Used to love going to Black Angus. My wife and I were in San Diego and decided to stop in for an early dinner. Once seated, nothing went right, took at least 15 minutes to see waitress, ordered wine, another 15 minute wait. Server did explain that someone dined and dashed and she was dealing with that, so we fully understood. Asked for bread and she said it would be ready shortly since it was being warmed. Another 15 minutes, not bread. Finally got bread and our dinner. My wife's meat was totally cold. Manager did take here order off check. All of the was at 4:30 pm on a Sunday. Hate to think if we were there later when it would be busier.

We all (4) had the Steak, lobster & shrimp meal. The meat was dry, either medium or med we'll. The lobster was bland, one had almost a chlorine taste. The soup, potatoes and salad were good. The beer was very cold . The shrimp was limp but had good sauce. We had a zucchini appetizer that appeared to by fried twice. We asked for water as soon as we were waited upon and didn't get it till we were almost finished our meals. We have eaten here about every 4 to 6 weeks and this is probably the last time.

The part of the Lobster was under cooked for $35.00, this is a minor thing but has happened before. Sometimes a little under sometimes a little over.

We had a dinner with a party of 10. The food was good. The service was good. I think your wine list should be expanded for the type of dining you have. The salads were very fresh which I liked.

Not too impressed with the food this time around, sorry to say...(I used to love BA too). Stay away from the au gratin potatoes, they were overly saturated with "pepper and salt". As for the Chicken and Ribs my wife got...quite dry (save for the BBQ sauce on top)

Black Angus in El Cajon CA is my wife's favorite restaurant. I Like it too but the primary reason for going there is that I can't lose. Good food, about as much privacy as one can have in a public restaurant, always have leftovers to take home to enjoy the next day, wife always feels loved and respected that I take her there. A further word about the privacy issue. The tall booth seat backs has an effect of forming your own mini dining room. Separates from other diners and allows you to talk without much concern with those at near tables overhearing your private conversations. Recommend this venue for those times when you want great food AND private time together.

The service was poor in the lounge when we first got there. Very busy for a Friday night, but you should expect that and have more servers! We did not get a Hello or water for 20minutes. We had to ask the manager to get us drinks! When we got to dinner the server was very nice took our order and did not come back for at least 20-25 minutes!! Horrible service for Black Angus Will not come back!!

Our server although nice enough was slow as she kept talking to a small group quite often. Took a long time to get our food & it wasn't busy. My husband's steak was over cooked as was my lobster. Kind of not what I'd hoped for spending over $100 for 2.

I have to start off saying the service was excellent throughout the evening. Salads were fresh and tasty. The steaks and prime rib was not hot. Two of the steaks were very cold and sent back to be heated up. It seems like they pre-cook the meat and toss it on the grill to warm. Baked potatoes were hot, though we were given a very small amount of sour cream and I don't think any butter. Must be following orders from Michelle Obama on cutting out the fat. We got there before 6 PM and no Prime rib end cuts were left. The birthday cookie was a nice touch. The service is the only good reason to return.

We took my husbands 91 year old mother for her late Mothers Day Dinner and we were set in the first section close to the door. After we sat down a large group came in and was set in the same section with people who had physical and mental problems. I think it's wonderful they can go And enjoy themselves but we shouldn't have been set there. We couldn't hear each other.we were there at 5 so it was not crowded. We should of moved but it was alittle late with drinks etc. Big party's and older people don't mix.
