  • "Steak Diane was excellent. The wine list seemed overpriced, and yet still disappointing. Nice environment, though the 80's RB music seemed a little odd. All angles seemed to be pointing to high end dining, but somehow it misses the mark. Not sure this restaurant knows what it wants to be... That said, the food was good, though I probably won't go again and do not hold it above any of the better priced local chains, like Joey's, Cactus Club or the Keg."

  • "My wife, 17 year old son and I had dinner, and it turned into the capstone of a vacation. Simply excellent food, without exception. Appetizers, steaks, Caesar salad made table side (even the dressing was made table-side, and done perfectly). I had a couple of wine pairings, very good choices. The menu does not do justice to the butter cake for dessert. The service was impeccable. We ate early, and by the time we were done the place had completely filled up, and filled with the most beautiful people in Vancouver. The manager then escorted us up to the rooftop terrace bar/restaurant, and OMG. I'm fairly sure several sports stars, Jason Bourne, James Bond and several Bond girls were all there. A date at Black and Blue is sure to pay off."

  • "Chic ambience but average food. Found it confusing to know some meals are complete and others require you to select "sides". Tried the sides, asparagus, mac cheese, long beans, scalloped potatoes all good but nothing exceptional. I ordered the chopped salad and found it underwhelming and overpriced for it was it was 75% cut up iceberg lettuce. Two of our 8 meals arrived cold but we never bothered to complain as we wanted to eat together. Our waiter was super awesome, i think his name was peter? About 5'8? Looked Italian? Anyways, he was warm, funny and an overall great server. This is the second time i have eaten here and not sure if i would bother to return? Perhaps for a caesar on the patio? HOpe the review helps! "

  • "We were first not seated inside of the restaurant but rather in the corner where we only had the view of the window facing Thierry. We were both upset because we came to Black and Blue for the ambience but it felt like we were at any other restaurant. So we asked the waiter to switch and he allowed us to sit in the inside of the restaurant. The service wasn't that great, people should've been more friendly but it felt like any other service you would get. HWe were curious why you guys asked about our 3-year anniversary because we thought you guys had a surprise like a small dessert. However other restaurants give out desserts on special occasions and I think that kind of service is what brings people back into their restaurants again. "

  • "The service was the best part of the evening. My Ceaser cocktail was too spicy and it was replaced immediately with a smile and an apology which was much appreciated! Wine came at exactly the right time as did the meal and the waitress was very professional and friendly. Ambiance....just ok...furniture a bit too basic, not super comfortable. Maybe some thicker cushions on the chairs would help. It was too bad the roof wasn't open that would have added to the ambience. Food was tasty but nothing notable. "

  • "Absolutely loved this place.. I had the mussels as my appie and the lamb duo for dinner and it it was phenomenal. Hubby had the 24oz rib eye and could cut it with a butter knife.. Portion sizes were huge.. I recommended to my aunt and she's now books for mothers day dinner... Definitely coming back "

  • "I cannot say that I have been all that impressed with Black&Blue, having been there 5-6 times I don't think I'll be going back for a while. The ambiance is nice and it is a beautiful restaurant but I don't think the chefs have the same passion for the food like the other Glowbal restaurants have. Food is mediocre."

  • "I bought the Sunday Prime Rib special and I was floored by the food. What an amazing deal. Oysters were super fresh, salad delicious and of course the prime rib was the best I've ever tasted. I was so full by the end. I was however a little disappointed by the dessert. Felt like it had just come off a buffet. The only other thing I would comment on was the terrible music (mostly bad 90's music)Otherwise, customer service was superb and again food outstanding. I would definitely go back. Thanks Tiffany"

  • "We went to Black & Blue to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary and we had a terrific time. Our waiter was very good and helpful. Because it was a special occasion we splurged and my husband had the Japanese Wagyu; I had the PEI filet mignon. Both were delicious. Unbelievably delicious."

  • "This place is like a little city. 5 restaurants all on the same block. Was very busy, but service was fairly quick considering the popularity. Prices are on the higher end but comparible to any Steakhouse of the same caliber. Side dishes were enough for 2 people. Would highly recommend for the 25 to 50 age group. Restaurant called next day to get my opinion."

  • "Our steaks (for our group of 6 ) were masterly prepared to our preferences, flavoursome, ambrosial, just scrumptious especially the prime rib and the PEI blue ribbon chateaubriand for 2. The craving for beef will be well rewarded. Their signature buttercream cake was rich but not cloy. We recommend this restaurant for special occasion but we will return for any occasion to try out their other dishes."

  • "Food was good. Service was great. A little too loud for me, but some people really like that kind of atmosphere. They have nice booths for 4 people. Nice bathrooms. They use real cloths for hand drying which is nice, but they must go through a heck of a lot of laundry in a day.the really great with communication. Made my reservation online and they called to confirm. The next day they also called to see how my experience at the restaurant was. I really appreciate that kind of service and concern for customer satisfaction."

  • "Had the burger for lunch and it was amazing! Crispy onion ring, crisp lettuce, delicious cheese - I'll definitely be going again - excited to try the delicious sounding salads. Great, energetic atmosphere. Staff was friendly, but a little overwhelmed as it was very busy, which slowed the service a bit."

  • "This was our first experience with this restaurant. We had the $75 special Sunday prime rib dinner for two which you had to pre-buy. What outstanding value. The food was outstanding and the service first rate. The first course was a dozen oysters on the half shell (very tasty and fresh) followed by caesar salad accompanied by two glasses of prosecco. Then the prime rib with Yorkshire pudding was perfectly cooked and very tender, as good as we have ever had. Dessert followed and although we're not dessert fans, we finished that as well. Great service and great value."

  • "My wife and I took advantage of the Sunday Prime Rib 'single day sale' special. While it was not our first visit to b&b, we are 'realistic' about specials. Were we ever wrong. The service from the front of house through to the end was outstanding, including confirmation phone calls and clear communication on timing. Prosecco and Oysters were a perfect start, the tableside ceasar was perfectly balanced and then the prime rib, wow, the au jus, mashed potatoes and the meat itself were the best prime rib we have had in a while. There was no room for the desserts provided - but we did have one of the three and took the other two with us. We are sooo happy that we bought two of the specials and are looking forward to going back."

  • "The quality was not bad, but for that price I did expect more. Similar restaurant like Joey's, even though not specialized in steak, with probably 50%+ price difference and I had a way more enjoyable night. This time I went with a gift card package, all I can say is food quality was not bad. The reason being, I didn't get any "wow" factors out of this. Oyster was fresh. bacon scallop was a little salty to my taste but I can't blame them for it, all bacon are salty. I'm not a dessert person, so I'll skip commenting that. The service was quite nice, I like how the waitress handle things. Restaurant decorate is nice, where I sat was a little crowded but not something that bothered me."

  • "List is too long. Few points: Food was so-so. Had high hopes for the steaks. Was expecting Hy's/Gotham quality. Service was ok. Seemed like we were bothering our server every time we asked for anything. Also, he smelled of cigarette smoke when serving us our appies & main entrees which was not appetizing. Only found out as we were paying that because we ordered the happy hour special (order 2 appies & get 2 for 1 entrees), we were not entitled to use the GLOWBAL gift cards we had brought. (Did not have this problem at Glowbal with their "Wine Wednesday" special on March 26, 2013). Perhaps a more clear "disclaimer" could be indicated or verbalized. But, we did enjoy the music playlist. It was the only thing that kept us in a good mood."

  • "So disappointed in this experience , ordered the bone in rib eye 24 Oz , worst piece of meat ever. The bone was non existence , totally embarrassing . There is no way the meat had been aged , quality control and lack of respect for the customer is all I can say . I have eaten here over 20 plus times, taken up to 10 clients , bills have ranged between $350 to $ 4000 . This is the 3rd time in the last 4 times where someone at my table had a poor cut of choice meat. I hate to write this review because the restaurant has been my goto for the last 2 years however I hear they have good burgers!!!!!"

  • "Came here on a Monday night with some friends after work. I was glad to have reserved a table on the upstairs level (much nicer than the two areas on the first floor by the window). Food, like most Glowbal Group restaurants, was above average, but nothing to rave about. Black & Blue is more about the experience as a whole. They do everything well, but not as well as say, the Top Table Group. I would recommend this place if you want a great atmosphere, and above-average food. Gorgeous interior, good drinks and a great place for dates. Choose this place over their sister restaurant next door, Coast, which is really going downhill for food/service, and in desperate need of a makeover."

  • "The restaurant was only half full, but they bought us to a table close to the door, in the middle of the hallway. We waited for 10 minutes before anyone came to serve us. We were asked to provide the receipt code for the prime ribs package at first; then, server came back and said sorry it should have been the gift card's code. Then, he came back again and said he lost it. When we asked for the bill, we waited for another 15 minutes and he again made a mistake. The prime ribs had a slight gamey taste and Keg was way better then them. The bread came with the prime rib was freezing cold on my hubby's plate. The waiting time was super long in between meals. No one offers extra water during the whole dinner. Definitely will not go back."

  • "Enomatic wines selection was wonderful. French Onion soup was the best ever. Steaks were cooked to perfection and absolutely succulent. Combine that with great service in a really happening place, and you have an evening to remember. Complaint? Yes, their best Vodka was Kettle One and they charged $17.50 for a martini! Ouch! I will still go back in a heartbeat!"

  • "Can't say enough about the food. Started with an appy from the chef, olive tapenade on a crostini. Spinach salad was not your usual spinach, different in a very good way. The steak melted in your mouth, and the beef wellington was delicious. To top off the meal, we were surprised with a dessert for our anniversary. Nice touch! We'll be back."

  • "My coworkers and I love the food there but it is ALWAYS take forever to get our food. We arrive at 1pm and we ordered right away (we checked the menu online first) and then we didn't get our food until 1:45pm !!!!! Are they shipping the meat from overseas ??? Why is it always so slow to get the food there? That's why we dont go there often anymore even though we like the food."

  • "Came with a large group for lunch on a Friday. Took over an hour to receive our food. One of my co-workers even had to leave before getting his food as the lunch hour was not enough and had to leave for a meeting. Great hot spot/venue to meet up for drinks, but only if you have an extended lunch hr. They comped truffles to go and apologized though. but unacceptable for a work lunch hour."

  • "Made reservations for 5:00pm, requested a seat on the second floor and offered to change the date/time if the seating arrangement could not be made. This was overlooked and we were seated on the first floor by the window. Technically, not even "in" the restaurant as we had a view of the front desk. It was raining heavy and the host could have offered to take our jackets. Our server was friendly and although forgetful (thought we ordered caesar salads not the caesar drink, either way the salad never came if that was the case). Bacon wrapped scallops; no complaints. Stuffed portobello mushroom; béarnaise sauce overwhelms the crab meat taste. Wagyu New York; although hard to cut, tastes tender, juicy and fatty. Wagyu ribeye;slightly overcooked"
