was beautifully presented by the knowledgeable staff. We were impressed that the sommelier asked how the course with oriechette was and relayed it back to the chef. We'll definitely return."

  • "Our dining experience was top notch. The chef perfectly accommodated any special requests (ie gluten free) & everything was just delicious! The only suggestion i have for improvement is that at times the wait staff seemd a bit hovering. I would rather have that then be left wanting, but at times it was a touch too much and disruptive to our conversation. The plus side of course is that we had excellent service. It was also such a treat to be in a quiet intimate dining setting. Looking fwd to another visit soon."

  • "Some of the best food you will find in Boulder served by the nicest staff ever. Eat here!"

  • "Excellent food, service and ambiance from start to finish. We had the parsnip soup and seared salmon to begin which set great expectation for the meal. The beef and sturgeon were simply wonderful followed by a cheescake dessert that was heavenly. A super foodie experience."

  • "We have celebrated special occasions at Black Cat for several years. This last visit was our 43rd wedding anniversary and our son and daughter in law's 6 mo. Wedding anniversary. Lovely dining experience, slow pace with plenty of time for conversation. The food was outstanding, 5 course chief's special with wine pairing. Just the right amount. We left satisfied, not stuffed. Great service too!"

  • "I hadn't been to Black Cat for a number of years. I was quite disappointed. In general, I think they are trying too hard and that the prices have become too high for the quality of the meal. The service was pretentious to the point of invasiveness. Please do not refold my napkin when I visit the restroom. DO NOT reposition my silverware for me while I am dining."

  • "Enjoyed an evening with 5 friends from the east coast. We all tried the chefs menu, which is essentially the chefs choice on a multi-course dining experience...and so glad we did! An absolute delight!! Amazing food, most organically raised, beautiful wine list and absolutely impeccable service! We can't wait to return!"

  • "Wow, delicious food and wine! And the service...our server seemed more like a sommelier with all if the details she was giving us. Such a special dinner..."

  • "My girlfriend and I went here for our anniversary. We had the tasting flight, which includes 7 courses chosen by the chef. The server does ask about any dietary restrictions to ensure that the items that our chosen meet your needs. My favorite was probably the rabbit. The seventh course is a dessert which was very good. About 80% of their ingredients including some of the meats, are grown and produced by the restaurant right here in Boulder, or right outside of Boulder. I would recommend this for a mid-level fine dining experience."

  • "When we arrived it took about 20 minutes to get a drink - and we had to ask for water. Getting a menu and the. The ordering process also seemed very cumbersome. The staff seemed disjointed that night."

  • "The Black Cat was one the best dining experiences I've had. From the cozy table with big pillows as back cusions, soft earthy colors & dim lighting, the impression is inviting. Our service was flawless. One of the party asked the server to recommend an entree based on her criteria - the entree was perfect. Another in our group is pregnant and asked for a mock-tale - a beautiful one was created and delivered promptly. The Black Cat may be the pinacle of the farm-to-table, local, sustainable and organic movement. Flavors were perfection, with everything on the plate working together but not over-powered by sauces or seasonings. Subtlety was key. I spend a great deal of time chatting up the Somm, who was fascinating."

  • "The Black Cat is perhaps one of the underrated gems on the overcrowded food scene. Let others jostle with the crowds at Brasserie 1010 or the Med, or wait 3 months for a reservation at Frasca. Frankly, the food is every bit as good at the Black Cat, the ambiance is delightful, and the service superb. ppy Birthday!" were certainly appreciated. If you have someone special and you want to take them out for a evening where you can actually *talk* to each other, this is the place to go. Took my girlfriend their dinner on her birthday and they went out of their way to make her, and us, feel welcomed, without going overboard."

  • "I have no problem at all spending the money on the excellent food, dynamic menu and overall great experience. However, the wine portions are extremely chincy and priced very high. Perhaps I wouldnt mind paying the ~$20 per glass if they poured a respectable portion....because of this, I will be checking out some other local restruants...."

  • "I thought the food at Black Cat was good. However, let's keep in mind that this restaurant is in Boulder, CO not NYC. If you want to charge NYC prices for good food, then move to NYC. Then you'll have to up the food from good to great. Dinner for two was $215 before tip. If the food was great, I wouldn't complain. The food was just ok, I would have paid $100 for it."

  • "Food= Hands down Amazing Food Presentation= I thought the presentation was gorgeous. Amdience = I can't give this a 5 star for this reason, The average bill is around $150.00 for two and I feel at this price point privacy should be looked at. The tables are entirely to close together, it's hard to enjoy yourself when you can hear the conversation of the people next to you. The restaurant is extremely loud and hard to carry on a conversation with your other party"

  • "Had a wonderful dining experience at the Black Cat on Valentines Day - dinner was price fix and everything we ordered was delicious. Looking forward to a return visit to enjoy their savory farm to table delicacies."

  • "We had a nice evening at the Black Cat. They had a fixed menu and we really enjoyed each of the courses.Nice ambiance, nice service. The tables are pretty close together so you'll probably end up hearing some conversation. We ended up having a nice conversation with the couple next to us so that was a plus for us, but if you're looking for a private dinner, you'll want to be a bit aware of what table you get seated at. The only small negative for us was that the wine list is fairly limited and pretty pricey. I would have liked to have seen more wine available by the glass and in general, a bigger wine list. Overall, though, it was a great dining experience."

  • "I had a great time on valentines day! The prefixed menu was really good and it was a really nice atmosphere. Will definitely go back!"

  • "Took my wife for Valentines because we had never been. We were running late for our reservation and they were very accommodating to seat us a little late. It was a set 4 course dinner which was wonderfully prepared, but for the price absolutely not worth it. This was the most expensive meal I've ever had, and while the quality was remarkable we left unsatisfied. I assume their typical dinner would be half what we paid, which in that case would be reasonable. I might consider it again because I respect the the farm to table model, the design is interesting, location convenient, and good food."

  • "Not sure why it took so long to get here but this was the best dining experience we've had in Boulder in the 4 years we've been here. The 8 course chefs menu with wine pairings is the way to go. If you've worked in restaurants then the kitchen/ chefs table is a fun place to sit. The service food and lack of pretense blows the Flagstaff house out of the water. The price is about the same."

  • "This was our first trip to Black Cat. We absolutely fell in love with this find! We were seated in the quiet private room in the back. It was very comfy and romantic! We chose the chefs tasting menu with wine paring for an adventure, and that it was. The courses presented on small plates were beyond our expectations. From the root vegetable soup served in espresso cups to the goat cheese gnocchi everything was beautifully presented and described. One of our favorite was the Sheep's Milk cheese - amazingly creamy! The staff did a thorough and entertaining job of describing each pairing, all of which were from outside the country. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will be returning again and again!"

  • "My husband and I went for my birthday, and from beginning to end, our experience at Black Cat was wonderful. We decided on the chef's tasting menu and loved every dish, particularly the pork belly. I recommend the tasting menu; it was a way for us to experience foods that we'd perhaps not otherwise choose, and we were thrilled with how delicious everything was. I can't say enough how fantastic our food was. A special, memorable evening. The staff we dealt with were all lovely and accommodating."

  • "I had never been to Black Cat before, but decided to suggest it to two colleagues who were visiting Boulder. I'm glad we went so they could have a taste of Boulder. While I consider myself an adventurous eater, the other two had some reservations about lamb and foie gras. Needless to say, they did not order the tasting menu. Both the foie and the lamb sausage were my absolute favorite dishes of the night—the only taste that wasn't quite to my liking was the sturgeon...but I still ate every bite that was brought to me. The service was phenomenal. Not only did Megan, our waitress, bring my colleagues some amuse courses so they wouldn't feel too jealous about not ordering the tasting menu, the wine suggested (a 2000 Sémillon) was spot on."

  • "The sturgeon, beef entree, and goat cheese gnocchi were absolutely amazing! Fantastic service, much better than any comparably priced farm to table restaurants I've frequented. And the bartenders are very creative! If you give them an idea as to what kind of liquor you like, you won't be disappointed in what they create for you."

  • "I made reservations for four; my husband and I gathering with old friends/business colleagues we hadn't seen in ages. I was hoping for the best as we are all true foodies and wine enthusiasts. Also, our friend is a bit hard of hearing, so I was hoping the ambience was quiet and cozy. Everything was perfect. The service outstanding, the wine list wonderful, the food exquisite and the ambience simply lovely. We especially all enjoyed sharing the dessert tasting. So beautiful and creative - it was quickly devoured! We would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. Thank you for a lovely evening!"

  • "So grateful to have a fabulous organic dining restaurant like this! Tasting menu with the premium wine pairings was divine! Sommelier's knowledge was incredible. A very special thank-you to the pasty chef that created a rich, chocolate dessert on the spot to satisfy my craving!"

  • "We love The Black Cat. It's a great restaurant, with a farm-to-table menu and fresh ingredients that we appreciate. The cuisine is innovative, but not pretentious. On this visit, the food was very good, but the service wasn't. We arrived early, so they weren't slammed. We had to ask for bread — once after our amuse-bouche (AB) was served, and once during the meal. Were they rationing? Our bottle of wine, ordered first thing, didn't arrive until after the AB and appetizer. Several times, our wine and water glasses sat empty. I hope this was just an off night for The Black Cat, but the series of inattentive mishaps surprised the two of us to the point of wondering if that nearly $200 ticket was something we'd do again."

  • "Wonderful romantic evening. The sampler dinner was delicious. I'm a small lady and don't eat much and I even found the plates to be a bit to small. Besides that, everything was across the board perfect."

  • "Three of our group were foodies and we thought the 6course tasting menu was delectable6 course tasting. We loved the unusual preparations. They easily and happily accommodated our food requirements--gluten free or nut allergies--so for some courses we had different items, yet we all loved them. One had only an entree and dessert only and was pleased. The cocktails were unique, they even created one (not on the menu) based on particular taste preferences. This was a special occasion, and the birthday person is a personal chef, so we went with high expectations, and they were definitely met. Service was quite attentive but not pretentious. Ambience is warm, we relaxed into the leather love seat. Yes, it is pricey, but worth every bite!"

We enjoyed sitting by the kitchen and watching the chefs create each dish that was prepared for us and the other patrons. We really enjoyed our evening out at the Black Cat and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoy outstanding food."
