Diner Reviews
  • "We have eaten here many times. Over the last 6 months everything has become less enjoyable. We were there Fri and the hotel was having several functions, They obviously took almost the entire restaurants staff and used it for functions. We would have been better off at a diner. They have hit bottom. Never again."

  • "Great food. We had sweet potato soup, salad, NY strip steak, orchiette, even side dishes were very tasty. Kind of stingy on the glass of wine though. Service was excellent, attentive but not hovering. We had a great time. We also had a coupon to lower the cost some.Would definitely go back again if we had a coupon. Without it, we'd have to think twice .Prices weren't outrageous, but were a bit high."

  • "I purposely chose this restaurant because i will be hosting an event at the Doubletree in November and I wanted to taste the food. This was hotel dining at it's best. Dinner was delicious!"

  • "My husband and I ate at Bistro Z during the evening on a Saturday night. The ambience was romantic, the food was delectable and the servers were quite attentive. The next morning we had the breakfast buffet. We chose to have the complete buffet with cold and hot items. The variety of cereals, fruits and breads was quite good. All the hot food items in the buffet as well as the made-to-orders at the table were amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "This week, my wife and I have been to 5 lunches for Hudson Valley Restaurant week. This was by far the tastiest. Excellent soup, wonderful stuffed chicken, and a tasty/weird dessert. We looked at the regular menu and we were not overly impressed. Our very old Zagat's rated this place a 20. We have just eaten at several 24+ and this was clearly better. How much information can one glean from a single data point. I don't know, caveat emptor. We're going to return"

  • "We definately did not enjoy our experience at this restaurant. Our Waitress was not very pleasant seemed like she didn't want to be there. Food was cold and tasted like it was reheated..Don't expect to return ever and have advise friends of same."

  • "Very comfortable dining area with great service and ambitious hotel food."

  • "It looks like a hotel off the highway & it is a hotel off the highway. Sad decor. Locals should never go here. No charm. If you must have some food during your trip -- an easy on/off and pleasant enough."

  • "Food was well prepared and delicious, however it feels like you're in a hotel and not a restaurant. Wait staff was nice, but not very attentive especially since it's far from crowded. I would go back for the food."

  • "although it's in a hotel, which is a little weird , the food was surprisingly good. We saw business associates, hotel guests and locals at this restauraunt. We sat right by the fireplace...made for a cozy dinner with our 1.5 year old."

  • "I visited on Valentine's day. its was a last minute change and I wanted a place where it would be a good setting but not crowded or loud because it interferes with the socializing of the other people you may be with. they were very accommodating as I arrived late and they still sat us down. service was excellent. they are attentive and is focused making sure you are pleased with everything. my date ordered a steak and it was slightly over cooked and they kindly made a fresh plate all together cooked to the proper temperature which is great. tho it was late and they were closing, we did not get the feel of being rushed out. as prior reviews, tho it may be in a hotel, it is a great restaurant to visit. wouldn't mind going back"

  • "Food was great, it was on Valentine's Evening. Service a bit slow, but got much better during the evening. Food was very well don, to our complete satisfaction. Wine was very good! The place was a bit pricey, for us anyway. I would definitely go there again!!"

  • "Although hotel restaurants are not noted for food, Bistro Z is the exception. We ordered French Onion Soup and a Baby Beet Salad for starters and then had the Halibut and a Beef Tenderloin /Shrimp as entrees. The soup was as good as any we had had in Le Halles years ago, the Halibut as good as we had in Nova Scotia and the Tenderloin as good as a Filet in any steakhouse. The waiter brought extra shrimp as he thought the plate was missing another one. We also had a delightful Malbec to go this dinner. We would even go back just for the French Onion for lunch."

  • "Well some people might be put off by the fact that this is in a hotel, they should definitely give it a try! My friend and I were not staying there but we're treated like guests of a very elite place. Staff were pleasant and accommodating. The food was excellent and the dinner menu looked even better. I will go out of my way to go back here."

  • "We went on a Sunday night for dinner. There were only a few other tables occupied so it was nice and quiet. We sat by the fireplace and had a very good meal and the service was excellent."

  • "The hotel and restaurant had created a very romantic and warm holiday atmosphere. The food was plated beautifully. My only request would have been to add the spices to the table for the aioli and bread. The servers were more than happy to answer any questions regarding the menu and beverage selections. Very friendly and courteous."

  • "Food was okay. Service not so much. Convenient if you are staying in the hotel, though Tarrytown has so much more to offer."

  • "The regular pricing is comparable to some higher end steak house types of restaurants. However the happy hour and special for the evening are both very cost efficient. The quality of food is definitely worth it. We enjoyed half off glasses of wine as well as beer. We also enjoyed half off of the starters, which were by no means shabby. Fantastic night."

  • "Continues to be one of our very favorite occasion restaurants. Treat us well and we come back over and over again. A great place if you want to be able to have a conversation. Food is consistently excellent, but some preps have a lot going on. Sometimes simple is better."

  • "Recently I have been trying out a variety of hotel restaurants in Westchester and find that they are never crowded, have great food, reasonably priced wine and nobody rushes you out so the next group can be seated. Bistro Z is a keeper and I will go back again and again."

  • "Ordered lamb chops & fish. The chops were tender & delicious. The fish was also delicious, but I had specifically asked for a very mild sauce. It was far too spicy making it necessary to send the fish back to the kitchen to "tame" it down. We especially enjoyed the warm muffins & even had seconds . We'll be back!"

  • "Bistro Z is inside the Double Tree Hotel in Tarrytown, NY. It is very nicely appointed and very comfortable. The staff is welcoming and friendly and knowledgeable of their menu. It is not an extensive menu but there is something for everyone. They have a great breakfast buffet which lets you order from their menu as well. Their Gluten Free Pancakes are very good. Their lunch and dinner menus have really nice appetizers and entrees which change with the seasons and include some local and organic ingredients. Their wine list is fairly extensive with a full bar as well. Whenever we are in Tarrytown, we try not to miss Bistro Z."

  • "This is not a destination restaurant. Shrimp and scallops were over cooked. Beef tenderloin was very good. While service was good it was barely so."

  • "We had several appetizers. The mushroom ravioli was fantastic, as was the jumbo shrimp. The crab cake was a bit oily. The Osso bucco was fabulous as a special and the apple tart dessert was yummy. For a place inside the hotel you very impressed With the food. Will definitely be back!"

  • "Bistro Z is a very good restaurant inside the Double Tree Hotel. They serve breakfast, lunch, & dinner. We have had all three of those meals there and they have all been very good. They have an excellent breakfast buffet including lox and bagels as well as beautiful fresh fruits, cereals, hot items, etc. or you can order off the menu. Their lunch and dinner menus are small but with more than enough choices to satisfy any diner. They have a very nice wine menu too. Their main room is nicely appointed, comfortable with a nice fireplace and décor. Their staff is very friendly and welcoming and very attentive."
