Odd for this caliber of restaurant but no mug was provided for the beer so drank it from the bottle. Not the end of the world and was probably the environmental way. Table service was very efficient and friendly.
Cowboy nachos sounded great but was extremely overpriced for what you received. The wait staff was very friendly. The restaurant was out of the wine my husband requested, but our waiter was able to recommend a very good alternative. It's always nice when the wait staff has knowledge about the wines offered. The Caesar salad was amazing. We had the chateaubriand and it was very good. The ambience is nice. I sat there with my menu, now closed, for about 10 minutes with no water or any waitstaff acknowledging that I was there, even though several passed. Finally, a manager passed by and I asked if I could order. He looked a little surprised and took my order. The food was great-had the bone-in ribeye which was perfectly grilled. Took a while to finally get the check, but that finally came from another manager. Never got to speak to anyone on the waitstaff. Great food vs. pretty poor service. The service was good but our waitress was a little busy at times.
However, the tables were tiny. My wife and I are of average height and slender build but were almost knocking knees. The two dinner plates and three side dishes barely fit on the table. We were there for a special occasion and I asked for a nice table but it didn't happen. They had many empty booths but saved them for groups of 3+. We were surprised that everyone there greeted us with a "Happy Anniversary!". Our server was Laura M and she was absolutely spectacular! Such a joy to have around and definitely made our experience there that much better. Give that one a RAISE!!!
Our food was awesome as to be expected, we started with the beef carpaccio, she had the tenderloin and I had the rib eye steak. Finally, they sent us a complimentary dessert with Happy Anniversary written on it.

We mentioned we were there to celebrate our son getting 100 percent in a maths test and at the end of the meal they gave us a dessert to share with "congratulations" written on the plate! We shared the beef tenderloin carpaccio and the chateaubriand. They were both delicious. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly. The veggies are what one might call on the firm side of al dente. Fortunately we like our veggies that way. When we got there, they informed us that the Roof was a first-come first serve seating. There was no warning on your site about this restriction-unlike the Keg Yaletown bookings. They have a 1.7 million dollar patio but they do not serve the special prices there! Tricky part because in Vancouver everyone likes a patio with sunshine in a good weather like this May summer time. Some of the older members of our group had a hard time reading the menu in the light (or lack there of). Our server was friendly and well spoken, however she only came to our table 3 times during the entire meal. Our drinks sat empty until we flagged someone down, and the bar then took an exceptionally long time to make them. For the price of the food, I expected the service to be more high-end and attentive. I do have to highlight the fact that when I booked the reservation, I had mentioned that it was a celebratory dinner for my boss, and Black & Blue went above and beyond and provided him with a lovely dessert to celebrate.
