Have been to Tea Set a number of times but this visit didn't meet up to normal standards. Food was just mediocre and options very limited. Several items listed on menu were not available. There was a party at the bar so it was very noisy-- and made it hard to enjoy dinner. I will go again but hope this was just a one time issue and not a change in a good neighborhood reataurany

Very sweet friendly relaxed place. Service was welcoming but kitchen was very slow. Bench seating not a good fit for everybody and pillows on the old side. However their drinks are great and happy hour 2 for 1 evey night with healthy food with great vegetarian options. I would go back.

The food was fine but after the rave reviews, I expected better service. The restaurant is adorable and tiny. The menu is fine. Unfortunately, I took friends to impress and it was not good when first the drinks and then the food were somewhat delayed and our bill came before the opportunity to order dessert or coffee. Clearly, the table was needed and our business was abruptly concluded. I have fared better for $50 pp.

We have dined all over New York City, and have never been treated with as much hospitality as we were at the Tea Set. Our brunch reservation was running 10 minutes late - the host kindly offered us a complimentary bellini (which has only happened to us once ever at other restaurants with hours of waits). The staff was busy, but attentive, and the tea sample at the end was a welcome treat. Great neighborhood find for brunch and we certainly will be back.

The place is as cute as ever and I will go back, but this last time they probably should have had more than 1 waiter working for lunch. He was clearly way too busy to to do everything in a timely fashion: he was getting confused, forgetting things, etc. To his credit he was very nice and fixed things, but time in NYC may be of the essence, especially at lunch, so this is an area that this establishment can improve on.

My boyfriend and I took advantage of an offer on Open table special & I will be coming back. Service was excellent and the waiters were friendly. Food was fresh, hearty without being heavy & delicious. I loved the lamb shank. The curry chicken was not quite what I would call curry but it was also delicious. The fruit tart for dessert was perfect. Decor is sweet and cozy. The place is very small and you'll be sitting close to another party but I've only gone on a Sunday and Tuesday evening when it was not crowded so I didn't mind.

The setting and decor was quaint. My g/f and I choose the back corner where we had our privacy to catch up. The cushions and pillows were adorned with embroidery appliques and sequins. Very pleasing to the eyes. They had a good amount of teas to choose from. I had the Rooibos with peach and vanilla. Loved the aroma and there was a natural sweetness to it. We really enjoyed our appetizer: platter of 6 pieces toast with asparagus/ prosciutto, hummus & tuna mousse with capers. The Crab cakes were quite generous and the scallop sancerre risotto was also pretty tasty. The only down fall was dessert. We ordered 2 cute macaroons plate; they were itty bitty. The price was not worth it. Over all we had a great experience.

The food here is very good, tasty, healthy and inexpensive. Portions are small, but that's o.k. with me. The place is crammed with little tables, and the seating is downright uncomfortable in that village-y way that so many small restaurants in the area are stuck with due to their small spaces. Cute place. Would return if in the neighborhood but I don't think it's really a destimation spot, at least not for me.

I made reservations for a surprise birthday brunch for my wife and 17 friends and family. The last two guest was late but we have just gotten our entrees. They took their orders only for the manager to come back to tell me he could not place them. When I ask why he repeatedly said it was common sense why. My two guest said they were ok with that. I kept my cool. It didn't make sense to me why would you have two occupied chairs for the next 75 mins and refuse to generate more revenue. For a party of that many guest with a possible encore I would expect a little more respect and common sense courtesy. Never again! If you book a large group make sure you know the ignorant rules of this restaurant. Please avoid this restaurant!

It is a small place, but looks like a good spot to meet up with a friend you haven't seen in a while. I was there at 430 for dinner as I had to catch a train back into CT, so it was quiet.
