My husband and son especially enjoyed the rack of lamb Easter special, and I was happily surprised that they now have a main dish salad (gluten- and dairy-free!) on their menu....as well as a gluten free chocolate desert. The waitress was very friendly and quite helpful, and we all thoroughly enjoyed our time there together. "

  • "I went to Black Angus for my birthday with my mother, wife and daughter. Since we wanted to get our entrees relatively quickly, we requested the server to place our order within 5 min of being seated. Our urgency was not understood by the server as it took over an hour to get our entrees. We had to wait at least 30 min following the completion of our appetizer to receive our steak entrees, one of which was delivered cold. As we were with a young child, this was incredibly frustrating as it is difficult to entertain a hungry 2-year old in a restaurant for so long. This was a disappointing experience and made my birthday more frustrating than enjoyable. Due to this experience, I am unlikely to visit a Black Angus again for any occasion."

  • "Here for third or fourth time Dinning here in about three months. Very consistent in the service,food and the noise level. The way the seating is set up in the booths gives a very private feeling. The drinks are very good and i don't know the name of it but it has the blackberrys in it is superb! This restaurant is also very close to my home. It makes it nice to have a place this good within four miles of my home. And the Deserts WOW!!! They are all great!!! The parking lot is always full and that shows a lot of people like the Black Angus. I sure like the email reservation system and that is a winner. Now wonder it is so busy all the time! One suggestion, more disability parking."

  • "My girlfriend and i went to the Black Angus on Friar's Road last Saturday. Have not been here for a long time but it is still in great shape with great service. Will be coming back more often now that we broke the ice and still know it as a great Steakhouse. The reservation system is awesome also."

  • "We had dinner at your restaurant because we were celebrating my son's birthday. We heard the staff singing happy birthday to two other tables so I told our waitress about my son. No singing at all just brought out a cookie dessert My wife and I ordered the prime rib dinner for two, it was paper thin and had enough fat on them to equal about half of one of the prime ribs. We placed our order and watched this table across from us order after us yeat their meals came out 15 min before ours.Once the kitchen staff brought out our meals they did not have the training to ask if we needed A1 steak sauce or ketchup Throughout our entire meal I constantly had to ask the waitress for more bread even though she could clearly see we were a party of six."

Black Angus is the only place we'll go for a good steak or Salmon! The desserts are the best! Service was well-timed and friendly. We NEVER have a problem finding a parking space. :-)"

  • "I went on Valentines Day and seeing as to how this was my first visit, I don't think that I can get a good idea for the service in the place. The wait time on a day like such was about an hour or so and once we where seated there was a 45 minute hold on the kitchen for entrées. So we ended up drinking a few margaritas which where top notch. Once the food got there it was cooked the way that I asked. I ordered the salmon only issue with that was that it was not well seasoned. My date ordered the steak and there was no issues with that order as it was prepared to perfection. Overall I would say that this place is about 3 1/2 to 4 on a scale of 5."

  • "we had the artichoke hearts for a starter and it was sliced and grilled and ok. the squaw bread was good too. I had the New York Strip and baked potato cooked just like I like it. My son had bought me a gift certificate for Christmas and I took him and his girlfriend and we had a very nice time, our wateress was delightful and very attentative. There were a couple of birthdays of other diners and the wait staff came out sang and presented them with a cupcake and candle. I will go back the Black Angus is a great standby restruant."

  • "When it comes to steakhouses and experiencing fine food and a western like atmosphere,Black Angus is the place to be enjoying all of the finest in dining at these restaurants. The entire place is friendly and has areas for all of you parents that have children to enjoy some fun time for the whole family. The food is very good and the servers are also friendly too.   • "The Black Angus on Friar's Road is our night out of choice, when we feel like splurging just a little. The booths provide maximum privacy, and help to keep the dining experience quiet and conducive to conversation. The food can't be beat, and the sides are not afterthoughts, but are prepared and presented with the same care as the meat selection. The service Saturday night was even better than usual - our young waitress was cheerful and energetic - she never seemed to slow down, and was quick to get back to our table with whatever we asked for. My only fear about giving such a rave review is that I may have to wait longer for a table next visit!"

  • "I have been eating at BA for many years, this was the first time I had 4 orders of left over ribs from lunch Do not get the ribs early in evening. Dry, thin and not fresh. sorry about this report, but I do like BA and just learned a lesson about beating the crowd. We had 4 people all with full slabs, all dry. But we had great time talking for almost 1.5 hrs, they did not rush us. Started using this location after they closed the Kearny Mesa and Mira Mesa."

  • "I like Black Angus. Generally, has quiet private atmosphere in the tall booths. The drinks were very good. I had a black raspberry ginger ale. The steak sandwich had nice flavor and was not over cooked. My wife and mother-in-law had salads. They were huge and enjoyed them very much. The food was what I've become accustom and is why I return. We did have a service issue. Basic stuff that should never be an issue. No silverware and no sugar. I had to resolve these matters."

  • "Although the food and food service is excellent, there are lots of room for improvement in terms of their customer service at the front desk when customers first enter, to either ask about getting a table or to inquire about their reservation for the given day. The ladies at the front desk counter need to be more attentive to the needs of the customers, especially for those customers that had already made prior reservartions ahead of time, but still had to wait for their tables as well as the customers having to remind these ladies about their reservations, & to have their last names repeated which is totally unnecessary & uncalled for."

  • "In our earlier, non-affluent years, Black Angus was our "go to" restaurant to take our 3 daughters for a rare night out. The very private booths, reasonable prices and good food led us to go back over & over. A great place for great conversation. Our kids always wanted to go back. On Valentine's Day we went back for the first time in years, with 2 granddaughters and our daughter. Still magic...privacy, great conversation, great service, an updated menu of tasty items, reasonable prices. Our doughter just bragged about the trip to her 2 sisters, recalling our early family good times. Keep it up!"

  • "Black Angus (Kearny) was our go-to restaurant for good steaks but since our favorite location closed down, we've been coming to the one on Friars Road and the food has been a hit-and-miss at this place, very inconsistent. This time around our orders were not cooked correctly, we had 3 orders that were medium done, but 1 came out medium rare and the other 2 were well done. We are very disappointed. Similar things happened 2 of the 5 times we ate there."

  • "We take our son and his family of 4 ( 2 boys) there and they love it! The price is reasonable, the tables have plenty of room, we can converse with each other as there is little external noise and the men get lots to eat. The desserts are good and everyone goes hoe happy! Sometimes the menu side options were a little confusing to my elderly husband when ordering, but other than that no complaints at all!"

  • "When I was growing up, Black Angus was fanciest place in town. Moving to San Diego has definitely changed my palate and taste for unusual (unfortunately expensive) items. I can't image how hard it is for Black Angus to compete in a town like this. I've notice a lot of shut downs around town. After eating here, it's definitely a blast from the past. Same menu, same décor for just like my childhood Black Angus. You can't compare this place to Searsucker's or Morton's, but you're not suppose to. This is Black Angus, and I come here for nostalgic reasons and a simple steak at an affordable price. Overall the food was good just like how it used to be, and coming here on a regular night out to support an old business feels like good old times."

  • "The green beans w bacon need a low-cal, no bacon choice & said nothing about being spicy; I don't like 'hot', but they would have been delicious otherwise...some spice gave me a mild allergic reaction. The grilled artichokes were burned...just charcoal in places; they were fine last time. But the steaks - a filet & a rib-eye, broccoli, au gratins & potato soup were excellent. AND a coupon for joining the e-mail club is like a 'prize' (free dessert here); it should be usable with other coupons and not expire."

  • "We had the coupon special of steak, giant prawns, 2 sides (salad and broccoli for me) and warm brown bread for 16.99, an excellent value. The server was friendly and enthusiastic but not pushy. We were seated in a booth surrounded by a high back wall covered in fabric that kept the noise at a minimum so we could talk at a normal sound level. It's great for people with hearing aides. Coupons are available on the website."
