I had the potpie again and this filling (pork) was equally as tasty and satisfying as the lamb I had earlier. Our table of three shared two appetizers ( pate heavenly) and two salads. We had ordered just one salad but when they brought a different one the error was quickly noted and the original brought as well. The citrus salad was especially crisp, tasty and fresh. A second diner enjoyed the potpie as well and the third had a beautiful trout. The menu is uncomplicated, featuring house and daily specials. Servers are perfectly attentive, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Went back two nights in a row3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMParis in Chicago!Having lived in Paris, I can say authoritatively that Bistrot Zinc is literally a bit of Paris transported to Chicago. Except for the English going on around you, you would be hard-pressed to know that you were not in some neighborhood bistrot in the 16eme arondissement. The food is not "gourmet", but it is wholesome fare of the kind found in typical French cafes, bistrot, etc. I mean by this that it is excellent. it is hard to have a bad meal anywhere in France. Even the most humble establishments serve decent food. Bistrot Zinc serves wonderful food, created with care and served with pride. On our recent visit, three of our foursome chose the Cassoulet with white beans, lamb shoulder, garlic sausage, and duck confit. The food, service, and ambiance exceeded our expectations. We had the Steak Frites, the hamburger, several glasses of wine, and profiterole and coffee for desert.
