A word from Bistrot La Minette
Bistrot La Minette is the realization of Chef Peter Woolsey's dream that began a decade ago during his earliest days studying in France: to create a restaurant that would share his love of the authentic bistrot experience with his fellow Philadelphians. Chef Peter pays great respect to the traditional dishes that he creates and honors the classical French methods required to achieve unparalleled bistrot cuisine. Both savory and pastry menus are ever evolving to reflect the seasons, the availability of the best ingredients and the inspiration of the chef. They are drawn from the various regions of France and the multitude of delicacies that each has to offer. The service is both efficient and warm, rooted in a foundation of hospitality and caring for our guests. Our goal is for Bistrot La Minette to be accessible to all guests that enjoy superb food and wine, and the company of their companions: hoping to evoke their best memories-or dreams-of traditional French bistrot dining.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "A family of three adults celebrated a birthday for our first visit to this restaurant. It was a Friday night, the restaurant was moderately busy. We all tried different appetizers and entrees, and were pleased without exception. The bar is good and there are many excellent and unusual cocktails available; if you know your wine, then I would suggest that you order a bottle, rather than a glass - selection and quality could have been better. Service throughout was polite and attentive without being overbearing, and the staging of the food was spaced perfectly. A very enjoyable evening. I would return and recommend to others."

  • "This is a wonderful restaurant, and not just by Philly standards. This would be a wonderful restaurant in any town. Obviously, this is French bistro. However, the restaurant is a little more ambitious than just a traditional bistro, pushing the borders of the menu a little bit. It's not unfrench at all; it's just a bit more than your basic bistro. What really sets Bistrot La Minette apart, however, is it's level of executive. The technique is perfect. The dishes all came out just right. The balance of ingredients and flavors, the presentation, the the textures. Everything. Just an incredibly high level."

  • "The menu was brief but fantastic - it made it hard to choose. But everyone's choice was superb. We were left alone to chat but were never neglected. When asking the waitstaff for suggestions, they were helpful and thoughtful. Now that I've been there with the girls for lunch, must go back for date night!"

  • "My husband and I came to Philadelphia for a conference and each night we had to take people out to dinner. We researched a lot of restaurants because we wanted to take people to really good establishments. Bistrot was the third of the four restaurants we went to and it was the very best--La Croixe, Parc, and Farm and the Fisherman we good, but not great like Bistrot. Every course was excellent and the wine list had wines that really complimented the food. I loved the cold pea soup with mint and fois gras. My husband said his trout was about the best he had ever had. Atmosphere was urbane, but not so noisy that we had to shout. Overall, this is the best restaurant we have eaten at in Philly and highly recommend it!"

  • "Best deal in town. Sunday Prix-Fixe 4 course dinner for only $29 per person, and not the whole table needs to get the special. Its an incredible deal considering the quality and the amount of food you get for the price. Highly recommended!"

  • "First time dining here, made for a lovely evening. Very authentic French ambiance, food & wine. We will definitely come back. Would love to try brunch!"

  • "First time for dinner was great. Really has the feel of a Parisian Bistro. It was a chilly rainy night and great getaway for good food, wine and service."

  • "This is a true French Bistro and the food, service, ambiance meet the expectation. I have eaten numerous times and the food is consistently good. My favorite entrée is the trout ... done precisely as I would expect with fresh green beans. For appetizers the escargot were perfect and the green salad provided a nice balance between the other courses. Wine was priced fairly and complemented the meal. We indulged for dessert that was worth the calories."

  • "Appetizers satisfied all but dinner for three of us fell flat-only one person was enjoyed their dinner. Bartender had no personality and no interest in checking to see if our drinks were suitable. The waitress was not pleasant or unpleasant. The four of us had a great time but certainly will not return to Bistro la Minette"

  • "My husband and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary and had a lovely evening. Superb atmosphere and service! Pleasant and attentive. I had St Jacques à la Poudre de Cassis Seared scallops with crushed potatoes with parsley, chanterelle mushrooms, (so delicately prepared), Lapin Rôti à la Moutarde Mustard-braised rabbit, house-made taglietelle, rabbit jus, and Mille Feuille aux Framboises Caramelized puff pastry, vanilla pastry cream, raspberries--all delectable. My husband tried the prefixed menu special and was delighted to have a bacon, pistachio, pate loaf; scallop; duck; Gâteau Opéra Multilayered almond sponge cake, coffee butter cream, chocolate ganache, vanilla Chantilly. Go. Bon appetit!"

  • "I celebrated my birthday here with a delightful Sunday lunch. Menu choices were much more interesting than standard brunch fare. Wine poached eggs, roast chicken, duck salad were all the delicious. The deserts were fantastic. Great French bistro ambiance and attentive but unobtrusive service."

  • "When my wife and I arrived, we already had a drink and appetizer at another restaurant so we were not super hungry. We both ordered two starters each instead of having entrees. It was so good, our appetites came right back. Everything from the bread and signature mixed drinks were delicious. I had the mussel appetizer and root vegetable soup and they were great. My wife had a salad and onion tart. She loved them. Finally our deserts wee also great. I had a sampling of three home made ice creams. We booked another reservation there while we were still in be middle of our meal."

  • "This was our second visit to La Minette. We've had outstanding experiences both times and we now think it is our favorite restaurant in Philadelphia. One person in our party who lives and regularly dines in the Rittenhouse area had the pork chop at La Minette and felt that it was quite possibly the best meal he had in a very long time. Our waiter was amazing! Our water glasses were never empty. He was extremely attentive without being intrusive. We can't wait to take out-of-town visitors to La Minette. It tops anything Starr or Garces can dish out."

  • "This is one of those places that's just perfect -- romantic (yet always receptive when we bring our young daughter, aged 8, along for dinner), great food without a lot of fuss, and quiet (rare in Philly restaurants these days). Also, the food isn't some weird nouvelle cuisine -- it's genuine French food, as one would have in France (though the owner is American). It's one of those places that you pray, too, will NOT change, and so far, over the years, it hasn't. So much of the Philly restaurant scene is about hype, and Bistro la Minette is just the opposite: quality food, great service, and consistency. To customers: eat here, for sure; to the owners: don't change ANYTHING!"

  • "Loved our meal - to start, the Oeuf du Pecheur was incredible, something the waiter recommended and we would definitely order again. The mussels were cooked beautifully and the tarragon cream was out of this world. We ate every bit. For our main courses, the trout and the cassoulet were delicious. We agreed that we can only find meals like this in France, and now in Philadelphia!"

  • "I've eaten at Bistro a few times and they've been consistently excellent in every aspect of being a restaurant. The food is stellar, the service is warm and professional, and the ambience is elevated while lacking pretension. An absolute gem and a heck of a place to take your significant other for an anniversary or other milestone."

  • "Bistrot La Minette is quickly becoming my favorite place to eat in Philadelphia. A friendly staff makes you feel instantly welcomed and comfortable. Your dining experience is enhanced by the timeless, simple elegance of the decor. The menu offers enough variety to make a choice difficult. If you have visited more than once you will have trouble choosing an old favorite or trying something new. From cocktails to dessert I have never been disappointed. Looking forward to my next visit."

  • "In town for the Flower Show each year,my wife and I love the food and ambience at Bistro La Minette. The food is always good and the service always excellent. With so many good food options in Philly, there are still places you can't help going back to again and again. Go and enjoy!!"

  • "Nearly perfect, this bistro style french provided everything we needed. The food , service and ambience transformed our evening into a moment not to be forgotten. Located off the touristy South Street neighborhood, we escaped the Saturday night crowd and enjoyed a special evening. Shared space with other diners and a parking ticket are the only drawbacks for the evening."

  • "Our food was delicious (seriously, the best trout I've ever had) but would be better served as tapas. The dishes are so strong and rich--the first few bites are amazing, but by the end, you might feel unwell."

  • "We thought the food was delicious and well executed. The portions were smaller but we were full when we left. We enjoy not feeling like we have left half our dinner on the plate and have to take it home. The wine list is very good and the servers are very helpful in making a choice. The staff was excellent and the service was wonderful. We would highly recommend the Restaurant."
