  • "Celebrated my boyfriend's birthday here. Servers and staff kept coming up and wishing him a happy birthday, and even gave us a free dessert. Food was excellent! Definitely recommend any of the steaks :) The restaurant even called me the next day to ask how the service had been - amazing!!!"

  • "I love this steak restaurant as it is brighter and livelier then Gotham's, Hys etc. The strip loin was excellent. The oysters were excellent. The creme brule wasn't for me. Maybe some people love it but I prefer the more traditional creme brule. I also tried the pomegranite cake... and also wasn't a big fan. But the main's were excellent and the ambience on the roof top patio is lively (and loud)."

  • "I was a bit disappointed with the food, especially with the rave reviews I've heard. For the amount of money your paying for a chateaubriande, I expected it to be better. Firstly, the beef was about half rare for my liking, especially when I ordered it medium. The carrots were also undercooked & a bit hard. While the green beans were overcooked & looked dry. I did like the ambience & enjoy the energetic restaurant vibe. But I comeback to restaurants for the food."

  • "We had a great time! Food was awesome (waygu beef is melt in your mouth) and we had good service. The waiter accidently spilled a glass of wine on a guest in our group. He brought us a dessert platter to share which was most appreciated. Definitely a great spot on a warm Vancouver evening."

  • "Spent $87 alone on appetizer with the chilled platter and calamari + our meal came to about $230 for 2 people. But the quality was wonderful. Sweetest customer service and had crepes made table side! What a delight. Would definitely go back for a special occassion! Best steaks I've ever had! Was perfectly cooked and very diverse menu with lots of different items and steaks to choose from with a wide variety of sides to choose from. Overall, a 5/5 experience! Love it!"

  • "We were so lucky to experience the upstairs patio, what an Oasis! The flames surrounding us while cool air breezed through was such a sensation. TRY ... the signature brussel sprouts, the butter cake, the Waygu beef (melts like butter) and dare to have the Macaroni Sticks with truffle! Brilliant all around!!"

The server asked if i was celebrating something and took time to make sure it was an enjoyable experience. (there is a bit of a connection between my company and his, so he was extra shmoozy) Regardless, the food quality was top notch and the service was timely and excellent."

  • "The food was great but it was a pain getting to our table just a lot of mock ups before we actually got to sit down. Our reservation was for 830 and they made a mistake of thinking it was for 1030. Then had to wait for our table for 30 minutes then we got to the rooftop and no even bothered greeting up. Was given attitude by the floor supervisor. I work in customer service andthis is not appropriate at all ... saving grace was the food. Won't be going back though. Too bad .... had really great experience beforehand but now it just leave a bitter taste in my mouth. I am not a complainer but this one didn't love up to my expectation. Bad service."

  • "Reservation online was easy. it's understandable that the waiter was a bit tired since it was a long & busy Sunday night. At the end, the manager needed to step in and took our order while the waiter was busy with other tables. The services by the waiter was a big difference when our neighbour table was ordering from the regular menu with bottle of wine (not sure how much is the bill) while we just order the prime rib special with appti and dessert with groupons (~$100 for 2 people). Overall, the food was excellent. Service is nice if you are not asking for a lot. Before we left the restaurant, one of the manager invited us to see their Roof top with the open fire. It was much more energetic than the restaurant's main dining area."

  • "My husband and I celebrated our 9-year wedding anniversary at Black & Blue and enjoyed our dinner very much. The service was good though because of large parties our dinner entrée took a bit longer than expected. The music is a bit loud for our liking, but we managed fine. It was very nice of the restaurant to serve us a complimentary anniversary dessert which we loved! My husband is a major steak connoisseur and I was worried about his expectations, however, his usual bone-in rib eye steak was delightful! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others."

The ceasar salad prepared table side by our waiter was superb (just like we fondly remember from the last time we had this - sometime in the 80's!!) and the steaks we had were as good as they come - cooked to perfection. The general vibe of the restaurant was lively but not overly noisy....but people were all clearly having a good time. This was our first time here and we will definitely be back the next time we visit Vancouver!"

  • "Absolutely loved Black & Blue! The service was amazing, my favorite was the personalized drink cart that comes to your table to make you cocktails. The food was so good that I am still craving it. Started off with the mac-n-cheese sticks which if you are a cheese lover you must try these! The steak Oscar was also very good, great piece of meat and cooked perfectly. Make sure you get the brussel sprouts too - they were like candy, so good we couldn't stop eating. I highly recommend this restaurant or any of the Glowbal Group restaurants when you are in town!"

  • "Booked black and blue for my anniversary dinner and was very impressed! Online stated that they could not guarantee rooftop for me as it's first come first serve. I booked few weeks in advance did not have to call to confirm and when I got there I got an amazing table near the fireplace on the rooftop! So impressed with reservation service as well as service at the restaurant. Hostess and server were very friendly and professional. Food was amazing! Would definitely come back here and definitely refer my fiends and family as well. Upstairs patio would be a great spot for a group celebration or even nice 2 person dinner."

  • "Well, they set the mood at the door and it was very negative. I booked this table 2-3 weeks in advance, they called me the day of my reservations to confirm and when I got to the restaurant was told that it was a 2 hour limit. I should've been told that in advance and not just before we got seated. The hostess was snotty, the food wasn't worth the money, the sidetable ceasar salad wasn't a sidetable at all, the whole experience was negative. They tried to make it up by coming to our table over and over but the mood was already set and there was nothing they could do to change it. If anything it was becoming more irritable. First time and last time. Gotham is definitely my first choice for this type of restaurant."

  • "I took my wife to Black &Blue for her birthday. It was amazing. They're almost obsessive about their meat, which is great for you as a diner! The service was incredible, and the chateaubriand for two was a very reasonably priced romantic meal to share. Drinks are too expensive, at $10 to $15 for a cocktail, but it really was a wonderful night. We'll be back for sure."

  • "The front desk is terrible! We asked for a booth seat and she said all the booth seats were reserved. Instead, we got a small table in the center of the hallway. However, during 2 hours of our dining, there was only ONE booth seat taken. The front desk girl intentionally ignored our requested. The waiter is friendly. The décor of the steak can better as it looks worse than the chain steak restaurant!"

Medium-well Prime Ribs (Yorkshire pudding, vegetables and mashed potatoes) 6. House dessert - Butter cake and Cheese pudding Simply AMAZING!!!! Everything was great about this place!   • "Disappointed overall with the visit although there were high points and low points. High points include a courteous reminder phone call. Several staff recognized special occasion. Manager highly visible and conversed with several guests in an upbeat and pleasant demeanor. My daughter was given a colouring set that kept her entertained. Free shaw hot spot. I was disappointed because we were never asked for our daughter's order, cleared her napkin and did not offer share plates. Salad not prepared tableside so we did not have the caesar the way we would have preferred. My husband had to ask our server twice for garlic which had us waiting to eat. The prime rib was good to excellent, although the texture could have been more tender."

  • "As a huge Glowbal enthusiast, my experience on Sunday with my husband was dreadful. We had taken advantage of a special prime rib meal offer, and wow, did it ever turn out awful. The table side caesar salad was not served table side, and was warm. The prime rib was tough and grissly. My husband had to send his back three times as they couldn't cook it right (too rare, too well done, and grissly each time). When we complained, the brand new manager gave us a gift card for the price of the dinner, but this didn't cover our wine or emense dissatisfaction, and then they kept us waiting another 20 minutes before the dessert was served. I'm hard pressed to wonder why I would go back."
