Diner Reviews
  • "Wife's filet was good. Burger was not the greatest. Steer clear of it unless they convert to a hand made patty."

  • "This is one of our favorite places as we can sit in a booth which is high & with some of our party hard of hearing it makes it so we can all communicate. The food is always very good & ample portions."

  • "Did the reservation over the internet and made a 6pm time. Within 5-10 minutes we were seated. Everything just flowed properly from there on till leaving. Everything was just perfect and we had the dinner for two which was GREAT!"

  • "We love the food and especially the fact that it is not noisy like most of the restaurants we go to. If it weren't so far from us we would probably be there much more often"

  • "The wait was very short after our party arrived. The wait staff did a great job taking our order and bringing out the food. The food was very good overall and the prices were very moderate. Overall we were happy and we had a great time; I would recommend this location."

  • "The food and service here were very good. I would definitely come back for the boneless NY steak with baked potato."

  • "After patronizing the restaurant for almost 40 years, we are becoming tired of the same menu. Would like to see a little more variety in the menu. Also, I've noted that the restroom is not as sanitary as it used to be. The walls need a better washing down and the toilets need to be checked more often. Also, the front desk people are not as congenial as they once were. Management needs to make a more thorough assessment of customer satisfaction."

  • "As long as I have been going to Black Angus I have never been dissatisfied! It's definitely my favorite place to celebrate any occasion. It's quiet and comfortable and the servers always make you feel that you are VIPs. There's something on the menu for everyone's tastes. The prime rib is to die for! The desserts are delectable...especially the gluten free cake. People with Celiac can feel comfortable knowing they can eat safely here. Keep it coming, Black Angus and I'll be back...again and again and again!."

  • "We used to go here alot. But, haven't been in awhile. Food: OK Service: OK Prices: Higher then warrented. I had to ask for our bread ( which their ads say is included, but hadn't come by the time our entress were served.) Never refilled our drinks... I guess since we ordered iced tea instead of alcohol. Went because I am on their Email list , so we got a 30% off deal.. entire bill. That's what it says. Off course, not alcohol, tip.. I get that. BUT, they took 30% off the meals, not ENTIRE meal... remember, we ordered non-alcoholic drinks. ICED TEA. Will not go again, and have unsubscribed from their Email."

  • "We like the feeling of privacy between booths, but on this occasion we were seated across from a very noisy child, thus the designation of moderate noise level. Food was good as usual, as was service."

  • "This Black Angus is one of the few left in San Diego. My prime rib was delicious but I thought it could have been cut thicker. It's prime rib not a slice of baloney. But everything else was great!"

  • "The food and service are always great here. We come back as often as we can for the great steaks!"

  • "We eat there often, this time we found that the prices had gone up."

  • "My steak was tender but no seasoning. My garlic mashed potatoes were too heavy, not creamy at all. I brought 2 families for this special day. I expected better tasting food. I would give you another try but probably not on a special day."

  • "Went with my wife for special occasion. Ordered appetizer, it didn't get to the table until we were halfway done with our meal. Wife ordered salmon, it was good. I ordered the half rack of lamb (25.99), it was nothing like what was pictured, waiter apologized and offered to bring out another half rack, but never did. It tasted freezer burnt, the pieces were literally bite size. Won't dine there again."

  • "appetizer (artichoke) was not cooked done (Leaves were hard) steaks overcooked. didn't have time to wait for re-cooked steaks....But my dog like them when we finally got home"

  • "A friendly greeting upon arrival by staff. Arrived a litle early for our reservation, but was taken to our table quickly. Good service during meal. When leaving staff was also very polite and friendly. We have always had a good experience at the Black Angus.."

  • "We went for lunch at their sports bar because we wanted to watch the Belmont Stakes Race on TV. It turned out to be very comfortable, spacious, and the service was excellent."

  • "Everything about the experience was perfect. The wine was spectacular, Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. The salad arrived cold including the plate and utensils, and it was great. The food arrived just as we were taking our last bites of salad and was piping hot. Steak melted in your mouth, ribs tender and juicy and the prawns were fantastic. We concluded our evening with a large chocolate chip cookie fresh from the oven with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top, (our waitress' pick for us), that was too good to describe."

  • "Got to the front of the line because at 19:09 we could make a 19:30 reservation. The service was excelent and the food was prepared really well. My Medium Rare NY Steak was perfect. For a chain resturant I find Black. Angus provides auality eats in an atmosphere that is semi private and generally quiet."

  • "Black Angus is a fine restaurant. The service is great and the atmosphere is nice. The food however is nothing I would be ecstatic about. When I went the chef couldn't tell the difference between well done and medium rare. When you send steaks back they take forever to come back out. For the prices the restaurant charges you would think the steaks would be perfect. I would only recommend this place to someone for a special occasion because the food will be really expensive and you can't be guaranteed that it will be good the first time it comes out."

  • "We went to Black Angus for dinner before we met our students at the their prom. The service was great, as well as the food. The meat was cooked to perfection and the vegtables were tender. Overall Black Angus was a wonderful experience. We plan on going back again in the near future."

  • "We were delighted to be able to reserve a table for Mother's Day online. We had a great table, and waitress. we ordered too many appetizers and filled up and could hardly finish our dinner. we took a lot home. our prime rib was sort of tired and plates with filet and cheese potato was plain. you need parsley for décor. otherwise we had a great time. thanks again. • "Went for Mother's Day. My mom loves their steaks. Always cooked to perfection. I don't eat beef, the chicken is so yummy and juicy!"

  • "Made reservation at end of March for the Saturday before Mother's Day. We showed up a couple minutes before our 5p reservation - it took them 15 min to seat us. Drinks and appetizers showed up pretty quick - but main entrees took a bit to get to us. Overall, it was a good meal, but the service could've been quicker - restaurant only had 5 servers on a Saturday evening/night - day before Mother's Day and Prom Season?! That makes no sense..."

  • "My wife and I enjoy going to Black Angus regularly, and many time with our kids and grandkids. The food is great, as is the service. And the price is a gem. "

  • "This mid priced chain delivers reliable and affordable meals. We started with a classic wedge salad which arrived nicely dresses. We also both selected filet mignon with bernaise butter, asparagus and a loaded baked potato. The six ounce steaks were a perfect medium rare. Asparagus was nicely grilled, although a bit woody. Service was excellent, friendly and attentive. The place is however, not well lit ( too bright ) and can be pretty noisy. Believe me, we are also great fans of the classic high end steakhouses in town. However, for an affordable and tasty night out, do not overlook the Black Angus. "
