A word from Bistrot Massilia
Born in Lyon to a family who really knows their way around the kitchen, Executive Chef Vincent serves traditional food without taking shortcuts. Food has always been his passion, with one of his earliest food memories at age four, preparing steak with peppercorn sauce for his father.

Childhood travel through Africa and the Caribbean has helped to influence Chef Vincent's traditional approach to French food. Once in a while he will surprise you with a hint of a French colonial ingredient.

All of his food is prepared with care. The veal stock in the French onion soup takes days to make from scratch. The french fries are triple fried to ensure that the center is creamy and the outside is lightly crisp. Sauces are fresh, made from scratch. All food is made just for you when you order.

Step away from the hustle and bustle of life. Slow down, relax, and be our guest at Bistrot Massilia.

  • Does not like to honor discounts

Made our reservations thru Open Table for 2 on 12-29-13 at 6 pm. Got confirmation of our reservations...everything great. Then later that day got a call from the restaurant asking if we would be using a discount such as Living Social. When I told them yes we had a Living Social coupon I was told they were full that day for customers with coupons. Asked about the next night and the answer was the same. On and on it went till we finally hit January 8th as an evening we could come. No where on Living Social website or on our coupon does it say that there will be limited seating for customers with discount coupons. If they didn't want to honor these discounts then they shouldn't have offered them. So just lost out on our Open Table 100 points.

I was looking forward to dining at Bistrot Massilia after I saw the pictures of the French Onion soup on yelp. The soup was average. The menu was pricey, and the restaurant was not very appealing. The New York steak was not a good piece of meat for the price. It was very fatty.

I discovered this restaurant while trying to find a place that was in between my home in Highland Ca, and some friends we were meeting who lived in Tustin. The food was great! I tried Escargot for the first time and had to order a second round of it. It was the best and I'll probably only eat it there. It's a neighborhood restaurant but it's a great little find. There wasn't a huge crowd which was perfect for me. I would go there again.

Tucked away off of a busy street in Yorba Linda is this absolutely wonderful French Bistrot. My husband and I began our meal with the butternut squash soup, which was absolutely amazing; all kinds of flavors going on. Then we had the rack of lamb. This was the most incredible lamb that I have ever eaten in any restaurant! We ordered the lamb medium; it was perfectly cooked and was so tender that it practically melted in our mouths. Added to these already wonderful flavors, the sauce was another mouth-watering addition. A perfect meal. The wine list was small, but just enough. The atmosphere was classy French, but not overdone. Bistro Massilia will definitely become a frequently visited restaurant by our family.

A small intimate restaurant. The food is delicious! Looking for Escargots? One of the few around serving them and made perfectly! Food is very well seasoned and not drowning in sauce, just the perfect amount for flavor. Can't wait to return!

Bought a $82 living social deal for $41 and when we got there we found out the fixed price dinner was really $88..okay that's deceptive, no wonder it was dead on a Saturday night. The bread was good but what you would expect at a French restaurant. The French onion soup was good but a little salty for my taste. The escargot were good slathered in butter. The wine selection by the glass or bottle as extensive though pricy for a "glass" that was half the size of a normal wine glass Then only filled up half way. The trout was cooked well with lots of butter, tender yet firm. The Coq Au Vin was excellent. Chicken was nice and juicy, very rich and full bodied. The mousse was average.

Bistrot Massilia is located in a quiet part of Yorba Linda and is an authentic French restaurant, including a French staff and owner. The menu is filled with French items, some of which I've not seen before. It's interesting and pleasant to try out the various offerings. All that my wife and I have tried are quite good. The staff is pleasant and capable. We'll go back.

found it while looking for a French place nearby on open table. We were delighted to see they had patio dining and it was a lovely day. Everyone ate..no talking as it was too good to stop. We have told friends about this place and they loved it too. It is casual scene and a great brunch place or place to hold a private party. can't wait to go back

We have been to this restaurant for dinner & a wine dinner, about 5 times and it is consistently excellent. Since the demise of other French restaurants in Orange County due to decline in quality or closing, we were ready to give up until Bistrot Massilia opened. Everything that we have had, the escargot, salads, seafood and poultry entrees and desserts have been terrific. We even had a meal delivered to our house one evening and it was equally enjoyable. The servers & chef-owner go all out to make the customer enjoy the meal and want to come back. There is a pianist on Friday and Saturday and this adds to the ambiance. We don't go to brunch except on rare occasions, but will try this place soon. Look forward to our next visit.

My wife and I were about the first people there for a 6:30pm Saturday night seating. I ordered the mussels and was told they were out. We carried on, with my wife ordering one of the specials thay were offering - Black Cod. When we were served I was over whelmed by the odor, and could not even eat my meal. The fish was a gellatinous mass of goo. When I brought the odor to the attention of the server he argued that fish should smell this way. . My wife decided on the duck instead. The response.."Oh, we are out of duck"... We went to Kelly's to get a beer. Happy anniversary Honey!

The salmon melted in your mouth and if you're an escargot lover, they are delicious in garlic sauce. The keyboard player (Patrick) met all of our requests and greeted us at the table during his break. We'll definitely go back.

The decor needed some help. Nothing says out of place like a ceramic chicken near your table. While our waiter was kind, he seated us at the only booth that didn't have adequate space, as one side was chairs, and a table behind those chairs, rather than a booth. There were only four tables occupied, which left the rest of the restaurant empty...so no idea why we were there. We had to track the waiter and bartender down a few times, even though our waiter was there folding napkins at another table. Aside from that, the food was delicious. The duck was PERFECTLY cooked, and my fathers fish was quite good as well. The ratatouille left something to be desired. But the proteins of the dish were so good it outshined it all.

Our first time and we look forward to returning soon and often. Excellent food and a place that obviously cares about their customers. It has been hard to find good French food in the area and Bistrot Massilia has that and at a fair price. They offer a good food selection and we each had a salmon special with scallops and mussels along with 3 delicious sides. Also, shared an escargot appetizer, it is offered in 2 sizes, and a tomato and goat cheese salad. Good wine choices at reasonable prices also. We chose the 3 item dessert to share, creme brulee, chocolate mousse and a profiterole. All delicious and with good tasting coffee. Will be back soon.

A French Bistro in name only. The menu was limited and offered little actual French cuisine. It was telling that the cheese plate was served cold, with no french cheese and the waiter didn't know which cheese was which. One of side dishes was Polenta! We have been to France, (every region) over fifteen times in past thirty years. Not once did I see or learn of Polenta on the menu. The live piano player didn't know one French tune. On the positive side, the waiter was very nice.
