  • "I enjoy luncheons at Bixby's. I have tried a number of the menu choices and liked the mini crab item and the vegetable frittata. Yesterday I had the Monte Cristo and found it poor. The bread was like a soggy french toast, the chicken was Ok, but the cheese minimal. Overall, it is a very pleasant dining setting, and I will return."

  • "I always enjoy going to lunch at the History Museum. Bixby's is very consistent as to their food. I took my grandson and he loves the sliders they fix for children. We had a good time looking out the window seeing the activity in the park. Our waitress was very good."

  • "We were disappointed with the restaurant. I think our expectations were too high. Too much mustard on the sausage sandwich, too much vinegar in the potato salad. The fish tacos were OK, bean side dish was bland. Because of this we did not get dessert."

  • "I love this brunch, it is a beautiful setting, good food and usually great service. Our waitress was very nice. I am not a fan of unruly children and while I know the management is not responsible for the behavior of other people's children there should be a way of telling those parents to control their children. After all this is not a cheap place nor a playground."

  • "I dine in this location very often. Seldom is the food anything but great. However, the service is non existent. It appears they cannot handle a full house of patrons. I have another reservation in the very near future. I can only hope they will hire more servers and train them well. Another wonderful restaurant, Harvest, has just closed. Some of their servers may be looking and those servers are fabulous"

  • "3 of us had a salad and frittata, which was not good. It had beets that were hard, not roasted long enough. The frittatas were room temperature. There was very little dressing on the salad. The service was fair."

Their menu changes with the seasons and each season has a fabulous selection of dishes. This season had asparagus bisque which was superb!! My favorite combo is a soup and appetizer --- both are generous enough to combine as a (very) filling lunch. I make opportunities to lunch at Bixby's."

  • "Food on two occasions was just very average, if that. Service was outstanding. Brunch that began at 10 had no food on buffet line except cold salads until 10:30. Inconvenient location of buffet for handicapped or elderly. Buffet selections, when available, limited and uninteresting. Menu items good, but small plates and cold. Lunch menu interesting and coordinated with special exhibition at museum, results disappointing. One comment, "Best part of the special sandwich was the bun!""

  • "Haven't been to Bixby's for a few months, and we found it continues to shine on its brunch. The buffet tables have been moved to the hall, thus providing more seating in the dining room. The options on the cold food table (salads, fruit, salmon, etc.) were tasty and interesting. I didn't try the hot items, because I wanted to save room for their Benedict of the day (I chose Black Forest ham) and their outstanding bread pudding. "

  • "Ordered off the special "Prohibition" menu. 3 had the Monte Cristo which they liked. I had the Gussie.A bratwurst on a hamburger roll. The role was burned. The pickled red cabbage on the sandwich overwhelmed the sandwich. Impossible to taste the brat or gouda cheese. All 4 sandwiches came with what was supposed to be German potato salad. This was not the German potato salad I or others from the German area of south city know. It was cut up red potatoes swimming in a vinegar sauce. For dessert, we had lemon sorbet, raspberry custard. The sorbet was "pucker your mouth lemony. The custard was good. View was great. Staff was attentive & friendly."

  • "Sitting at a beautiful window-side table, I was looking forward to a great birthday lunch with my late 80s Mom. We hoped to have time in our two-hour window to enjoy an exhibit, but service was so slow, no luck! When my Mom told our waitress she was hard of hearing, she turned to me to speak rather than my Mom - disappointingly disrespectful. After a 15-minute wait for dessert, she told us they didn't have it. It took another 10 minutes to get our check. I had hoped my Mom would be treated with the dignity she deserves. I will not be comfortable returning there with her."

  • "We took a friend that had never been to Bixby's to the Sunday brunch. And she loved it! She plans on taking some of her family there for the Sunday brunch. It is a very relaxing and beautiful place to have a meal. The food was very good and the menu portions were perfect. If you're the type to load up on buffets this is the place. Excellent Salmon! When we arrived we sat for a long time and I finally asked if there was a waiter for our table. Once she appeared she was very good. Would I go back? Definitely!"

New omelet was brought, unfortunately my husband had finished his entree quite a while before I received my correct omelet. This should have been quicker, I've worked in kitchens and know it doesn't take that long to make and omelet!"

Our waiter was pleasant, but because we were the last seating of the afternoon, I had the impression, at times, that people were waiting for us to finish so they could wind down their day. We were not given crackers to go with our meal until we asked and then I had the impression that this was not part of the meal. We did ask for dessert because we were celebrating our birthdays, and the waitress made this a complementary portion of our bill. She also recommended the chocolate brulee which was OUTSTANDING! They should make this a signature dessert. "

  • "My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Bixby's last Sunday. It was great. Window seat with beautiful view of Forest Park. We had reservations and there was no wait to be seated. I like the brunch with the included a la carte brunch items. For a la carte items we tried the omelets, eggs benedict and waffles. All were very good and individually prepared and came out hot. The brunch table was equally impressive. Fruit, cheese, sea bass and beef wellington were all delicious. Small deserts off the brunch table as well as the a la carte bread pudding were delicious. The included champagne was also good. Our server Nikki was busy but kept a watchful eye on us and got assists from other servers. Look forward to returning."

  • "The chef's brunch was fantastic and delicious. Every single hot dish was unique and cooked to perfection, nothing was over cooked in the hot dishes. The desserts were the perfect bite size portion. Every single dish we sampled from the buffet was the best that I have ever had. The best beef wellington, best gooey butter cake, best brownie, and the most delicious, flakey yet moist and seared to perfection Sea Bass. I can not wait to be back. The price is high, but worth every penny for the high quality ingredients they used. Only complaint was the woman hostessing was shouting very loudly as she was delegating. "

  • "I have been going to brunch at Bixby's for some years. This week's was the least good in my experience. Removing the buffet from the dining room into the lobby seems to have devalued its quality: the sausages were limp, the bacon tasted tired, the salads were limp in their dressing, the beef was gray, and the fish was overcooked. It all tasted like it was warmed, not cooked, on the premises. The hot dishes served at table were better, but my egg benedict (just one - need to change the name on the menu?) was hard. Service was stretched, largely because the extra tables resulting from the buffet's exile don't seem to have resulted in extra staff. Servers are nice, ambience is good as ever - but it looks like the place is coasting."

  • "I've eaten lunch here many times and loved everything about it. Last week was the first disappointment. My spinach salad was a tasteless, unimaginative and unattractive pile of leaves and stems. it had a few tiny slivers of cheese in it, and an adequate amount of small tasty mushrooms, plus a few baked cornbread croutons. Instead of bringing extra dressing, our server said it was lightly dressed and that I might need more dressing. I took a long time to mix it up, but it definitely needed more dressing, which did little to perk it up. With that said, this lunch experience was definitely an aberration. "

  • "My friend and I have had lunch at both Panorama at the Art Museum and at Bixby's recently. We both agreed that Bixby's has by far the better food. My herb frittata and field green salad was delicious and her soup and spinach salad was also good, and both beautifully presented. The service was very fast. And we were glad we saved room for dessert - we both had the chocolate brulee - superb!"

  • "I had lunch at Bixby's with a co-worker and, though the quality and ambience was great as expected, we both found the menu to be a bit limited and were surprised that what we got wasn't what we expected per the menu description - frittata with side salad turned about to be a big salad with a little frittata on the side."
