Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent food and service, except for a young guy, his tone was rough amd not attentive. Everybodyelse was extremely nice. Food was delicious, unfortunately the dessert was very bad compared to the standard expected. It turns me off such a nice food and bad dessert."

  • "Great, affordable French food at its best. Menu is not complicated or confusing. GREAT wine list, and very friendly, professional service. A neighborhood gem!"

  • "Have eaten here before but this meal was one of the best ever...a chicken dish with coconut milk, curry, lemongrass...like a chicken stew with the most delicious sauce...will go back to this neighborhood restaurant Again soon."

  • "This was recommended by neighbors...finally met out of town friends for brunch...will return again and again and again!"

  • "Moved away from DC in 2011 and always return to Bristot Lepic whenever we're back in town. Fabulous food, great wine list (and reasonably priced), with a very friendly neighborhood vibe. Perfect for a special occasion or for just a pleasant night out. Live jazz a couple of times a week."

  • "Wonderful, romantic, enchanting lounge. The ambience, food, and music are all good. It is a little tight, but what the heck. Adds to the character."

  • "Authentically French with a friendly staff. This was a good pick for my wife and I; just a simple night out for the two of us, without the kids. The food was quite good. Because of the restaurant's relative small size, it was a little loud, but not too bad. There is a nice bar/lounge on the second floor, but I didn't know about it until after dinner, when I went exploring for the restroom. If you want a quiet place to talk, head upstairs. All in all, a very good experience; I would return if in the area."

  • "Although I'd been to Bistrot Lepic for dinner, I figured I'd try it out with a friend for Saturday brunch. When we arrived at 11:15, the restaurant was pretty empty, but our wait staff was super friendly and service was efficient. My friend had the Poached eggs with spinach and crabmeat and I had the three-egg omelet. We also shared an order of fries, which were fantastic! Food was fresh, seasoned perfectly and the fresh bread was wonderful. A great brunch and we'll return!"

  • "Another great dinner, recently replace their chef, the food is consistently very good! Dinner specials like Soft Shell Crabs were outstanding, always a wonderful dinner-"

  • "If you are looking for authentic French cuisine, this is the place. Bistrot Lepic is among our favorites. It is a bit outside the Georgetown hustle, but well worth the hike up Wisconsin Avenue. We usually enjoy the upstairs wine bar; this time we opted for the downstairs dining room. The menu has some unusual items (the tarte à l'oignon appetizer is always special, and we really enjoyed the joues de veau braisées this time). The wine list has a good range of French selections. The service is friendly. Tables are rather close together, but that's part of the French charm."

  • "We love this restaurant and have been there many times and never been disappointed. The food is always delicious, the service is knowledgable and good and the wine list is good and affordable. The upstairs wine bar is very attractive and a good place to meet for a pre-dinner drink. "

  • "I've been coming to Bistrot Lepic for many years and it never fails to disappoint! It is always fantastic, and the food is always innovative and exceptional. The service is attentive but not overbearing--just right. One of my all time favorite places!"

  • "Met an old friend for a catch-up dinner and Bistrot Lepic was perfect--quiet enough to talk but lively enough to be interesting. Service unobtrusive and no one made us feel rushed even after 2 hours at table. "

  • "Wonderful food and atmosphere. Next best thing to eating in France. This restaurant never disappoints."

  • "I recommended this restaurant as a treat for a friend after a previous exquisite dining experience(admittedly, that was several years ago). The ambience was the only positive aspect of the entire dinner. The recommended mushroom appetizer was visually unappealing & difficult to finish (mushrooms that tasted canned and think chef-boyardee for the tomato-based sauce). My entree, spring salad with grilled(george forman?) seafood, continued the downward trend, with an unrecognizable fish of the day (inedible), salmon, tasteless shrimp, and mussels substituted for scallops (I don't like mussels). Creme brulee was unremarkable. Offering this dinner as a treat was truly an embarrassment, especially when the dinner made her violently ill."

  • "Bistrot Lepic is a small gem of a restaurant on Wisconsin at S. Very unassuming from the outside, very French inside. Like finding a neighborhood bistro in France. My veal cheeks with pasta and my wife's salmon were wonderful as was the house salad. Save room for a great cream brûlée. "

  • "This is the place to take you favorite person for top notch haute cuisine. Nice setting, impeccable service and the foie gras is to die for."

  • "Spent the morning visiting the monuments and the afternoon wandering the Smithsonian. Bistrot Lepic was the perfect way to finish out the day. The Jazz ensemble was fantastic, the relaxed, cozy atmosphere was perfect. Attentive service, waitors that were familiar with the menu and could make excellent educated suggestions. Will definitely be back on my next visit to the area!"

  • "We recently decided to give this french bistrot in upper Georgetown a try, after many recommendations from our friends who live nearby. And we just love this place. Great french food, not heavy like you normally think of french food and quiet restaurant, great for conversations, etc. They have a bar setting upstairs that you don't have to make reservations for, but we love the main dining room and will come back again and again. "

  • "This is the 8th year we have had Mother's Day lunch at Bistrot Lepic (I also eat there throughout the year). A new chef and plan to elevate the restaurant's bistrot fare to fine dining are taking hold. The results are exciting. (This parallels a trend in Paris, of bistrots bringing fine dining to neighborhood-friendly locales.) The new cuisine has greater depth and delicacy. We had a starter of chilled white asparagus, balanced perfectly with a buttery but tart sauce gribiche. The quail was well cooked without being dry, complemented with spring vegetables. Lepic's other fundamentals - warm but pristine service; breezy, colorful decor - remain the same but the new cuisine deserves new attention."

  • "I took my mom here the Saturday before Mother's Day as she was visiting for the weekend. We shared a bottle of Beaujolais and we each decided to have the lobster bisque - unequivocally delicious. I want to call every day to see if they have it as the special again so I can come eat it! She has the crevettes & I had the fish special; we shared. The crevettes were a bit salty but deliciously cheesy. My fish was satisfactory, although I loved the leek/tomato soup/sauce. I had the ile flottante (was better last time) and she had the creme brulee (loved it). Felt I had a better experience this time than my first visit (less ignored, shared laughs with the server/owner) and I will certainly return, if only for the lobster bisque!"

  • "I hadn't been here for a long time as I moved from Washington to Maine. Three of us came for lunch and thought it was fabulous. I especially appreciated that they let me have half glasses of wine. My only criticism was the mint chocolate ice cream seemed store bought. On the whole it was a fabulous meal. The service was generous, unpretentious and professional. Very much on a par with good french foodyou would get at a Brasserie or Bistro in France. Thank you so much. We will be back. I am so glad you are still there."

  • "Wonderful place to listen to Jazz on Wednesdays, good French Food, tucked away in Georgetown..."

  • "We were seated upstairs in the back because the restaurant was brimming that Monday evening. Very cozy, and may have been romantic had my dining partner been my wife and not a co-worker of the same gender. Food was very good, and having the option of a half-sized bottle was perfect as he does not "drink". A jazz band was playing as we were leaving, and its too bad we did not know about that amenity at Bistro Lepic. I need to return to have another taste of this wonderful establishment."

  • "We met with out-of-town friends for Sunday brunch and had a wonderful experience. The food and services were excellent, as always. The ambiance was just right."

  • "The food was so-so, half of our party didn't want to finish their food and the tuna in the Tuna and Crepe was not fresh. The deserts were also disappointing."

  • "Lovely dinner, thanks - our out of town guests from New York enjoyed it a lot. "

  • "We have been going to Bistrot Lepic for many years and have always found it very good to excellent. In particular we went there a few months ago and it was terrific. Wine, food, ambience were all first rate; the place was filled with happy people and it made for a celebratory experience. But this time the food was uneven - mostly tasteless. Perhaps the Chef had an off night, but.....?"

  • "This is a good restaurant out of the hustle and bustle of the centre of Georgetown. Located on a pleasant street to walk along. Good choice of food, well prepared at a reasonable price."
    Dined on 4/27/2014
  • "This is one of Washington's oldest French restaurants and it continues to deliver high quality, reasonably priced bistro food. Service was excellent, despite a very crowded dining room. There are ample menu choices and we sampled several of them; all quite good. My only concern - one that seems to be happening in more and more restaurants - is a wine list that tends to middle and high end wines."

  • "We had a fabulous 60th birthday party for my wife, joined by two close friends. Our dinners were perfect, the service was outstanding and the ambience was warm. We unequivocally recommend Bistro Lepic."

  • "We enjoyed a nice, quiet lunch, on a weekday. The food was very good, as always, and our service was very comfortable."

  • "Had an enjoyable dinner here - two couples (4 people). About 200 clams before wine or tip. The foie gras (appetizer) was outstanding. The duck confit was nice, tasty, but not earth shattering. The deserts also fell into this category. The atmosphere is nice. The wait staff very polite. Some interesting (and older) wines available on the wine list. "

  • "The hostess was warm and inviting; the bread was warm and delicious; the tuna was outstanding; the chicken was delicious; the service was good, but a bit indifferent. We had a great meal."
