this restaurant offers a variety of French dishes, not just from Toulouse but from other of France either, like the bouillabaisse which was very good. The dish to try is definitely the Cassoulet (what Toulouse, the town, is known for), which was very good. Good selection of charcuterie like homemade patés and rillettes. The chocolate soufflé is a must. The wine list was a bit steep but we had a good red wine from Languedoc for $38 which everyone loved.

The service was outstanding! The decor and ambience of the restaurant is welcoming and intimate. In so many ways this restaurant should be successful-except the food is average in a town where average restaurants don't usually make-it. It seems very fixable and I am hoping the chef will look critically at how to improve the food-for instance-a lunchtime chicken crepe was half full and the ends laid over on top. The crepe itself was rubbery and the filling was thin in taste ad ingredients. This is the second time I have eaten there or I would not have written a review. I will go back only when the location is most convenient for clients. I hope they make it-they have a great location.

Our first experience with Bistro Toulouse was an interesting contrast in wonderful and fair. First the wonderful - the service was great. Our waiter was attentive, knew the menu and helpful. Reservation was honored promptly no waiting. The onion soup and chocolate mousse were terrific. It is worth a trip just to order the onion soup and dessert. I had the duck. Big mistake. It was tough, chewy, and had plenty of gristle. Maybe that is the way duck is supposed to be as this was a step away from my usual. However, it was also bland. The vegetables were very nice. My partner had the shrimp. They were billed as spicy but also were bland - but loaded with garlic. The side was better than the main.

This was our groups first visit to Toulouse and we were were very satisfied with brunch. Staff was friendly and attentive and got us started with very good Bloody Mary's and Mimosas to that went well with our share items of Beignets, Fresh Baked Croissants and excellent Gruyere Cheese Gougeres. Crepes all around except for myself and I really enjoyed the French Toast with bourbon syrup. Sauteed Shrimp Crepes were a particular favorite. The Mussels & Frites served in a authentic mussel pot were excellent and a nice quantity and the fine bread made the dipping best of all. Will definitely be back for brunch and plan to try dinner that has been highly recommended.

We tried BT in honor of a birthday- added a special note in the reservation that was never acknowledged. We were greeted by a friendly and professional hostess, but our sever Eric (?) was less than enthusiastic. We wanted to start with an order of escargot. We were told they had run out. ( It would have been nice to know this before we got our hearts set). We ordered the mussels instead, several of which were under cooked. Our server's response to this was, "I'll kick the chef for you". Our champagne cocktails were also lukewarm. The main dishes were, however, excellent. Despite that, I won't be going back.

This is your typical location in a strip mall. Nothing Exciting. The chef is deserving of a better location for his talent as he shows quite promise. Unfortunately the lack of atmosphere and substandard waitstaff offset the talent level. i.e. they had great looking souflle's for dessert which take the typical 20 minutes to prepare. Most waiters would ask if you wanted one sometime before serving your entree, not at the end of your meal. Asking what "burgundy cream" was elicited the insightful response that it was a cream made with a recipe from Burgundy.

Love everything about Bistro Toulouse but would dearly love it if the noise level were a little less energetic. It is sometimes difficult to hear con-versation at one's table, even if the restaurant is not crowded. Know the ceilings are very high and floor is wood and walls are not covered with anything to absorb sound. However, because we love the food, service, location, management, friendly atmosphere, etc., etc., etc. the noise level will not prevent us from eating here on a regular basis.

i enjoyed my meal @ Bistro Toulouse very much- especially the cobia, which I had never eaten before. I rate it right up there with grouper, but maybe it was how they prepared it perfectly browned, just how I love fish to be cooked. It was served with lentils- very good. For dessert, I had the lavender creme brûlée, also delicious!

I took my wife for a special occasion with flowers delivered through Open Table. The sat us at a romantic corner table. Our server Matt was friendly and efficient. My wife lived in Paris for a year and we vacationed there last summer. The food at Toulouse was authentic and well prepared. The sweetbreads appetizer was subtle and tasty. We both had the veal with potato au gratin and spinach. Great meal overall. Will definitely return.

From the charcuterie (best we've ever had!) to the friendly and knowledgeable server, Bistro Toulouse was an amazing surprise for us as first time diners there. The farm to table approach produces a variety of offerings, with each being its own taste sensation. We won't be able to return until next April, but the Sunday brunch menu looks so appealing that Bistro Toulouse will be our first stop. The menu changes frequently, but I'm convinced it will be a delight every time we get to visit.

My rating is really 4+ stars. This was my first visit to the Bistro and it won't be my last. The onion soup was delicious and the veal was perfectly cooked and in a great but not overbearing sauce. The wine list wasn't expansive but our Pinot Noir was excellent and reasonably priced. The server, Walt, was excellent an attentive without being ever-present. He had an excellent knowledge of the menu and his recommendations were perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We tried Bistro Toulouse thanks to Charleston Restaurant Week, not expecting too much of a restaurant in a little strip mall. We found it friendly and delicious. Their mussel appetizer is clearly a specialty---garlicky and perfectly prepared. Both the boeuf bourguignon and the bouillabaisse were outstanding---the beef subtly flavored and very tender. Lavender creme brulée is quite simply wonderful, and my friend was delighted with the dessert cheese selection. Service and timing of the meal were both excellent. I'll definitely be going back.

An incredible find with very authentic food. I always hear that the best restaurants are the ones that are hard to find and not in the best locations. I never thought that such an exquisite place would be located where this one is. But, I'm guessing the lower rent allows them to focus their attention on the quality and affordability of the food - which I was very pleased and impressed on both fronts. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Service took a little longer than I thought it should, but I was in no rush and things do move slower in France, they don't turn tables over like they do in the US.

We've been meaning to try this restaurant and the 3 for $30 deal finally got us in. We wish had not wanted so long but there are just so many dining options it's hard to keep up.
