We went to Bittersweet to celebrate my wife's birthday, and were hoping it would be a nice quiet evening, since that was our experience on a previous visit. This time, however, the noise level was so high that we could barely hear each other talk, and while the service was efficient, it was not very "personable" in that the waitress didn't really have much to offer as far as making our experience special. I am also suspicious when we ask for recommendations, and she only recommends the most expensive items, from apps to wine to entrees.

The waitstaff was very ambivalent. I checked menu on the website earlier that day and was looking forward to an item I found. It wasn't on the menu at the restaurant. When I asked the waitress about it, she said that the menu changes weekly in a very curt manor. The spicey tuna rolls were tiny. The whole fish was good but could use a whole more veggies. Not impressed and will never go back.

Artistic presentation with delicious results. Architectural American cuisine with a European twist. We were there on Saturday night, which was bustling, but the food and service were spot on. Nice drink menu that skirts the ordinary.

All of the food was good (the one dish that we didn't love was the rabbit), but it was quite loud (6:30 PM on a Saturday) and 2 members of our party couldn't hear the waitress and the other people in our party. Great service and cute spot, but tough for anyone who doesn't tolerate noise well.

I noted in the reservation (made a week ahead) that my husband and I were celebrating a special occasion, in hopes of having a nice table. Instead, we were jammed up against a wall in a high-traffic zone in the dining room. Service was inattentive and poorly timed. The food was good, not great - presentations were beautiful, but the flavors didn't wow us by any stretch, and the wine list was slim.

My husband and I had a great dinner at Bittersweet, our first visit there. Appetizers of spicy tuna roll (very different) and sausage were very good. Entrees of coq au vin and the pork. Pork was very generous and both were quite good. House-made bread was excellent! Desserts and coffee made for a really great dinner, and Rachel's attentive service made it a wonderful evening!

I experienced Bittersweet for the first time and brought along my brother-in-law and his wife who are both foodies and knowledgeable wine enthusiasts. The service was excellent. We did not want for anything at anytime and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the wine list. The food was very well executed....great quality and interesting twists to the Rabbit, Duroc Pork and the Coq Au Vin. I usually like escargot the traditional way with a lot of butter and garlic but Bittersweets' escargot was excellent. The apple dessert with the butterscotch ice cream was not quite what I was expecting...cake a little dry for me. Overall, I would highly recommend Bittersweet for foodies and wine enthusiasts.

Bittersweet is serving the most inventive and creative food in the Denver area. There is a modernist approach in both preparation and presentation. It is obvious that a lot of thought and time have gone into each plate, and the dishes are worth all the effort. They are beautiful and delicious. The wine list is interesting and priceworthy. The staff is welcoming and helpful. We love this place.

First, a lament. Why can't better restaurants stock Tanqueray10 gin? The substitute was Jackalope. Decent, just not the same. Birthday dinner. My wife had the buffalo mozzarella ravioli. It was all about the broth which was excellent. I had the charcuterie tray. Two of the salamis were very similar. One of the cheese was gouda which wasn't very interesting. My wife had the scallop dinner. It was picture worthy and very tasty. I had the wild boar. It was cooked to well done which was a little surprising. I guess it was done for food safety. The accompanying risotto was very good. We finished with Smores. Very unique with the hickory smoke. All in all, a good night out.

I've driven by this restaurant many times and had never tried it - was I missing out. Kind of a neighborhood location but easy to find. Fun list of beers and a decent wine list (not huge). I had the rock fish and my wife had scallops. Both were excellent. Nice portion size - not too big, not too small. Limited dessert choices but what we had was excellent. Definitely plan on going back.

I've heard great things about Bittersweet & saw much of the good I've heard about during my visit. Service was great; the mood was nice but it was so hot in the restaurant. Prices were a bit high for the amount of food (& the fact they pull much of their ingredients from the gardens outside- really cool but that should show in pricing). My scallops were cooked perfectly but pulled down by salty greens & a heavy sauce- each of which were really good on their own but took away from the delicacy of the scallops. This will strictly be a special occasion place- after I visit a few more on my list :)

Service was great. However, the food itself was bland. My bacon wrapped rockfish was dry(over cooked) and the combination was like eating smoked oysters. My wife's chicken and potatoes was also bland and once again the chicken was on the dry side. The pork belly starter was good but the portion was tiny. The dessert was basically smores in a jar which was the most creative and tasty of all of our dishes. The small dining area on the north side was incredibly loud and we are in our 30s, so it's not an old folks problem. The plating of the food and the ambiance and the wine selection give the feel of a top end and romantic restaurant. But, be sure to drink a lot of wine to compensate for bad entrées and hearing loss.

I have wanted to go to Bittersweet for months, and finally, we went on a last-minute Open Table reservation. The ambiance of the space is lovely - especially the patios. We did eat inside because of the sun, but the doors were open, so it was pleasant. The escargot was great - my husband actually ate a few and liked them. He loved his salmon, and I tried the wild boar (a little tough). The sauces are fabulous. Be sure and try the s'mores for dessert. Very inventive and fabulous flavor. We'll be back - definitely in my top 2 restaurants in Denver.

My wife and I come here every year to celebrate our anniversary, and various other special occasions and we've never had a bad experience. This year we got a cheese plate appetizer which was perfectly paired. I'm a huge parmesean fan though, and I thought the parm presented on this particular plate was a little lacking. That was my only complaint of the evening however. The wine - a wonderful French Red - was divine, and went well with my perfectly cooked wild boar main course. This was my first time having wild boar, and hopefully will not be my last! My wife had the two course vegetable dinner, which looked incredible, and she couldn't stop raving about. If you haven't gone to Bittersweet, do so as soon as possible!

The appetizers were the best part of our meal for four people. The escargot was really top notch, the sweetbreads, pork belly were fun and tasty, bread out of this world. For dinner, three fish and I got the pork. Meat was the main event and the boar I had was tasty, but the sides withit, mini amount of green with tasty but small portion of some sort of grain felt like it needed a bit of root veggie to balance big chunk of meat. Same with fish dishes. I expected stronger presence of veggies to the dishes, instead of all sorts of sauce dribbles on every dish

We went early and the noise of the street was a little prominent; hence the ambience rating. But the service was absolutely first rate - our waitress was attentive without being pushy and read our needs very well. The food was good but shy of great. The barley with the wild boar was really outstanding. The rockfish had great flavor, too and was cooked to perfection.

Menu is small, but the food was good. Escargot was an excellent, non-traditional, preparation and may have been the best I have had. Scallops were also very good. My husband ordered the sweet breads and wild boar which were also very well prepared. Our server was friendly and attentive and helped us make a great wine selection. Decor was a little lacking....we sat in the dining room closest to Alemeda.

My wife and I were introduced to Bittersweet by our dear friends, Julie and Andrew. Julie has been an advocate for organic healthy fare for many years. Everything on the menu was a viable option and decision making was challenged with so many incredible choices. The charcuterie was incredible. The wild boar was out of this world and the rockfish was a dish to make you linger on every bite. Do not get me started on dessert. None of this is surprising as they put their 600 sq ft organic garden to great use. This is our new "go-to" restaurant.

Bittersweet seems to focus a bit too much on dated plating techniques and not on taste. We we start by stating that everything we had was at least decent and most was good. The Escargot was overwhelmed by the sauce and the dumplings were better than the featured ingredient. Soup and salad were good. Main courses were just ok. The scallops were overcooked and rubbery. Boar was also overcooked but the very earthy barley side was quite good. Pace was very slow. We would go back but for the price we will probably hit a few other places first.
