Tammy Tellis5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday brunch with a great view! The purpose of this visit was a birthday treat for a friend. It needed to be something new and interesting and Bixbys totally filled the bill--my friend was totally delighted.
Hot foods are prepared to order in the kitchen. This kept the self-serve foods on three central easily accessible stations. All were on open trays without those heavy lids to open and close. It was a very comfortable and relaxing experience. The manager came by to check on how we were enjoying the brunch and answered questions about history of the building, restaurant and the flower on the table. The waiter was equally attentive and pleasant.
All the food that I took was delicious. Roast beef, waffle and omelette were my favorites.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA restaurant gemOutstanding in every way!!!! Fresh, seasonal food, cheerful service, wonderful park views, lovely dining room and best of all you are in the history museum. A delightful place for a long lunch with wine and dessert. The Missouri trout was delicious and the coconut ice cream is hard to share. A real gem in the park.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious lunch - vegetableDelicious lunch - vegetable tart was wonderful. It's a great place to have a conversation with your companions, since the noise-level is quite low.
The servers are unfailingly pleasant and efficient.
The food is very good (especially the chocolate crème brulée!!).
And the History Museum itself is a gem!
It is unfortunate that the Museum's parking lots are fair game for joggers, making it difficult for Museum and restaurant patrons - but if you're patient, you will be rewarded with a space eventually.
And if you're up for an appetite-encouraging walk, the MUNY/Tennis Center lots are not far away.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was such a treat to eatIt was such a treat to eat here! Can't wait to return!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMI'm fortunate to live as closeI'm fortunate to live as close as I do to Forest Park - and thus the History Museum and Bixby's. This is a wonderful, local lunch spot with excellent food, attentive service and a nice view. What more could you ask for?4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Food and a View to match!Bixby's view of the park only enhances the food experience it offers. The staff is welcoming, the wait-staff is very attentive without being intrusive, and the menu's delicious selections are creative and beautifully presented. I like to bring visitors from out of town here, and they always enjoy it as much as I do.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOur first time and we willOur first time and we will be back the next time we are in St. Louis.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second visit. This was our second visit. Great experience!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful place for brunch.Wonderful place for brunch. Very upscale with great ambiance. We stayed for almost 2 hours visiting and were never rushed. Highly recommend! We had a 3 and 5 with us, who luckily were on their beat behavior, it is a pretty quiet place, but do welcome children.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMAfter a few questionable experienceAfter a few questionable experiences a few years ago at Bixby's, I stopped going there.
I love going there when the daffodils are in bloom and needing a special place for my 90 year old friend about to undergo a rigorous regime at Barnes I thought this would be a good venue. I talked to the manager about my needs and he was very helpful and accommodating. Obviously, Bixby's has a new manager from a few years ago and it was reflected in the wonderful quality of my experience. I'll go there again and often. It was DELIGTFUL.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThank you to our waitressThank you to our waitress for letting us know the quiche and waffle and bread pudding helpings would be small
The brunch was very nice
Looking over Forest Park is lovely4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI know the brunch menu itemsI know the brunch menu items are "small plate" but the portion of quiche was less than half-inch sliver, looked like a joke!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBixby's is a wonderful placeBixby's is a wonderful place to dine. The location is unique being that it's in a museum. I loved the open atmosphere and table set up. The view of Forest Park heightened my dining experience. I would definitely return and recommend to others.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMI picked the wrong day toI picked the wrong day to go to brunch at 10am. The history museum was hard to get to since there was a marathon being run thru Forest Park. Other then that it was a great experience.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Carrot Coconut soup wasThe Carrot Coconut soup was outstanding! The Chopped salad was ordinary but good.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty!Highly recommend the crab cakes. Beef tenderloin sliders also very tasty. Enjoyed our lunch. Will return.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBixby's is truly a treasureBixby's is truly a treasure in our neighborhood. The quality of the food, the and the view of Forest Park set it apart from other museum restaurants I have visited. It is the ideal place to meet a friend for a relaxed gourmet lunch, especially on days too cold or too hot for a sidewalk cafe. Forest Park covered in snow provided a stunning mural as viewed from the second floor location. Portions are sized for lunch and the prices are reasonable. The menu changes with the seasons and the presentation is exquisite. Try the crab cakes!3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMMy second experience at Bixby'sMy second experience at Bixby's and it was fabulous both times. The food was outstanding, and the attention and service provided by Kathy was above outstanding. Plan on seeing me again, and again.]

Sometimes I hate promoting it because it's such a gem, I want it to stay just the way it is!!! Best kept secret in St. Louis!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was wonderful andThe food was wonderful and the order was delivered promptly. The service was outstanding. I brought a guest who was French, and the quality of the food preparation and presentation could rival a top restaurant in any European city. The option of local specialties (such as the Missouri trout) made it a perfect choice for an out-of-town visitor. An excellent experience in all regards, thank you.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMChocolate Creme Brulee is DeliciousThey have some really unique main dishes that are absolutely delicious and the quality of the ingredients is excellent, but we didn't care for the side dishes. Highly, highly, highly recommend the chocolate creme brulee. It is unbelievably good. For a restaurant that was almost empty, at the time we were there, the service wasn't nearly as good as I expect for a restaurant like that.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMA day to rememberMy fit 90 year old father, my husband, and I had a lovely time. The food was remarkably good. The ambiance on a cold spring day was lovely. The view of the park with the emerging daffodil blooms topped off the cloudy, blustery day. We will return.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to Bixby's forWe have been to Bixby's for Sunday Brunch several times, in groups ranging from 2 to 18 people! Food is consistent and delicious. Small plates from the kitchen are served hot and fresh (although a bit slow sometimes), if you need more than is provided with the buffet. Service is top-notch. You can't beat Bixby's for Sunday Brunch!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for lunchExcellent lunch at reasonable prices - great selection of sandwiches, salads and soups. Beautiful view, spacious and quiet.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place for lunchBixby's is a great place to meet for lunch. The food is fresh and good with a variety of choices on the menu. Great service; delicious food!3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMHistory, Finely DinedA welcome surprise where great dining is least expected... a history museum. A remarkable, albeit short, menu punctuated with elegant, interesting dishes including a delicious vegetable tart, charred chicken, and pumpkin hummus. Really, this place is good. The wine list is also short but quite adequate. We enjoyed a lovely Marlborough NZ Sauvignon Blanc with lunch. What was also remarkable was the price, modest, even cheap. Great food at low prices equals great value. The view overlooking Forest Park was a nice plus. By mid afternoon, we left full, happy and with money still in our pocket. And a bit more educated about George Washington and the Civil War in Missouri (2 attractions at the time). Who could ask for more?1/19/2013 12:00:00 AM
