A word from bistronomic
At Bistronomic, enjoy modern cuisine rooted in French culture that showcases ingredients from Midwestern farms. The restaurant, whose name is a combination of three words: bistro / gastronomy / economic, is Chef Martial Noguier’s long-time dream come to fruition; to create a contemporary bistro that is both approachable and affordable.

Bistronomic’s delicious menu items – composed from seasonal, local, and sustainable ingredients – include expertly prepared items like Martial's Mother's Homemade Country Pâté, Seared Diver Scallops, and the Filet Mignon au Poivre.

The fully stocked bar features imported spirits and an assortment of cocktails. Many of the French and Californian labels are available by the glass.

A table for up to 14 is available on Friday and Saturday nights in a semi-private room. Guests may order from the a la carte or prix fixe menus.

The restaurant is family owned and operated as part of the LM Restaurant Group.

  • "Excellent food with great presentation and attentive service. The place seemed a bit dark and slow but perhaps that was the day we went. Still, the place could "liven it up a bit more". The tartare recommendation was sublime. Overall, excellent place . . . They could do a bit more justice to the nomic portion of the name (maybe in one true daily fresh special). nonetheless, this is the genuine deal, the food is indeed very good."

  • "Went there for brunch with my girlfriend, and we had a very good experience. My only complaint would be the inconsistency in the service provided. There were times where the server came a little too often, and then others where he simply disappeared. However, other than that, the experience was very pleasant. Good food, good mimosas, outdoor seating is pretty nice, and not overly loud."

He said welcome back & when we said we were happy to be back, it had been too long, he actually knew the last time we had been there. A nice warm feeling. Our meals were delicious and the service was impeccable. I am so happy that the quality of this restaurant has remained so good. We will make it out "go to" neighborhood place."

  • "First time for dinner - previously had lunch here. Loved it -a quiet place for conversation. The pate is very good, medium plates and large plates. Good wine by the glass - white or red. Crusty bread-yum. I had the scallops and cauliflower au-gratin, so good. My husband had the duck breast w blueberry sauce. He loved it."

  • "During our delicious meal, a lighting fitment fell on one of our diner's plates. No sooner than it had happened the wait staff and owner were at our table to clean up and with something to nibble on while the disrupted diner's plate was being re-cooked. They could not have been more apologetic and provided desserts and champagne for everyone without asking. We value a place that cares about its reputation and this chef certainly does. We'll go back as it is only a few blocks from our daughter's apartment."

  • "I just moved to the area and saw that this place had bottomless mimosas. I figured this would be my new go to brunch spot on the weekend. I came in with two friends visiting me. We had made reservations but had to wait forever to get them to set up our table (there was one other party in there). The waiter wasn't very friendly. We asked about a few items on the menu and he told us the bare minimum. We had to wave him or the hostess over several times to get a refill on our drink. Had to ask for water three times. It took 20 minutes for him to come over and get our credit card. We were going to a concert and were late because of this. I don't know what he was doing, it wasn't that crowded. Food was delicious though."

  • "went there with a party of 12 this past weekend and I knew we made a mistake when we walked in at 7:30 and the place was almost empty. service was not great, he tried but knew nothing about the menu (ingredients, how its cooked etc.). slow kitchen, over an hour for apps and taste was mediocre and underseasoned. after eating a MK, publican and sable it was a major letdown."

  • "We were out of town visitors to Chicago starting Saturday morning at the Green City Farmer's Market. A stand pairing a sustainable shrimp farmer and a young chef from Bistronomic making shrimp sandwiches led us to dinner at this contemporary French restaurant within walking distance of our hotel. The country pate, the Amazing shrimp salad with luscious watermelon rind, potato gnocchi, mussels in basil sauce, creamy chocolate hazel nut dessert were all memorable. An outstanding service team, a pleasant outdoor table with a bamboo screen that permitted street viewing without feeling on display, gave an environment to match the good food. Wine choices were plentiful without staggering prices. Will return and recommend to others."

  • "This is our second visit to Bistronomic, and we will certainly return. The service was attentive, well informed but not obtrusive. The wine list has reasonably priced varieties. We ordered the escargot which was cooked well, with just the right amount of garlic and oil. The scallops were excellent as were the steak frites and salmon entrees. The deserts were well executed. The place was surprisingly empty for a Friday evening, so it offered a good quiet place for a business dinner."

  • "My first dinner at bistronomic with my niece was so incredible that I took my husband for our anniversary. You won't get merely a meal here. The food is prepared with imagination and a wonderful mixing of flavors and textures that don't occur in even the best kitchens. The chef is an artist in both food preparation and presentation. Example: Diver scallop appetizer served with a puree of stone fruit that is amazing and beautiful."

  • "Wonderful place with innovative Country French menu using fresh ingredients. It was a lovely weekend with lots of outdoor dining. We were inside which was lovely and there were outdoor diners. There were reeds or Rattan sticking up for privacy, I guess but at first glance it looked more like an Asian place. Perhaps some Small shrubbery and flowers boxes more in keeping with a French theme."

  • "This small gold coast spot delivers wonderful french food with new American sensibilities in a casual and comfortable room. Starting with bread that any restaurant in Paris would be proud to serve, through the velvety chicken liver mousse , the lovely halibut complemented by a surprising yet perfect fennel puree, everything we tasted was perfect. Appetizers such as the duck confit salad or the scallops are large enough to serve as an entree, which has the bonus of leaving room to sample one of the tempting desserts. Informal yet careful service complements a comfortable room and great food."

  • "After spending $60+ pp, I was just not wowed by this place. We sat outside on a picturesque night so the ambience was perfect. The appetizer portions were very small for the price. I had the mussels frites for my main and it was completely bland. Friends got the lamb and both raved about it. Maybe I just ordered wrong, but there are a lot of places on my list before I'd venture back here."

  • "The food is very reasonable considering the location and it is consistently excellent. The house-made pate is delicious and the salads are fresh and satisfying. Our guests' steaks were perfectly cooked and my pork tenderloin was tender and surrounded by an interesting medley of vegetables. We were so full none of us had desserts although last time I had the baked Alaska and it was great."

  • "My husband, 14 yo son and I celebrated Bastille Day at Bistronomic. Everything we ordered was delicious. There was some confusion with the wait staff when we first arrived so we waited longer than anticipated to order. The owner/chef came to our table and gave us a complementary appetizer and the service was impeccable the remainder of the evening. Would highly recommend the steak frites and baked Alaska. The pork tenderloin special with cherries was also excellent. Will definitely return."

  • "We love eating brunch here. I had the eggs benedict and my husband, can you believe it, a hamburger. He couldn't stop raving about the burger and the duck fat fries. Absolutely yummy, stole a few for myself. The eggs benedict was prepared perfectly, crispy muffin, grilled Canadian bacon and a perfectly poached egg. I love lemon with the hollandaise so they brought my wedges. The service is always good and friendly. Fortunately they don't crank up the music so it can be noise level comfortable instead of blaring like most restaurants."

  • "I enjoyed dining at Bistronomic, but I wouldn't say it was GREAT. The menu was appealing and I could have ordered a number of items. Because of the holiday weekend, it was a little slower so I expected great service. I thought the service from the "back waiter" was phenomenal and the fact that the chef personally greeted guests was impressive. My server, however, was just sorta "meh." He seemed to lack personality and didn't really try to make a connection. He just took orders, basically. Maybe that's just me, though. I prefer a server who makes recommendations and tries to get to know the guest. The food was good. I wouldn't recommend the pea veloute, but my pork tenderloin was perfectly cooked and dessert was fantastic."

The food was amazing - we have always been fans of Chef Bacle and the quality of ingredients, preparation and presentation were outstanding. Wine by the glass is a bit limited.   • "We had a birthday surprise and needed to extend our meal to 3.5 hours. They were so accommodating and kind and I was so grateful for that. We had cocktails outside and watched the street traffic and then came inside for dinner. There were families with kids which was nice to see. The lamb was delish! Bread was great. Tartare and scallop appetizers were wonderful. Interesting and fabulous desserts - hazelnut goodies, profiteroles, creme brulee."

  • "We give bistronomic & Executive Chef Martial Noguier our highest recommendation. Every menu item is excellent, which puts us in a quandary at every visit. We can't decide between the tuna tartare, escargot with mushroom duxelles, diver scallops seared with stone fruit puree, foie gras, beet salad or the fish soup with mussels & saffron aioli. Then we toss a coin between the rack of lamb, the amish chicken or the halibut. To close? Again, how do you decide between the cherry financier, the lemon tart or the baked Alaska? Needless to say, we blissfully walk out gorged every time wondering why we didn't try this or that. And to round out our special experience? A visit every time at our table from Martial or his charming wife Laurence. Bravo!"

  • "We went with friends for dinner. The escargot with the mushroom duxelle on the bottom are out of the world. I love to soak up the sauce with the lovely French bread they deliver before dinner. Three people had salads, one beet and the others kale, radishes and many other items. They all loved them. The pasta for the night was a French twist on chicken ravioli. Our guest couldn't stop moaning and saying, "Boy this is good." One person had the walleye pike and loved it. I had the half chicken, done perfectly and wondefully flavorful. We love this restaurant. Our server, Ken, is always there when you need him and doesn't bother you when you don't. We like some of the changes to the new menu with the new chef."

It's very difficult to manage those opposing forces, and Bistronomic is the sort of place I'd feel 1000% comfortable entertaining an important client, or slipping away to for a casual dinner alone right down the street from me.   • "We have eaten here many times and the food is always outstanding. It is a bistro but not just steak frites, coq au vin or your ordinary bistro fare. The menu reflects innovation on the part of Chef M. Noguier, who always comes up with a twist to make the food extraordnary. And the prices are quite affordable!! Don't miss this place."
