A word from Bisutoro
Bisutoro, which means "bistro" in Japanese, is the result of a partnership between Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto, Patrick Fahey of the Macao Trading Co. and Emmanuelle LaSalle Hill and Tommy Hill, partners at Los Americanos. The menu, created by Chef Morimoto, features American dishes with Asian accents, alongside a Japanese Whisky-focused cocktail program and a well rounded, international wine list. A 74-seat dining room and 24-seat bar features cityscape murals by renowned street artist Charlie Doves, exposed brick walls, leather banquettes and mid-century retro chairs.

  • Worth a trip to New York!

I had dinner at Bisutoro during a trip to New York with my mom, and every aspect of our evening there was spectacular. The food -- Asian bistro style -- was incredible. We devoured the steamed buns with tender short rib and cucumber as appetizers, snacked on a salad so good we had to ask the chef for his dressing recipe, and practically jumped for joy over the wonderfully avant-garde spicy tuna sushi. Our server was knowledgeable (he chose a bottle of wine for us without looking at the list, and it was absolutely perfect with everything we ate that night), charming, and a lot of fun. The restaurant was trendy and urban-cool but cozy. I'm thrilled that we got to partake in Chef Morimoto's amazing cuisine, and I can't wait to go back!

We look for restaurants with great reps when we are traveling and had a great early evening experience. Food and service were top notch. Loved the look and feel of the place. Great bar though there were no crowds at 8PM during Christmas week which was fine for us. Give this place a try.

Bisutoro is one of those rare finds in Manhattan - great food at great value with noise level suitable for great conversations. We visited on a Thursday evening and were able to have a terrific experience. Definitely recommend this restaurant.

I heard about this restaurant and decided to book a table for a friends birthday. The group is mostly NYC foodies, who like to discover new places. We were not disappointed by our experience. Our waiter Justin, made great recommendations for all of our courses and wine. We will definitely be coming back here again! We had a small group and had a great time, would also recommend for slightly larger parties (no more than 10) or even a date if you can get a corner or upstairs table.

Intriguing appetizer selection but fell flat on execution; the crab dish tasted like a store bought chip dip and soup dumplings have nothing in common with actual soup dumplings. Entrée menu is dull but the uni carbonara stood out among the dishes and would have been perfect if it was a bit less heavy. Brownie cakes were dry not fudge-y at all and came with a chocolate sauce dip; not very exciting. This place will likely face the fate of former tenants 66 and Canvas and be renamed a few months down the road.

We are fans of Morimoto's signature location, but were pleased to find this more casual scene with excellent food too! Service was attentive and friendly. We didn't understand why the spot wasn't more crowded. If I had one drawback I would say the location is a little out of the way. I am sure if it were packed the noise level could get deafening, but on a snowy Sunday evening it was perfect for me.

Cool decor, bad lighting, less than interesting menu and boring cocktails. I was looking forward to falling in love with this place as a new addition to the neighborhood but was unfortunately let down.

Really great casual Asian influenced fare. Don't expect crazy over the top Irin Chef dishes. Do expect casual food that is delicious, mostly with a twist that makes it different (and better) than your typical neighborhood place. Really loved the baked oysters, mushroom onion soup dumplings, mussels (delicious spicy lobster & sake broth), & miso fish.

We loved Morimoto's Philly and NYC restaurants, so when we heard about his newest concept "Bisutoro, we were very excited to taste his latest creations. Sadly, everything we ordered did not live up to Morimoto's high standards or creativity that we were used to. Hopefully, the food, lack luster service and poor ambiance will improve soon.

Was excited to try the revamp of this restaurant, after trying its predecessor in the same spot earlier this year. Both attempts share the same outcome = mediocre. The food is so heavy and so saturated in unnecessary sauces and buttery grease....its really unnecessary, as the true flavor of the food becomes lost. On an upside, the service is good and the drink/wine prices are very fair to market value. Its worth trying if you're in the neighborhood, but otherwise don't bother.

I brought my wife and daughter to dinner on a weeknight. We ate early, so it was't crowded. Not a large selection on the menu, but we had no problem finding something to enjoy. I had the rock shrimp appetizer Tempura lettuce warps my wife had the short rib buns and my daughter had the rock crab and avocado. We all loved our choices and shared. my wife and I both had the spicy roast chicken with crispy risotto! which was very different and great. My daughter raved about the sea bass she had. Highly recommended. The wait staff was prompt , polite and attentive.

Arrived at 9pm with a party of 4. We had a round of whiskey based cocktails at the (well lit) bar before being seated. We ordered a few starters to share for the group: spicy tuna, french onion soup dumpling (delicious, make sure to eat it hot!), Quinoa salad + Teriyaki Foam Oysters. Later, everyone ordered their own mains: Spicy Chicken, Steak Frites, Crispy Chicken Noodles and a Burger! All were fantastic - a very interesting play on the french 'bistro' theme.

Great new restaurant in the neighborhood by Morimoto. Had the baked oysters (which were surreal), the spicy tuna on crispy rice (best spin on it I've tried) and the Morimoto burger which is up there with the Minetta Tavern burger from a quality and taste perspective although obviously with an Asian spin to it. Looking forward to going back and trying the short rib buns and chicken with fried risotto.

The cocktails were good, enjoyed the Japanese whiskey cocktails. The burger was fine, nothing special. The wasabi aioli that they put on the burger was good and unique, but I only really tasted it in one bite; it would have been a lot better had they used more, or put some extra on the side. The plates that the burger was served on were not completely cleaned, they had streak marks on them. Service was poor. Took about 10 minutes to get the waitress's attention to order a drink in between ordering our food and our meal coming out. I started with looking over, then waving, then finally walked over to get her to stop talking to the hostess and actually wait on her table. No other staff noticed me throughout this time either.

Had dinner with a couple of friends and had a great time. Enjoyed interesting dishes that were all very tasty and friendly staff. We had a lot to catch up on so it didn't really matter that the service was slow. I'm not going to blame them for that though since they're still in the first couple weeks of being open. We had a very good time!

We really wanted to like it. Just as we really wanted to like Tribeca Canvas. Atmosphere is marginally better. Service was very friendly/accommodative, although seemed to disappear for long period. Cocktails were very disappointing and small despite high prices. Food was just ok, just not up to the reputation and talent of Morimoto. Wasn't terrible, just not sure why we would want to go back. Hopefully they will continue to work on the concept and execution and improve over time, as we would really like to see it be successful.
