A word from Bistrot La Minette
Bistrot La Minette is the realization of Chef Peter Woolsey's dream that began a decade ago during his earliest days studying in France: to create a restaurant that would share his love of the authentic bistrot experience with his fellow Philadelphians.Chef Peter pays great respect to the traditional dishes that he creates and honors the classical French methods required to achieve unparalleled bistrot cuisine. Both savory and pastry menus are ever evolving to reflect the seasons, the availability of the best ingredients and the inspiration of the chef. They are drawn from the various regions of France and the multitude of delicacies that each has to offer. The service is both efficient and warm, rooted in a foundation of hospitality and caring for our guests.
Our goal is for Bistrot La Minette to be accessible to all guests that enjoy superb food and wine, and the company of their companions: hoping to evoke their best memories-or dreams-of traditional French bistrot dining.

Excellent food and service at a fair price. Cant think of a complaint and i am a critical person. As always french food always balances borderline too much salt and butter, but that is to be expected and to be enjoyed on ocassion :)

What a find. Eclectic menu, food was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed there meal. Wait staff was great , wine list was limited but priced very well...smart move we had two bottles! I found myself in the mood for the traditional Frisee fried egg salad. Wasn't on the menu.. pleaded my case to the waiter and he said he'd ask. Delivered a beautiful salad, no complaints , no muss , no fuss. Beautifully prepared. had the Rabbit done in some sort of white wine creme with fettucine. absolutely marvelous. very well done and would back here in a heartbeat.

We have always loved this restaurant. Unfortunately, we will not return. Although the food and ambiance are excellent; there are many places to go and feel welcome. Our server was extremely arrogant and rude. It seemed as though we were wasting his time. He was ignorant and cold and did not smile or laugh the entire time. At one point, while he was talking to us, he turned completely away to shake hands with another patron. He had his back turned to our table most of the time.

Overall, a delicious feast. And I say a feast because the portions were huge and I love to eat, but could not make room for desert at the end. Best escargot I've ever had and that's compared to several plates I've had in Paris, DC, Philly etc around US. The rabbit was cooked perfectly and I just couldn't get enough of the sauce. The only thing I would suggest is that the main course could have been served hotter, because by the time I was half way eating it, the sauce got too cold. The lamb was just as good. I think we asked twice for more bread, that's just how good it was. It was cold outside and the warm bread with butter, yeah ... forget it : ) Homemade pasta etc were just as good. Service was just not as up to par as I expected, didn't do the food that was serviced, justice. I mean we did get the extra bread, and the water glasses were always full, but we tried to get our waiter's attention a few times to ask a few questions about the drink and it was close to impossible. They just kept doing their tasks and disappeared afterwards. I'm so glad we discovered this place and we're definitely going back there, specially in the spring and summer so that we can dine outside.

Authentic French Food at its best. I love great classic French dishes that are made well and present the complex flavors they are suposed to when made authentically. If you want the real thing, this is it. Best meal I have had this Fall. Highly recommend. I only wish I had room for dessert that night...another reason to make sure I go back

The food was tasty and the service good. The restaurant was full and although the noise level was lively, my dining companion and I could easily carry on our conversation. We split the beet salad to start, and even the half portion was good-sized. Following were the rabbit and the mushroom bread pudding, both delicious, and the poached pear. I will recommend Bistrot La Minette to friends.

A spectacular dinner. Poached egg with mussels in a tarragon cream sauce over toasted brioche. YUM. Frogs legs over watercress puree and white beans in butter. Delicious, the texture of the meat was succulent, and there wasn't a drop of watercress puree or a single bean left on the plate. Salmon tartar with capers and blood orange -- the juice from the blood orange just added this feint grapefruity sweetness. Foie gras two ways, seared perfectly with pistachio butter and frisee and traditional with white wine jelly, both superb. Followed up with poached pear with creme anglais and creme brulee and finished off with a plate of chocolate truffles to celebrate another year. Simply, the food is excellent. The cocktails are also a serious draw! Over the course of the evening we tried many, including an perfectly balanced, super-smooth Sazerac and a delicious French Manhattan (with a variety of French whiskey...who knew?) As excellent food and drink pair best with wonderful service, it is not really that surprising that Bistro la Minette is made up of a wonderful group of people. The chef came out to our table (and I think every other table during the evening). The bar tender happily told us all about the differences between bourbon and rye as we explored different cocktails. And the hostess made the entire space feel warm and welcoming. A wonderful evening!

The restaurant quickly takes you back to a bistro in France with an old world charm. Service is a bit slow but polite and helpful, a big plus. The appetizers were creative and the "egg pudding" was rich, and creamy and wonderful. The desserts were also above par, with the caramelized puff pastry out of this world. On the negative, the duck was not tender and chewy, not up to par with the rest of our choices. The salmon and the squab were both over salted, so much so that it was unpleasant.

We have traveled to France on 4 different occasions and Bistrot La Minette is comparable to the meals we had there. I particularly enjoyed the rabbit (lapin) and my wife enjoyed her chicken (poulet). The menu is somewhat pricey (for us) but OK for a special occasion. The deserts were also scrumptious.

We've dined here with friends and alone. Each course was a delight, balanced with interesting flavors and textures. The presentations were lovely. Excellent French cuisine. On a Saturday the place was crowded so there was noise, but we were able to converse--a larger group might struggle. The service was attentive. My hallmark is usually silver service, and it was spot on--except for dessert. When I tried to catch the eye of one of our servers who didn't see me, another staff member immediately came over and solved the problem.

Friend came to visit from Australia, who used to live in Philly and this was her first choice of where to go. It was my first time trying to flammenkuchen, and it will not be my last. We had an awesome anniversary dinner here. Food was great, drinks were very good (though my one slight complaint is the Manhattan was served on watery ice and was tiny), service was excellent. Very reasonably priced. They went above and beyond to make us feel honored for our special occasion. I would absolutely return, no question.

We were visiting from Seattle, and 2 Phila friends recommended Bistro La Minette. We went there with one, and were so happy we did, especially as the next night we went to another French restaurant that was not very good. I started with the beet salad, with a citrus vinaigrette that was indescribably delicious. One of the best salads I've ever had. I had the foie gras special for a main, as I knew with the richness I wouldn't want or need anything else. Fabulous! The others had Truite Meuniere and "the chicken", and both said they were great. Unfortunately we did not have dessert, which I'm sure was also excellent. The ambiance was lovely, and quiet enough that we could talk, since we had a lot of catching up to do.

We thoroughly enjoyed our virgin trip to this restaurant and highly recommend it to others. We met another couple who had dined there at least 15 times in the last five years (their estimate). The service (Ed) was outstanding. The food was superb. The atmosphere was perfect for meeting friends whom we knew well but with whom we'd not dined in the past. For a taste of an authentic French bistro, this is the place in Philadelphia. I especially love their prix-fixe "special" menus, where they focus on either a presentation of their favorite dishes, or famous dishes of a specific region. This time, it was the "bouchons de Lyon" featuring a 5-course dinner of salad, quenelle des poisson (a kind of dumpling made out of ground mild fish, light and delicious, in creamy sauce), braised pork cheeks (like a brisket of pork) and 3 side dishes, a cheese course, and a dessert course. Their pichet of house wine is a great deal- we always do this, as it's always good, and less expensive than a bottle. The courses aren't too big; you can enjoy it all. Tables are close together, a bit noisy.

I booked Bistrot la Minette based on reviews I read and I was not disappointed! From the warm reception I received on the phone when I asked to bring a special wine to the attentive service and the spectacular food, I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We had escargot, foie gras terrine, the duck breast, and the rabbit tagliatelle. Each item was authentically country French and cooked to perfection. The ambiance was exactly as a French bistro should be - warm, inviting, and classic. I enthusiastically recommend this restaurant! Keep up the good work!

We had read good reviews of Bistrot La Minette and the experience lived up to the hype. The dishes were impeccably prepared and presented. It is based on Lyonnaise style cuisine, so if you're looking for more Parisian food, ala La Bec Fin it won't be the same. But, in some ways, it is better as it seems more homey, authentic and honest. While the decor was other worldly (i.e. very pleasant), the prices were still very terrestrial.

I had the occasion the other evening to dine with my wife at Bistro La Minette. We have had many wonderful meals here with our friends, out of town business guests, as well as romantic evenings for just the two of us.....I must admit that we were disappointed that the meal was less than what we had experienced on past occasions....Has this wonderful French Gem taken a step back since it's talented chef/owner has moved on to his new location?...The noticeable salt level of both of our entree's has increased considerably....the temperature of my entree was barely warm, and had to be returned to the kitchen for some heating.....the service remains impeccable, but sadly the food has slipped a notch!
