Diner Reviews
  • "With its position on the Delaware River, the ambience is amazing. The service is also excellent. They accommodated my many food sensitivities with grace and imagination. I usually just take out what I can't eat. The kitchen mad substation suggestions and it was great. It was a great anniversary dinner."

  • "Sundays champagne brunch is always great along with the service. Sitting outside with views if the river is gorgeous. They have umbrellas at every table so you're not uncomfortable sitting in the sun. They are pretty good about refilling our champagne it's part of the Sunday brunch. Will return next weekend."

  • "Our reservation must have been lost because it took almost an hour to get our table. We spent the time at the bar which was enjoyable but it seemed lots of other diners got their table long before we did. However the wait was worth it and our dinners were wonderful! Lovely evening."

  • "The signature dish, Charleston meeting street crabmeat has remained on the menu through thick and this at this historic venue. It gets smaller and smaller and the cognac ratio has diminished. Our server was a lovely woman. The management....not so much. Lunch for two with cocktails and tip was $170. Yet were were bum rushed out because a large group was coming in. (Not even a complimentary dessert or drink at the bar was offered). The view is bliss; it's extremely overpriced for the quality and quantity of the food. I can almost accept that, but not the bum's rush."

  • "We arrived early so we went to the bar for a drink. Vicki, the bartender, was sweet and sociable. At dinner we were seated right along the large windows overlooking the Delaware. It was beautiful. We had empanadas and the firecracker shrimp for appetizers. They were both good, but the sauce that comes with the empanadas was RIDICULOUS. I do not know what was in it, it tasted of a guacamole/cilantro combination, and we slathered it on the empanadas. Yum. For dinner, we ordered the scallops (which were HUGE and delicious), and the Charleston Meeting Street Crab. O - M - G. We were giggling as we were eating it because it was just.so.good. Oh and a side of crispy grits! AMAZING! Best birthday dinner ever. Definitely will be back. Soon!"

  • "We chose Black Bass for our wedding luncheon. The service was superior: our waitress, Zoe, was attentive, informed, responsive to all of our questions, and most supportive of the joyousness of our occasion. Zoe definitely added to the pleasure of our Black Bass experience. Also figuring in our choice was the need for a gluten free menu. The cake you provided was superb; the range of choices for gluten free was excellent. Our only concern was that French fries offered on gluten free were not (Zoe checked for us) Gluten free. The Black Bass setting and ambiance are, of course, extraordinary. A wonderful experience!"

  • "I took my wife to celebrate our 34th anniversary and we were not disappointed. While at a window table overlooking the Delaware River we thoroughly relished the chateaubriand for two. OK the rolls were a little dry and the beer list limited but all was forgiven when we dug into the perfectly cooked beef covered with abundant chunks of crab in Bernaise sauce."

  • "Dinner tasted wonderful: Crabcakes, excellent squid appetisers, Tuna and Barramundi main course. But we both spent the entire night getting up repeatedly to drink water to hydrate after consuming much too much salt. The view of the river is unbeatable"

  • "We went for the view but will go back for the delicious food. A well rounded, interesting menu and an accommodating talented kitchen surprised my father and I who are touring the Delaware River Restaurants. The fish was perfect. The salad was fresh and interesting without being trendy. The cold soup was refreshing and onion soup sublime. The desserts were irresistible. While we spent a pretty penny we could have managed a delightful lunch or dinner at a reasonable expense by having less. However, we would have missed the best meal we have found along the Delaware."

  • "The chilled cucumber soup with Cajun spices was a great way to start off a meal. I've been here many times before, but this was the first time that I had the Charlestown Meeting House crab. I'm so glad that I did; it was an excellent choice!"

  • "Today we went to the Tavern to try that menu and also the locals menu which is a three course menu for $32.50. From the Tavern menu I had the Rum/Molasas painted salmon with sweet potato fries. From the Locals menu we had the Butter Lettuce and avacato salad. Then we had the 10oz NY Strip Steak and finally the awesome carrot cake. Those three items were just $32.50 What a bargin. Vickie was our server and couldn't have been more helpful and a delight for us to have her take care of us."

  • "Several great specials that night. Ceasar salad was substantial and not overpowered with dressing. View of the Delaware River was very refreshing and made for a wonderful casual evening. The upside down crab and lobster chunks with mango appetizer was delightful and filling and hit the spot on a warm summer evening. There is outside seating on the terrace but was not aware until after seated."

  • "We had a lovely brunch on the Delaware. I had very good shrimp and grits which I would rarely have outside of the south. My partners had steak and eggs which were cooked to their specifications. The meal included appetizer, granola and yogurt, and dessert. I highly recommend."

  • "I can't begin to say how pleased I was with the Black Bass! I took the family here to celebrate my husbands bday and we loved the food, service, and had an amazing view of the Delaware. Not only did all the staff wish my hubby a Happy Bday but they gave him a card and a box of chocolates. If you are looking for a special place to go the Black Bass is perfect! The 3 course meal is so wonderful! I had steak and eggs and the scones are freshly baked! I give this experience an A+! Thank you so much."

  • "Long story but I was given a dinner for two by my boss as an apology. It was sweet revenge, from the spinach salad to the pastrami spring rolls to the lamb in mint jalapeño sauce to the homemade cinnamon chocolate chip ice cream. Top it off with a romantic walk across the Delaware River on the pedestrian bridge."

  • "First time to Lumberville, PA and was not disappointed. Quite a view with the Delaware River running beside the restaurant. The indoor, historical decorations are a must see, and will leave you walking the restaurant, asking to step around people's tables to find the next treasure. The drinks were professionally made, very authentic. Paired with the fabulous food choices, it's a spot I would recommend, and if I'm back in PA in the near future, would dine at again."

  • "My wife and I celebrated her birthday on the outdoor dining patio of the hotel. The food was excellent and the staff very capable. The view of the Delaware was relaxing and scenic. We plan to return for a cozy and romantic stay in the hotel for my birthday this winter."

  • "The Black Bass is one for the prettiest and most romanric restaurants in Bucks County. The food has really improved and the soft shell crabs that I had were excellent. My husband really liked the duck and the wine list was also very good. We will go back again soon"

  • "Chateaubriand for two (69.00) was very chewy and fatty. Both my husband and I could not finish it. Brought it home, and can bring in the remainder to show you how fatty and grisly it was. As an amends they gave us one dessert to share. We were extremely disappointed, as it was a very special occasion, and we paid full price for the whole dinner. Certainly not worth the money, and poor response from manager. Very sad and sorry, and will not be able to recommend your restaurant to anyone."

  • "My recent Sunday brunch at Black Bass seemed not on a par with prior visits. On the plus side, our server was very attentive and the view and ambience terrific as always. Our server and the kitchen also accommodated my diet with a cheese a plate rather than the high carb first course options. All very impressive. My first negative reaction came when the leg and full pastry server arrived. My friend can eat pastries and her option was either one little lemon poppy seed muffin or a scone. Not even one of each. And this is a $35 pp brunch! Next was the fruit cup w yogurt and granola. I expected fresh berries but it seemed to be canned fruit. Did I mention $35 pp?? The main course omlet was ok but not great. Is the business in trouble?"

  • "We have been coming to this place for our anniversary dinner every year (minus a few where we were out of town). I would like to say that it gets better every year but not true. This year we were placed near another couple who were very loud and obviously had tipped a few before coming to the restaurant. We asked to be moved and it was complied with. The service person kept pushing us. We wanted to take our time and enjoy our one night out at a leisurely pace. The wine list could have included a couple other common varieties. The food was good, not excellent compared to previous years. Next year we may change locations for our anniversary dinner, or maybe not."

  • "It was a lovely day so we drove an hour to get the the Black Bass in order to sit on their deck - only to find all tables were reserved. So we sat by the window looking down on empty tables on the deck the entire time we were there. The lunch menu is limited but the food was good. When the bill came we'd been charged $12 for an apple tart so small it barely registered on the plate - instead of the 9$ menu price. Then it took them longer to fix the bill than it had to serve lunch. So, its a lovely spot with good food but the service needs to be taken up a notch or two."

  • "I think the Black Bass needs to decide what it is or wants to be. It opened as a fine dining place and is now a hang-out for bikers wearing biking clothing showing off their junk. If I want to eat like that I go to Dilly's and I most assuredly should have gone there on Monday. For $30.00 all of us would have had a better lunch than the $108.00 I spent. To be fair about three weeks earlier I had dinner there and it was good. The wait staff is excellent to good and the place is beautiful. I think Management wants heads at any cost and is creating lunch to match the client. The only way I will return is if I am invited."

  • "This is a lovely old riverside eatery. We met very critical friends for dinner there, and they were charmed by the place. The food is just about flawless--fresh and flavorful salads, calimari to die for and my seared scallops and pork belly entree was impeccably prepared and absolutely delightful. Our waitress was skilled, but she was overburdened. It was a crowded night. As a result, we had some overly long waits for drinks and again between courses. Otherwise, no complaints whatsoever."

  • "We chose this restaurant because of the location, and its great reputation. The dinner was very good, my entrée, the lobster item on the menu, was a bit too rich and heavy for my liking. The service was fair at best. Our server took a long time to get to our table, and was not the most professional especially for a high class/pricey restaurant. "

  • "The food was incredible. My girlfriend who usually eats half of her food and saves rest for another meal, cleaned her plate and also had bites of my meal. We plan on returning soon to the area just to dine here again. "

  • "We took Mom out for Mother's Day and enjoyed the entire experience. The roasted rhubarb salad was delicious. The special, king salmon with Thai coconut curry and crabmeat, was absolutely fabulous. It was truly one of the best salmon dishes I've ever had. The view is beautiful. While we sat indoors, we had a wonderful window seat with a view of the river below and the bridge. We noticed there were tables outside below as well. Mom got the sea bass with edamame which she thoroughly enjoyed, and Dad enjoyed the Atlantic salmon which was on the menu. This is an ideal place for a special occasion. Love the old inn feel; quaint and welcoming, yet with modern amenities. I would return in a heartbeat!"

  • "We returned here after about 20 years and still found the Black Bass to be a charming place to eat. The food was very good, the service was also very good. I had the scallops and fried pork belly entree and it was excellent. The mushroom soup was great as was the Artichoke salad. It was a great night on the river even though we chose to eat indoors."

  • "I was looking forward to dining here but was very disappointed with the food. My appetizer was mushroom soup and it was very good but both our dinners were mediocre at best. Would not be visiting here again as it was very expensive and not worth the money."
