The manager & staff here make my every visit a special one.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMReservation issueReservation requested outdoor seating and lunch was intentionally booked late to avoid rush. On arrival we were seated downstairs and hostess simply said "no reservations for outdoors" and didn't offer any apology for the request being ignored or offer an option to wait.
I had gone the week prior and made a reservation for five which was accommodated. I have no issue if policy has changed but given request was on original reservation made a number of days prior, a call/email to advise that it was not possible would have been preferable.
In relation to food and service overall, a very enjoyable lunch and great service.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for a friend's 40th bday LunchI asked for a table on the Alberni-side of the rooftop in the special request section of your booking. When we got there, they informed us that the Roof was a first-come first serve seating. There was no warning on your site about this restriction-unlike the Keg Yaletown bookings. Anyhow, when we explained the situation to one of the managers, Jenna, she took care of us! The food was great and Sahara was a great server for us. My tenderloin was absolutely melt-in-your-mouth fabulous. I was hesitant to have steak for lunch, but just had to try it and am glad I did. Then the 20-layer chocolate cake for dessert (shared, thank goodness) was spectacular. One of the best steak house restaurants in Vancouver. Although they have other great dishes for seafood lovers! They have two private rooms that are fantastic. The new rooftop is incredible! When I arrived at 7pm the restaurant was only half full and it stayed that way. Not sure why times were restricted like this.2/4/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional food; Medicore serviceThe food was amazing!!! The vibe is very cool and hip. Some of the older members of our group had a hard time reading the menu in the light (or lack there of). Our server was friendly and well spoken, however she only came to our table 3 times during the entire meal. Our drinks sat empty until we flagged someone down, and the bar then took an exceptionally long time to make them. For the price of the food, I expected the service to be more high-end and attentive. I do have to highlight the fact that when I booked the reservation, I had mentioned that it was a celebratory dinner for my boss, and Black & Blue went above and beyond and provided him with a lovely dessert to celebrate.
