Had a fantastic meal with great service from host (MJ) to server (Leviu) and all support staff. They went out of their way to accommodate us. Warm and friendly with fantastic food options. The mussels and flat bread were Fantastic as was the Ahi tuna. Cooked to perfection. First time there for me and I will definitely return.

I had beef tenderloin and it was one of the best I had. I should've ordered 10oz instead of 8oz was only regret about it. Little down side was on the side dish of vegetable beans. It was flavourful but too strong and I think it didn't go that well with the steak. Ambiance was great for the evening event I was there for, so it's great for special occasions. As many reviewers wrote, music was rather noisy. I was there for the meat and it was great. Highly recommended if you want well prepared steak.

Our evening started at the bar, where Ryan made us feel most welcome. Our dinner waiter was Manny, a delightful personality who was attentive and clearly knew the menu and wine list well. The appetizers were delicious, with the long bean dish and the scallops being the favourites. The filet mignon was outstanding. Best of all, we were able to enjoy several hours of the evening as there was no dining time limit imposed. Definitely looking forward to our next dinner at Black and Blue.

Requested a window seat but was placed at a corner behind a party of 10 instead. I know window seat requests cannot always be accommodated but was disappointed to note that the hostess did not even acknowledge the request until I asked after we were seated at our table. The server was friendly, but didn't seem to interested in serving us. He also forgot to pack our leftovers and never came back to refill our water. Overall, would give Black+Blue a 3/5 because of service. Food was good but so are many other premium steakhouses.

Restaurant was lovely, service was good but could of been better. We were seated in a table beside the bar as you walk in and it was incredibly cold, had to wear my jacket for most of the evening. In the future I would make sure that I request a table upstairs away from the draft.

I split the Beef Tenderloin and the New York Strip with a friend, and while the New York steak was pretty good, the Beef Tenderloin was fantastic. I would certainly be willing to pay the price again for the Tenderloin. I can't say I'd say the same for the New York strip. The restaurant was a little louder than I thought it would be, but still a great ambience. The service was great - far better than when I recently went to Coast.

Fantastic steak!!! Fantastic sides!!! Excellent service!!! But... My title is somewhat negative but very important to our overall dining experience. Black and Blue is advertised as a Classic Chicago Style Steakhouse...maybe I'm wrong, but since when does that mean more of an emphasis on the bar and the music? My wife and I had to yell at each other to be heard and the lighting was so dim I could barely read the menu. We also had cigarette smoke coming in the front door right to our table. The food was fantastic though...maybe a different table, different floor, different night???

-Service is super slow. Everytime we try to find our server, we could not spot her. Then we finally do, it takes a couple of mins before she responds to us -Food is mediocre. Nothing really special and food came out so long, we felt like they forgot our orders -The worst is they don't accept gift cards for payment for happy hour. When we got our bill, our sever mentioned that happy hour is a promotion and they do not take gift cards. She wasnt even apologetic. But what i dont understand is gift cards are equivalent to cash right??? The reason we dined there was because of thes gift cards and we ended up having to pay. Very disappointing experience. i feel really cheated, im never going back to this restaurant ever again

Excellent -- good music but not too loud that you needed to shout at your dinner companions. Service is outstanding -- it is great to go to a restaurant and not have the service disrupt you in mid sentence -- they are very considerate and provide a great customer experience. Food was very good -- steak was cooked to perfection.

The food as all excellent as would be expected in a nice steakhouse. The service through was only fair though. I had to ask for water about a half dozen times, and the steaks were served 2 minutes after we got our oysters. Very hip restaurant, and I recommend sitting on the top floor looking down over the bar. Wine list looked very good, but we were not drinking that night. As a tip, get the steak platter for $59.00pp. 3 different types of steak and 2 sides are included.

The display case in the centre of the restaurant is not for the faint of heart. If you're a vegetable forward fan, or gentle hearted toward our four legged friends, Black and Blue's two storey display case full of various cuts of (raw) meat may throw you; however the noise level is good for a business lunch and on Friday's they offer a burger and beer special that is unheard of for a downtown lunch - $11! Great burger too - beer is ok. Careful to ask for a glass with your beer though, otherwise you'll be swigging directly from the longneck.

Having been recommended this restaurant, we were rather unexcited by the chilly welcome from the reservation desk. Our servicer was efficient enough but again, rather frosty. Unfortunately, as it transpired, I made a bad menu choice and, rather than completely disrupting the rest of the table, I decided not to make an issue of it but for future reference, I would avoid the rack of lamb-not sure if it was the quality of the lamb or the way it was cooked but either way it was very poor. I'm guessing we just had bad luck as it seems like it could be a great restaurant so wouldn't dismiss it out of hand.

My boyfriend and I went here for a celebration dinner. We sat on the roof top, it was amazing. Such a good energy. We were sat right next to the small fire which was a perfect place to sit. Food was excellent as well as the sangria and dessert platter. Our waitress wasn't the best for an upscale restaurant. She took her time. However, the supervisor on the floor did a much better job.

Wine list is great, but so pricey. The food is excellent. Service mediocre to poor. 45 minutes from sit down to the end of the meal (2 courses) - for a bill of over $200, that is unacceptable. This is the third time I've eaten here, and I've had a different experience each time, 2 poor and one excellent. Consistency is not their thing, unless it is to be consistently over charging. Not good value for money, which is too bad since the beef has been, all three times, exquisite. It's also VERY noisy.

We were there for our 17th anniversary dinner and wanted to pick a place that was memorable. Black & Blue was the right pick! We enjoyed our experience there thoroughly. We had the meat & seafood platter and I'm sure we will do it all over again. We had a server with personality! It was wonderful. He even brought out a wonderful dessert for us to share to celebrate our anniversary. That was thoughtful.

First time here, got a table on the rooftop area, it is covered with a tent and surrounded by gas fireplaces to keep the heat in. I assume they open it up in good weather, but it was raining today. The rooftop area seemed a bit more trendy and the noise level was higher than downstairs. The fireplaces were nice, but we sat right next to one and it got a bit toasty. The food and the service was most excellent.

This was my first time to Black and Blue, we made a reservation plenty of time in advance, however, when we arrived it really felt like we were cramped into a corner unplanned. Our table was apparently for 6 but comfortably sat 4. While the wine and food was excellent I would rather eat somewhere that I am not arm to arm, or back to back with the neighboring table. This is actually the same reason I stopped going to Coast, another Glowbal restaurant, as the upstairs is completely cramped. With all fo the amazing dining options in the city I have to say that while the food and service was great, the general composure of the seating will not keep me coming back. Quality over qauntity. Also, good to note it is a sauna upstairs, too hot

I made a reservation via opentable and noted it was my wife's birthday. When we walked through the door, my wife was greeted right away with a happy birthday by all the staff we've encountered! There was a slight hiccup in that our table upstairs in the covered patio had a terrible wobble and once that was pointed out, we were moved to another table right away. Service was awesome, very attentive and the restaurant had a wonderful dessert for my wife after the meal. Will definitely come back and try other menu items.

First time at Black and Blue. Went because we had a totally AWESOME experience at Coast (next door--same ownership) and an enlightened young server (Named Beck--how cool is that??) who gave us cards to all the restos in the Glowbal ownership group. Had lunch..was QUITE the experience as we sat near the back and got to hear the head chef (new apparently) barking orders to the group in the back...her projection amazing although she was facing away from us. Our server Rob was beyond...just super attentive at all the right times, made PERFECT food and dessert suggestions....we could not have had a better experience and certainly our server had a large part in that!!

We ordered Wagyu, the meat was excellent. The service was inappropriate, it felt like we were at a pub or at something similar to Denny's. Definitely not fine-dining feeling. We were constantly being interrupted by staff. The wine list was very poor. Their own version of "escargot" is nothing like the traditional french version.

Recommended by my wife's colleague, so we decided to go there to celebrate our anniversary. We ordered a beef carpaccio to start, my wife ordered beef tartar as her entree, I ordered a new york trip with fries. The server was great, "A" class service. Atmosphere was good, light music playing whole night, felt like back to 80s. Carpaccio was good but surprised me you could find a better one from Cactus club. My wife can't finish her beef tartar because of the plain of taste, she had to put lot of salt and pepper to make it taste stronger and better, Hy's definitely serve better beef tartar. My NYS was good, but you could find a better one from Gotham. The best food we got was espresso creme brulee. Overall its a good dining experience.

Amazing food! If you go there, i highly recommend the steak platter. You get lamb and 2 kinds of steak with glowbals famous brussel sprouts and mushrooms. As for the mushrooms, i didnt have high hopes however they surprised me with 3 different kinds of mushrooms, not just the plain button one. For those of you who like cream corn, i recommend this one. It has a slight Jalapeno warmth to it and it just delicious. Be prepared to yell though, it is quite loud there.

We had a very lovely dinner with family in a party of six. Our service was just right: friendly, non-intrusive, helpful. The cocktails were delicious, as was most of the food. There could have been more flavour in some of the dishes, including the hush puppies, and the polenta fries were hard and dry as though they had been cooked early and left under the lights for awhile. The wagyu beef was definitely not worth the money spent, and the lobster tail was tasty but small. We loved the oysters, though, and most of the other dishes. If it sounds as though I'm being overly critical, it's because generally you should pay for what you get and this meal cost a bundle!
