French treatWe always enjoy this authentic restaurant that remains fresh and interesting6/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time, just as goodThey also will help me pick gluten free from the menu. And had a delicious chocolate cake I could eat and 2 other choices. Unfortunately, the chef puts bread crumbs in the escargot with garlic and butter which means I could not eat it! All six of us liked what we got and we all chose different items!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMClassy neighborhood French bistroAwesome steamed mussels with wine cream sauce and chocolate mousse that melts in your mouth. Service was great!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat placeSolid French fare in a beautiful room, front opens onto Rush St. weather permitting. We sat looking out at the street on a beautiful evening. Highly recommended.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMMust do restaurant! We enjoyed a wonderful visit with friends from North Carolina with wonderful food, great wine & very good service. Love it.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMFavorite French RestaurantThis is a really great bistro that has been around for a long time, with a great reputation. Everything is as it should be: food very good and consistent , service always warm and knowledgeable, management is always present and walking around. I love the interior, and when the windows are open it's awesome. The owner is funny and warm and she plays really great music.6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA long-standing favorite thatA long-standing favorite that never disappoints. Some of the best service anywhere--would give them an extra start in this category if one were available.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMcharming oasisIn the crazy, pulsing Rush Street restaurant scene, Bistro Zinc is a little oasis. I come to Chicago often for business and always eat here. it's a quiet but interesting typical little French bistro, and is great for groups as well as for dining alone. The menu ranges from conventional bistro food to dishes with creative touches. Love this place.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMQuinessential French BistroVery good bistro food with excellent service. We are visiting in Chicago but would come often if we lived in the neighborhood. Nice atmosphere and excellent service.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent LunchAs always, best escargot! Hope they never change the recipe. Quiche, beer stew, etc. was excellent too. We have never been disappointed.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat DiningFood was excellent. Exceptional choices with awesome ingredients! Would go again.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Escargot!!!We had a wonderful dinner here last Saturday night. They were prompt on our reservation time - our table was ready when we arrived. It was busy, but we had attentive service and were served very quickly. In fact, I suggest taking your time ordering in order to slow down and enjoy your meal. The escargot was fantastic - one of the best I've ever had. We also shared the special beef short ribs and both got a different crepe for our main entree. All the food was fresh and prepared perfectly. We were too full to share dessert. The only drawback was our waiter never officially introduced himself to us, but it didn't matter because he was attentive and thorough. We'll be back for more escargot!!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMCharmingThis must be a favorite hang out for the neighborhood, it's just lovely. Lots of charm, very French, with an indoor/outdoor feeling. It hits just the right note. You want to take the staff home with you, they are so nice.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMFrom Fabulous to DisappointingMy husband and I have always made Bistrot Zinc our first restaurant stop in Chicago. We still love it because it has so many dear memories for us, however, the food and service this time were disappointing! We have always recommended the restauraunt to friends, but now I think I would recommend with reservation.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMwell rounded bistrotfriendly and professional, typical but updated bistrot menu, very consistent for all meals.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply PerfectMany restaurants try to act like they are spot on, but Bistro Zinc actually has every element of a dining experience down to a science. Enjoyed my experience4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMSolid French Execution, solidSolid French Execution, solid French service. Great food.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ServiceOur server was amazing. He was genuine, personable, and knowledgeable. He steered me toward tasty cocktails and later helped me decide on a dessert. We got the soup (potato soup with haricots verts that was spectacular) and dunk confit for appetizers and both really hit the spot. For our entrees we got mussels and chev salad. My salad was delicious but the mussels and fries were not so good. They seemed to be low quality and over cooked. The fries were nothing special - not even seasoned. We got chocolate mousse and almond cake for dessert. Both were delicious. Nothing really set Bistrot Zinc apart from Bistrot Margot except for the service. We need to visit B.Z. more to decide.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMA pleasant suprise in theA pleasant suprise in the Rush Street area. Very good French Bistro fare. Went with a business partner, who is French, even he liked it! Really nice not to deal with the attittude at the front desk, which is now so common in this city's dining scene. If you just want good food, a nice, and reasonably priced selection of wines, and friendly place to enjoy the evening, this is your spot.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMVIBRANT FLAVORSSO GOOD! Can't believe I have never been, but I plan to return many times! Had the Veggie Moroccan couscous, and it was amazing in flavor and portion size! Ordered the grilled asparagus as a side as well, and it was more than plenty to share with 2-3 ppl. My friend ate the salmom (special entree) and she loved it as well. The service was exceptional and ambiance was pleasant. Great for a Friday night dinner out!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMVery traditional french experience.Very traditional french experience. We set up the reservation 15 minutes before we arrived and were promptly seated. My date commented how nice it was and how it reminded him of the restaurants in Paris. My veal stew was amazing...so much so that my date ate half of it! I don't know why I've waited so long to try this neighborhood gem.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe felt like we were in theWe felt like we were in the countryside of France. This place is a gem. If we stray for a couple of months, we are always surprised, and reminded, by how consistently comfortable and authentic the food and service are. It is probably one of our favorite restaurants year in and year out.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond Time a Charm Too!My second visit in a month, this one was equally terrific. I had the potpie again and this filling (pork) was equally as tasty and satisfying as the lamb I had earlier. Our table of three shared two appetizers ( pate heavenly) and two salads. We had ordered just one salad but when they brought a different one the error was quickly noted and the original brought as well. The citrus salad was especially crisp, tasty and fresh. A second diner enjoyed the potpie as well and the third had a beautiful trout. The menu is uncomplicated, featuring house and daily specials. Servers are perfectly attentive, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Though we like to try new restaurants when in the city, it will be hard to stay away!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMLike a bistro in Paris Limited,Like a bistro in Paris

Went back two nights in a row3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMParis in Chicago!Having lived in Paris, I can say authoritatively that Bistrot Zinc is literally a bit of Paris transported to Chicago. Except for the English going on around you, you would be hard-pressed to know that you were not in some neighborhood bistrot in the 16eme arondissement. The food is not "gourmet", but it is wholesome fare of the kind found in typical French cafes, bistrot, etc. I mean by this that it is excellent. it is hard to have a bad meal anywhere in France. Even the most humble establishments serve decent food. Bistrot Zinc serves wonderful food, created with care and served with pride. On our recent visit, three of our foursome chose the Cassoulet with white beans, lamb shoulder, garlic sausage, and duck confit. Wonderful!!!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently good food withConsistently good food with an interesting bistro twist. Located to walk to so parking is not an issue.3/8/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent French Bistro in ChicagoWe just moved to the Gold Coast in Chicago from Charlston, SC. My wife and I walked to Bistro Zinc on a cold night. It was perfect! The food, service, and ambiance exceeded our expectations. We had the Steak Frites, the hamburger, several glasses of wine, and profiterole and coffee for desert.
