Diner Reviews
  • "I recently dined with a co-worker at Black Angus on a Friday evening - we had 5:30 pm reservations. We were quickly seated at our table. The service, however, was very slow, from ordering cocktails to dessert. Our server came to our table after a minimum 20 minutes wait to ask our orders for drinks, then again for the appetizer and entree, then again for dessert. It also took another 20 minutes each time to receive said drinks, and appetizer/entree, and dessert, which we decided to box ourselves and leave. She never explained the long delay nor apologize for keeping us waiting. She passed our table once and at that time we asked for boxes to go since we calculated the dessert would come before closing."

  • "Can't beat the food and service! Filet mignon is always delicious and cooked to perfection. Nice service. It's one of the few quiet restaurants in the area. The only drawback is that sometimes they bring the courses out too close to one another. This time our appetizer and salads were brought out at the same time. I need to remember to request that they be spaced a little better. Great value too."

  • "Disappointed w/my recent experience at Black Angus in Torrance. Firstly our server was not friendly at all, which is very surprising in Los Angles where service is generally excellent. Sometimes that is due to the individual server having a bad day. And other times bad management/working environment. Secondly my rib eye steak was really the worst I've ever had in America (I live in Asia and enjoy great American steak when I'm back home visiting). My rib eye was tasteless, like it had been cooked in water. Sometimes storied brands through lack of care from company owners/executives just simply decay.. Not sure what is going on with Black Angus.."

  • "Food was good but service was poor at best. The place is looking a little long in the tooth and needs to be UPGRADED and REDONE"

  • "Our group thoroughly enjoyed the excellent service & great menu variety. The food was excellent & we all enjoyed the evening. The dessert was delicious!! We always enjoy the fine dining at Black Angus."

  • "The good was very good, but I ordered medium well steak. I received medium, almost too bloody of a steak. I wonder if next time I should order well done? I ate it because I didn't want to cause a fuss or ruin the mood of my husband's birthday."

  • "My family used to eat here often when our kids were younger. This was our preferred family restaurant. I had not been here is over 10 years. The food is still very good."

  • "This meal was fantastic. We told our waitress we were not in a hurry and asked that she not bring each plate until we were finished with the previous one. This worked out great. I love their bleu cheese dressing - on the wedge salad. Our steaks were perfectly done. Grilled asparagus and sauteed mushrooms were very good. The high-sided booths make conversation easy. The butter cake with vanilla bean ice cream and raspberry sauce is huge. More than enough for the two of us. We will definitely be going again."

  • "I noticed an odd similarity to the Buena Park location. Once again our waitress friendly and competent. Then as the restaurant got busier, around 7:30-8:30, she seemed overwhelmed and suddenly we could not locate her? Could this be a lack of experience or staffing issue??? The food was very good although portions seemed smaller than recent memory. Especially disappointing was the Chocolate Chip Cowboy Cookie dessert! The last time we had it was at Buena Park and it came on a large, white, ceramic plate and was definately shareable. This time it came on a miniature pie tin with a tiny scoop of ice cream? We were left wanting more... : ("

  • "The food was and service were just great. We usually eat lunch there so we took a little extra time with the dinner menu before ordering. We never felt rushed to order or to finish our meal and we were there on a Friday night."

  • "Every time we come here we have great service. The food is not cold, it's just right. Salads are cold and cooked food are cooked just right."

  • "The food here is always great, and so is the service. There are always great deals and coupons available, too. It's a great place to go for a steak dinner followed by a tasty dessert."

  • "I give the service only 3 stars as the waitress was pretty good but our entrees were brought to the table after we had just started our salads. Our steaks were cooked correctly this time - only because I ordered rare instead of medium rare which is how I prefer it cooked. It came medium rare - perfect. The grilled artichoke and the sauces are fantastic. The "cowboy cookie" and ice cream is always great. We really enjoy the tall individual booths as we feel our conversations are private and we aren't having to speak louder to override conversations from other tables or booths. We will continue to eat here as long as we have a coupon for the Camfire Feast Dinner for Two. Without the coupon - would be pricey."

  • "With a coupon easily located online (google: Black Angus Coupon) you can get a shared appetizer, a shared dessert and two entrees each with two sides for $40. I enjoy their prime rib, as well as the New York strip."

  • "Our family goes to Black Angus on special occasions, usually when they have good coupons available so that we're saving some money. (Without coupons, I consider it to be a tad overpriced.) The steaks are usually good, and cooked to your specification, but sometimes they do get it a bit off. I would err on the side of ordering your steak a little ordering it "down" in terms of rareness. As is, if you wanted medium well, ask for medium. That way, with the residual heat on the hot plate it will come to medium well. My husband's steak was seasoned; mine was not. I would have preferred a bit more flavor. The rest of the meal was good-- shrimp was nicely grilled, potatoes were good. Oh, the only negative is that their soups are SALTY."

  • "I have been to the Black Angus steakhouse throughout the Los Angeles area and San Jose CA areas for many years. Every location provides a terrific dining experience. Throughout their menu, the Prime Rib and outstanding Steaks as well as their Crispy Shrimp, Salmon and Chicken dishes, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. From the time you get in the door, you are treated as a welcomed guest. The ambiance is elegant but people come into these restaurants from celebrating an Anniversary, Birthday, to just wanted to have a great meal. I have seen people people dressed up, down to jeans and t-shirts.Families and kids are surely welcome as well. To top it off, there is a bar area with flat screens to watch games and eat some appetizers."

  • "The campfire feast coupon for two dinners is a great deal. NY steak was right there with top steak joints. No complaints whatsoever."

  • "Great restaurant for a dinner out. Can be casual or neat casual. Have celebrated occasions here. A lot of private booths so not sitting on top of people eating next to you. Coupons in throwaways make the meals more affordable. Campfire for two is great option."

  • "It has been awhile, but there is a reason Black Angus is still around! Top notch all the way, the steaks were cooked excellently for the entire family and the portions are really big! Lots of food to take home, easily to walk away full since there is too much food."

  • "I made reservations for 6:30 pm on Father's day. It was me and my folks. We weren't seated till about 7:15, but it was understandable; the place was PACKED. Once we were seated in our comfortable booth, we were warmly greeted by our waitress for the evening, Maritza I believe was her name; she was excellent. We all shared the sampler platter and ordered our own steak dinners. No complaints in that departments, our meals were delicious. Unfortunately, we had no room for dessert, but we had an awesome dining experience nonetheless. We'd definitely come back. It was a little pricier than I had anticipated, but you definitely get your money's worth. I'd give a 9/10."

  • "Food was good. Service for great. However although we reserved our table or 6:15 and arrived on time, we did not get seated for another 20 minutes."

  • "You definately need a reservation for father's day (which we had) or the wait is like an hour long. It is usually quite there but because of all the people there for the holiday it was a bit loud but definately tolerable. You could still hear each other across the table without raising your voice. Of all the restaurants we could have gone to, it was the best choice for us."

  • "Food was fresh and good. Made reservations and had only a short wait. Impressed with the service on a major holiday. Will return soon."

  • "What a throw back to my disco days. Nothing's changed in the decor and I love that! (Except there's no more dance floor....Boo...) Took hubby here for Father's Day with a coupon for the Campfire Feast. Ssoooo good. We paid extra and ordered a lobster tail to split - it was tasty, but a little over-cooked. Squaw bread is classic. My filet mignon was juicy and delish and my hubby was able to get an end-cut of the prime rib. His favorite. The monster dessert brownie thing was over the top huge and good. All in all very happy: 4 cocktails, dinner for 2 + lobster tail and appetizer = $84!! It may not be the fanciest place but you can't beat the value for a nice meal, especially if you're on a budget. Wish there was one in West L.A.!"

  • "A little over 2:45 min for Dinner At 2:30...Hate to know how long the guest who were waiting when we left had to wait for their dinner!. Had to ask for everything, soda and water refills, toppings for potatoes all wrong and 3 of the 5 steaks were over cooked! The child's dinner came with ice cream that was never served. Waitresses disappeared for 20 to 25 minutes at a time. If that was MY first experience at Black Angus I would NEVER go back...I have had better service and might return but not sure."

  • "We go here regularly for lunch after movie across the way, and it's always a good experience. Food is tasty, server stays in touch with the table but not annoyingly so. This time it was Father's Day and we shared the Prime Rib and Lobster special for $35. Portions were not huge but it was enough for us, as we usually share a couple appetizers. We often come here on Thanksgiving as they offer an excellent meal for a great price that day."

  • "Black Angus fits the bill for a good steakhouse, with affordable prices. Definitely not a high end experience, but if you're looking for a good family-friendly steakhouse that's easy on the wallet, and tasty food, go here. Service is usually better, but this time a little lacking. Friendly, just not around when we needed her."
