A word from Bistro Toulouse
Bistro Toulouse brings the Parisian experience to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. We offer modern interpretations of classic regional French dishes, fine wines and cocktails in a newly renovated space in the Sea Island Shopping Center. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting featuring a large granite bar, natural wood décor, soft colors and lighting, eye catching art work and great music.
We use fresh, high quality ingredients prepared with sensitivity and care. Our dishes include French bistro classics, seasonal specialties and daily specials to showcase the creativity of our culinary team.
What pairs better with great food than great wine? Bistro Toulouse offers wines that complement our cuisine. Our focus is on French varietals and traditional styles of production, though we offer wines from all over the globe, including 18-20 selections by the glass. Our seasonal house cocktails include creative beverages made with our own infused liquors and syrups.

  • "We had a wonderful dinner and thoroughly enjoyed Bistro Toulouse. The service was great, the food was wonderful and will definitely return again soon."

  • "Started with escargot(very good-not great). My wife had the French onion soup(good flavor and cheese-too much bread and not enough onions in the soup). Main courses-duck was cooked perfectly, flounder as well. Desert-dark chocolate soufflé-best I've ever had. Very good quality=bring pocketbook."

  • "this was our second trip to Toulouse. It's a terrific addition to the Mt. Pleasant, and Charleston area, offerings. Excellent menu, quite good food, reasonable wine list. Highly recommend."

  • "This is my second time dining here and it was a more pleasant experience than my first visit since we went early on a Sunday evening and it was not noisy as was the case previously. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and very helpful. The steak/frites and arugula salad were outstanding as before. My husband had the onion soup and duck entree and was very pleased with it. We shared a lavender creme brulee which was rich and satisfying. We'll be back!"

  • "What a jewel! I felt like I was in Paris! Good service, great menu selection and excellent food."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Bistro Toulouse and heartily recommend it to those who appreciate French bistro dining. The food was delicious and the waitress very knowledgeable. The menu is spot-on for those of us that love visiting France, even if it means just for a cozy dinner down in Mt. P!"

  • "Te food was fantastic and people were so very nice. We will be back. We had four different meals and all were exceptional."
    Dined on 8/6/2014
  • "The food was creatively prepared and delicious. Everyone at the table had something different and my fish atop spinach and white beans was outstanding. We happened to be there on a Wed. when all bottles of wine were discounted $10...a special surprise!"

  • "Our food was not cooked as ordered. They did offer to remedy, but our server let her feelings be known. She was really annoyed with us for our complaint. Not a good experience! Probably won't return. There are too many great restaurants in the area to bother with this one again."

  • "We are consistently impressed with the food and service at this neighborhood gem!"

  • "The food was delightful and delicate. I cannot go on about the foood enough. Each course was a celebration of how talented this chef is. Sauces are a wonderful addition not a cover up. I wanted to try everything on the menu. The veal just melted in your mouth. Service was outstanding. This restaurant is truly a hidden treasure. We had dinner on aSaturday night with friends and enjoyed it so much that we made reservations and came back on Sunday for brunch. We were as pleased as the night before. This is a " don't miss" restaurant and you will become a regular."

  • "Third time eating here and food was excellent and service beyond expectations."
    Dined on 7/24/2014
  • "The food and service were excellent and the restaurant was quiet at the six o'clock hour thank goodness. I avoid loud restaurants in which one can't have a reasonable conversation. I look forward to returning to Bistro Toulouse."

  • "Actually, quite good. Menu provides variety, extremely we'll presented, & served by attentive, congenial staff. I plan to return."
    Dined on 7/22/2014
  • "The food is good but not exceptional. To improve overall quality, attention has to be given to sauces, seasoning, and for certain dishes, the mode of preparation. For example, duck has to be "crisped" All of this is possible if done deliberately without radical, rushed changes. For a neighborhood restaurant, they have a good base."
    Dined on 7/17/2014
  • "First time I had lunch there, very good, nice menu...excellent sandwiches & wine list is good. Will be back."

  • "Decided to give this fairly new restaurant a chance even though we usually frequent the restaurants on the peninsula as I read that the food was good and prices fair. We (four of us) loved the food. We had not one single complaint! Onion soup was great, not too salty, muscles seasoned in a great broth, bread was great (especially for dipping in the muscle broth), fresh fish preparations were as good as I get in New Orleans and rarely experience in Charleston. Definitely will go back. My only worry is that it's tucked out of the way in a shopping center in Mt. Pleasant, not very noticeable or impressive from the outside. The inside is very cozy and attractive. It wasn't very busy when we were there for an 8:00 reservation. Hope it lasts!"

  • "With the unfortunate closing of La Forchette, The Charleston area was left with a void in quality French food. Bistro Toulouse fills the void with high quality food, notably the Duck and Snapper. It would be hard to match the intimate decor of La Forchette, yet the dining area is comfortable with a welcoming bar. Escargot was very good and they have a nicely balanced wine list; thankfully mostly French."

  • "Recently, I have noticed several new restaurants in Charleston touting French cuisine. I have tried some and heard not so good about others. My wife and I enjoyed a quiet Saturday Brunch in MP at Bistro Toulouse over the weekend and cleaned our plates. A friend had recommended the place recently and we decided to try it. We shared an excellent French Onion Soup and she had the quiche and salad plate, and I had the Cobia special. I am certain the other choices we did not select would have been authentic and equally delicious. It is not an inexpensive place to dine, but it's French! Classic cuisine like this takes time and technique to get it right and is worth the price of admission. Bon Appeitit!"

  • "I had never been to this restaurant but really liked the menu, so I took my friends visiting from out of town. There were. 7 of us, and everyone ordered a different entree. They were all amazing. The location leaves something to be desired but the food is awesome."

  • "After a very enjoyable and delicious first visit to Bistro Toulouse, we returned hoping for a repeat and were not disappointed! My husband enjoyed the mussels and duck, I had the French onion soup and steak frites. Both were excellent. This time we saved room for dessert - soufflé and crepes - both delicious. Great spot in Mt Pleasant, nice to have a fine dining choice among the more casual places along Coleman."

  • "We had the crepes and mussels. Both lacked sauce and flavor. On a positive note, we liked our server and had a great bottle of Picpoul."

  • "Recommended by some friends, we decided to give it a try. The last several times I have ordered duck at other restaurants (Magnolis's was one of them), I was extremely disappointed. Our waitress encouraged me to try Bistro Toulouse's duck. It was fabulous! It restored my faith in duck. My husband tried the wreck fish (one of the specials) and he raved over how good it was. We shared the apple tart with caramel ice cream. What a wonderful way to end the evening!!"

  • "In a comfortable, well appointed setting, with professional waitstaff attentively serving you can enjoy perfect renditions of classic French fare. The charcuterie and cheese platter was an excellent appetizer, and a huge serving with all the accompaniments for country pate'. The triggerfish entree was prepared well, and tarte normande for dessert completed a very good meal. It was nice to see the chef out in the dining room early in the evening before it got busy."

  • "Our group of 4 dined on July 4th and it was very quiet understandably so but gave us a good chance to relax and enjoy. All of our selections were very good, no complaints and good to find something different than the usual seafood everywhere. Service was excellent. I would highly recommend this place for a change during your vacation week and if I lived there I would be a regular."

  • "My party and I had dinner on Wine-Wednesday...It was good, but not fabulous. It was also empty at 6:30. I had a small bowl of french onion soup...$9.00 and it was just okay! The beet salad, also $9.00 was really a tiny portion. The duck and mussels were good. I would not return in the near future, only because there are too many other restaurants to choose from in Mt.Pleasant."

  • "You might not be tempted to enter based on the location in a strip mall but don't let that distract you. The food is very good, very French and the wait staff charming and friendly. We went for brunch and now will have to try dinner."

  • "Great addition to local restaurant scene. Very good menu, something for everyone. Wonderful flavors, preparation & presentation. Goood portions & reasonable prices. Mt Pleasant, please support this gem of french dining in an elegant casual atmosphere. Nice bar. Really friendly efficient service. They accomodated our large group with open arms. Go!"

  • "This is our new favorite restaurant. We've been there for dinner, lunch and also weekend brunch. Each time we go we're delighted by the quality selection, presentation and flavors. Obviously, the chef is very talented. The wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly. And to top it all off: the prices are reasonable."

  • "This is the second time that my husband and I have eaten here. Our second experience was very consistent with our first. The food is great, service timely and friendly and the wine list sufficient. It is great to have a quality bistro around. We will be back again!"

  • "Fabulous evening, although the noise level was quite high. Service and food were superb and wine list delightful. This was an anniversary celebration and the entire staff were gracious with their congratulations. We look forward to returning often."

  • "Two friends and I had a good dining experience here although I was disappointed in the noise level in the place which made conversation a bit difficult. Two of us had the hanger steak which was very tasty but a bit tough. It was served with absolutely delicious frites and an arugula salad. The third diner in our party had mussels which she very much enjoyed. Our server was attentive and helpful with menu items although initially we felt a bit rushed. I would eat there again."

  • "A very good go-to neighborhood restaurant where the food and service is white tablecloth caliber, but without the tablecloth! Strongly recommend it."

  • "After our first visit, we've been back again and again. This place never disappoints. The chef is very creative and competent and the wait staff are friendly and helpful. My husband is always looking for fresh fish that has been cooked well. He found it here. I like the French specialties: gougeres (little puffs of Gruyere heaven) and the Croque Monsieur. Try the fries. They'll spoil you for all others. Oh, and great wine list too."

  • "We were at BT once before. The food was v. good, fresh and French bistro like fare was offered on the menu. I had the duck breast...it was done right. The second visit was equally good. Fish of the day on a bed of au gratin. Fresh green beans. Good fresh, simple fare but done right. No convoluted concoctions with too many ingredients. My husband had the veal. we will definitely return and recommend B Toulouse. Hope they keep up the high standard that we have experienced and keep it interesting for returning customers by having specials that are a variation from the regular menu. Chapeau!"

  • "The restaurant has great service, a good menu, and good food. However, the large TVs are distracting and make the atmosphere feel more like a sports bar rather than a cozy French Bistro."
    Dined on 6/11/2014
  • "My wife ordered duck.It was so salty that she requested another plate. It was not fit to eat.The waitress Dawn really had no interest in her problem but did bring another duck dinner that was better. Her starter was over cooked and not good. The manager wasn't that interested in my wife's problem either. My veal was not very good . Our first two experiences were good. Will probably not go back."
