Great Find! The food was terrific and the Bloody Mary's to die for! The patio was cute, and the bluesy-jazzy band was fun and great (but just a bit loud for the area). We went at 10:30 and I can't believe it wasn't busier. Please go visit this fun, yummy place I don't want it to go away! Can't wait to go back. The Benedict was the best I've had in years and the fresh horseradish in the bloody mary, mmmm!6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat's more to want?Like the little engine that could, this is the neighborhood restaurant inauspiciously situated south of SDSU on busy El Cajon Blvd. near busy Colllege Ave. that can! It began small as a purveyor of its own great pastries which it still offers. But in every way, it's grown. The menu is inventive, the dishes consistently good and sometimes excellent, the enclosed patio dining a pleasure, the wine choices extraordinary. A variety of musicians of high quality perform nightly. The clientele is equally varied. Most important, the owner's warmth and passion for excellence permeate the atmosphere. What's more to want?5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMy lucky dayI ran a 5K on Memorial Day and won a $50 gift certificate to Bistro Sixty. I had never heard of it, nor had my husband who knows pretty much every restaurant in San Diego County. From the moment we stepped in the door I was in love. Quirky decor, great live music by Ricky Ruis, warm, attentive servers, every bite from appetizer to dessert was heavenly. One of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time and we eat out a lot!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Bistro SixtyBistro Sixty has become my favorite place to wine and dine. The food is the best. An amazing wine list and live music almost every night. The specials always change and they won't be your everyday specials. Their fish dishes are tender and flavorful. If you're a hamburger person, they have a gourmet burger to die for. Awesome chicken dishes also. A dish for all your tastes. Mark and Arturo are gems. They will make you feel like you're old friends.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat neighborhood spotWE love Bistro 60. It is one of the very few dining options in our neighborhood. A great place for food, wine, music. Oh yeah and desserts.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMFriendly peopleThe food is very good with a great wine selection. Every time that I have been there I have met fun and very friendly patrons. The owners and staff make you feel like we are all old friends. Neighborhood gem glad I stopped in.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing foodI will have to write another one since I couldn't make this round, but my friends had a lot to say about this place.
This place was highly recommended by a foodie based on the amazing flavors, quality, and quantity of the food. If you want great food at unbeatable prices, this is the place to be. Delicious food, amazing service, and great atmosphere. My friends raved about it right after the appetizers! I'll have to come here to see for myself and update this review.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a gemWhat a gem. The menu is small and everything is excellent. Very enjoyable food and nice staff. The owner is hands on and it is great.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways an enjoyable mealA favorite spot for locals we go here often for dinner. The food is very good, my wife loves the planko chicken Diane. I vary my meal on each visit and have not been disappointed. I am not a wine enthusiast but there is a large selection of wines to choose from and when I have had a glass there I enjoy it. The owner is great person who runs a nice establishment. Give it a try.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMMy salmon salad was composedMy salmon salad was composed of lightly dressed lettuce, yellow beets and blueberries topped with a grilled wild salmon filet. It was so delicious and plentiful that I brought about half home and mixed it into a salad for two. The other three diners had equally enthusiastic reports about their own salads, one curried chicken and two grilled chicken. We shared two small pistachio cakes for dessert, with a coffee and a lovely caramel cross-hatched latte, and left joyful. This is a chef and staff who make magic. Bistro sixty, what a winner!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Find !This is a recent find for me, thought they only did desserts but they have a full and varied menu and the owner is super friendly and the staff accommodating.4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMhighly recommendedWe had an early dinner, so it was quiet but very nice. Wait staff was very attentive & pleasant. We dine here regularly and so we appreciate the menu & wine specials bistro sixty offers. The lamb sausage ragu was outstanding and very nicely paired with a Syrah that was new to the wine list. We highly recommend this restaurant.4/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe ate breakfast at this restaurantWe ate breakfast at this restaurant. There was some construction noise because they are expanding. I would expect the noise level to be low for breakfast next time. The food was great and the owner is friendly.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this placeTo be serenaded by Nathan Welden's accoustic guitar and soothing voice while enjoying a fabulous meal in a festive and friendly atmosphere was over the top. We've been to Bistro Sixty a few times now and and each time we enjoy the food and the vibe even more. This restuarant is a wonderful hip addition to the neighborhood.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMBistro Sixty is a great placeBistro Sixty is a great place to have in our community. They have delicious entree choices as well as yummy appetizers. They have an extensive wine list and decadent desserts. The staff is very attentive and patient. I would say that the only possible downside is the parking situation since it's street parking only and, sometimes, you can't park nearby. I understand they are thinking about some kind of a shuttle service to address this issue and that could help to bring more people in, although the restaurant was quite busy even on a Thursday night. The live entertainment is great too!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had never been there before. We had never been there before. Food was great! Only concern was half of my friends salmon was very under cooked and there was no mention of it when clearing plates. Owner came over and was very friendly. They had a nice duet of music, but the sax was a little too loud. Ambiance could be a little nicer.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMit is an absolute must thatit is an absolute must that you try the braised pork cheeks over polenta--it is a show stopper. I was torn between that and the braised short ribs over linguine (but Nick, the server--who was great and attentive--said ask for it over penne instead--it is much better)--would also be great over the polenta--my wife had the bacon burger, with crispy bacon, the bacon jam and baconaise--it this is also a must try--very reasonable prices--the Brussels sprouts side dish was okay, they were a little to crisp and i would've preferred a bleu cheese crumble with the bacon instead of in bleu cheese dressing--they have amazing homemade desserts too--first time guests get one free i think4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOur go to spot in the College AreaWe are frequent visitors and always enjoy the culinary offerings. We have been back 6-8 times and enjoyed something different each time. We always get a friendly greeting from the owners when we arrive and the wine special on Tuesdays is a good deal.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA great neighborhood secret.A great neighborhood secret. It is a wonderful place to meet other neighbors and new people.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAt least 4.5 starsA friendly, local, neighborhood upscale restaurant like this doesn't have all the resources to be outstanding in the way Thomas Keller's French Laundry can. But, it is so much better than Very Good. Service is always friendly and welcoming, and they always save us a special table when we reserve through Open Table. They added some new things on their April menu that are very appealing. The heirloom tomato salad was wonderful as was the Corvina Sea Bass. We plan another trip next week to try more new menu items.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome atmosphere, friendlyAwesome atmosphere, friendly staff, excellent food. Great wines and desserts as well. It's the gem in the neighborhood. The live music is a wonderful addition to a relaxing and fun dinner out.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service was great,Food and service was great, desert were wonderful had great time. Had a nice dinner with the familly and still felt like a dinner date with my husband.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMCuisine ranging from adventurousCuisine ranging from adventurous to simple but always delicious in an attractive, unpretentious and welcoming setting whose tone reflects the warmth of the owner/chef and good spirits of his partner, an exciting wine list plus music ranging from blues to blue grass depending on the night -- oh, and great desserts -- Bistro Sixty is not just a find but a keeper!3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love Bistro Sixty! ThereWe love Bistro Sixty! There is always something interesting on the specials and the regular menu is wonderful! The prices are reasonable and the food is fresh! Great, friendly service!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious! Delicious! Delicious!Delicious! Delicious! Delicious! Wine suggestions were spot on. Can't wait to go back.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMWe brought my father in lawWe brought my father in law and his wife here for the first time. They usually dine in Downtown SD or even up in Rancho Santa Fe! I was a little worried they might be put off by the location...but the food and service was great and they really enjoyed it! We even booked a reservation for my father in law's 80 something birthday dinner! He is very picky about food (namely Salmon), wine, and service...so we were so glad he thoroughly enjoyed it!3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMWe're becoming regulars here...We seem to be becoming regulars here although it's 20 miles from home. Food is always great and every time we go they have new specials in addition to their regular menu, so there's always something new to try and it is always delicious. This time they had a small plate of seared ahi & avocado tacos - very simply prepared and fabulous. And, their chili verde pork was very good. They save a special table for us when we reserve through Open Table and always give a warm greeting with just the right amount of attention during the meal.2/27/2013 12:00:00 AMA real gemWe've been frequent diners here because it is a convenient and welcoming spot after for dinner after a weekly appointment nearby. The food is always great and we go home wishing we had eaten a little less or saved some for lunch tomorrow. On each visit we have had something different fro the menu - all were delicious and nicely plated. On every occasion, the chef-owner has stopped by the table for a brief visit (this may not happen during the busiest times, but we usually dine here after 8pm). We will continue to visit here regularly - it is a real gem.2/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBecoming a favoriteFor us, dinner after 8pm is a late night, so we think this is a great "Find". Atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and quiet enough to talk with your guests rather than text. We had some outstanding Ahi tacos and a very good pesto penne pasta with chicken. And, their desserts are always fabulous. Service was friendly and attentive and the chef-owner stopped by the table to chat. This was our second visit and we enjoyed it just as much as our first.2/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA great findWe dined at 8 after most of the dinner guests were gone, so the noise level was low and we received just the right amount of attention from the wait staff. Food was delicious and served very promptly. Nice choice of wines, most were above our price range. Dessert was fabulous. And to top it off the owner stopped by the table - he noticed we had an Open Table first time reservation and invited us back. We will be back.1/29/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting and tasty wineInteresting and tasty wine selections. Loved the music scene happening there, bluegrass and a few country ballads.... Also the pastry shop offerings were delectable. I will be back !1/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
