  • "The first clue should have been the place was empty at prime weekend dining hours. The food, from the appetizer to the desert, tasted just plain old like it had been sitting in the kitchen refrigerators for weeks. For example, the shrimp cocktail had been frozen so long the texture of the shrimp was mealy, the salmon tasted almost like it was canned. The portions were tiny at any price and make no mistake, the prices are high for a franchise eatery in the Tacoma area. The one decent thing about the place was it was so empty so we had no problems carrying on a normal conversation at our table. The consensus of our group was that we can honestly say we wouldn't go back if they offered us a free meal. Disappointing experience to say the least."

  • "I booked 5 people for dinner to celebrate my brother's birthday. We were courteously and timely seated at our table. We ordered two combo hor de vours trays. One had sour cream and green onions on the potatoes, the other didn't. Three of us ordered the prime rib. The meat was too thin and it was tough. One person in our group ordered the prime rib with a potato. There was just the slab of meat on a big plate with nothing else. It was a very poor presentation of the food. Two of us planned to order a glass of wine but the server didn't come back to take care of that. The dessert was fabulous, chocolate cake and bread pudding. I was very pleased with my salmon dinner. My husband was very pleased with his spare rib dinner."

  • "We started with a sampler platter. The buffalo chicken was FANTASTIC, but the loaded potato skins was hard and burnt. The steaks were great, as expected. You have to try their white chocolate bread pudding with caramel sauce. Attentive servers, good atmosphere."

  • "We used to eat here very month. The Ribeye was over half fat. Not fatty, like flavorful, but cut off a slab of fat and not seasoned. Oddly enough, there were no cook marks on the steak. None. Not cooked? Microwaved perhaps? Terrible. The only good thing was the server and he kept saying how sorry he was for the food. We waited over and hour and 15 minutes for our meal to arrive."

  • "Typical of most chain steakhouses, this particular Black Angus does nothing exceptionally well, nor does it do anything particularly poorly. The steaks are simple, cooked to order, and generally of good quality. They aren't excessively peppered, the way The Outback has a tendency to do. Steaks come with two sides, and the option to accessorize as you see fit. The bread that comes free is delicious, a sweet molasses bread, served with butter. As for pricing, most orders are in the $20-$30 range, and will feed an adult. If you wish, you can add appetizers, which run from about $8-$15. Wine, beer, and mixed drinks are available as well, and they have a fairly decent dessert menu. Expect to spend $75-$100 for two adults, including tip."

  • "Who doesn't like steak and potatoes. Our fillets are always cooked perfect . The one thing I would say is that they weren't the same size. My husband's steak was fine, burn it mine was very noticeably smaller and mine had a huge piece of fat down the middle which separated the meat on both sides. When I order a fillet don't expect to find any fat running through it. The one thing I would say great is the people that work at the Lakewood Washington Black Angus, they know what customer service is. The manager also comes around to see if every thing is alright."

  • "Even though I went on Valentine's Day and 9 pm, I thought that it would have given us a better experience. However, when we arrive for our reservations they were still busy and said it would be 20-25 minutes still. So we decided to head to the bar given that there were open tables and you would think better and faster service. That wasn’t the case. We waited for 22 minutes for our server; we had to ask multiple times for things (such as drinks, refills, the bread, silverware to eat, etc.). Overall, our server wasn’t the quickest and definitely wasn’t attentive or try to upsell (which is huge in the restaurant business and for her tip). I wouldn't recommend this place to friends and definately won't be going there again."

  • "Our son was home on leave from the military so it was a special dinner with the whole family. The food was good and there was alot of it. We had the 2 for 39.99 special coupon and there is a lot of food. You get your choice of appetizer and we got the wagon wheel sampler, then onto the meal which the steak was great. We finished with sharing a dessert that was fabulous. We always come here for special occasions and know we will get a good meal. The waitress was efficient and very friendly as well."

  • "We were escorted to a pleasant, comfortable table for 6 and were able to visit in a quiet atmosphere. The service was excellent and the food almost as good. We ENJOYED the crab legs, salmon and salad & potatoes but the sirloin steak was a little tough. The presentation was good. At the end of our meal two birthday cookies were presented with great singing, making for a memorable evening. It was worth the 25 min. drive, The online reservation was easy to make and it was nice to be expected."

  • "I always forget that Black Angus actually knows how to cook steak and so forget that I don't have to order a medium rare steak if what I really want is just medium. So many restaurants overcook the steaks when you tell them medium to where there is no pink at all. Thankfully the wait staff and kitchen are understanding and able to amend my lapse in memory. The portions are adequate and my husband and I love celebrating our special occasions with Black Angus."

  • "Our dinners were delicious and the coupon one person in our party brought with them (good for 6) made it possible for all of us to have steak, shrimp and lobster for under $20 per person. Our dinner came out hot with perfectly cooked steaks, (rare was rare!) the shrimp had a nice crispy crunch and even the lobster tail was sweet and not overdone. Great job and friendly service. We had a good experience. The woman who seated us brought two extra chairs over because there was no place for 6 big winter coats in the booth. I liked the online reservation system as well. I got an immediate confirmation as well as a reminder the day before. :)"

  • "Can't be perfect every time. Based on good reviews on OpenTable, I made reservations for dinner while working in Tacoma. The place has an old steakhouse feel, like it's been quite a while since a decorator has had any impact on the place. We sat at the bar since the place was nearly empty, so we could watch the game. Food was definitely moderately okay. I ordered a ribeye, expecting a thick, juicy steak. What I got was a thin, piece of meat with a bit more gristle, okay, a lot more gristle, than I expected. Bartender was good, though, kept our glasses full. Probably won't repeat."

  • "While the food was good as was the service I was highly disappointed in the size of the servings. When I pay $40 for green beans, filet mignon and grilled prawns, I expect to get more than 10 individual green beans and more the 4 small grilled prawns. 10 green beans is not even a full serving of veggies and could easily be made a bigger portion size while still keeping costs in line. The prawns can move to 5 or 6 jumbo prawns and you costs would not rise much any with the prices that are being charged."

  • "We arrived eight minutes before our reservation (after a terrible traffic slowdown on I-5 between Nisqually and Birkeley off ramp near Lakewood) and were seated immediately. Molasses bread was nice and fresh and soft, potato soup delicious, and entire meal served nice and warm and flavorful. Could not consume all that was served so took pie and part of dinner in to go boxes with absolutely no hesitation on part of staff."

  • "I was at Black Angus on Thanksgiving. It was very busy, but overall pretty good. The service was reasonably fast, Our server did make a few mistakes just from being overly busy I think. We had to ask a few times for drinks and then got the wrong drink along with some ranch salad dressing that we hadn't asked for. We did receive a free appetizer, due to the first one being burnt, Also a free kids mac and cheese since it was late. Overly it was not a bad experience. The food was very good."

  • "We have been here twice so far, once as a couple and once with a group of 10. The service was very good, and with advance notice they were able to provide our group night with service that was as good as when we were just a walk-in couple. The steaks are acceptable for the price range. The booths are comfortable, and the backs are high so you can have a conversation without being overwhelmed with noise from other tables. It's family-friendly if you have kids. Overall a good experience for the price range."

  • "There was a mess up with a birthday dinner but staff was willing to figure something out and invite us back for a redo. They serve a lot of food for the price. We both has chicken he a Burger and me Sliders. Taste was good but dry as it was about 3 min. overcooked. I don't know if they were going for grill marks (perfect), eye appeal (perfect) or temperature but for me when it doesn't resemble raw and jiggly uncooked chix it's done and the difference between plump and moist or jerkey texture. Will go back for upcoming steak birthday dinner (hope its tender) because we loved the staff and management, great friendly people."
