I have had exquisite prime rib at Bistro Rouge. My family has had a birthday dinner there with all meals beautifully prepared. On the other hand, I have twice tried to have a pleasant wine and share plates evening with a friend. On both occasions, the service was reluctant. The waitresses avoided serving us until flagged. They were completely helpless with wine lists, and they felt no need to return to refill wine glasses. Charcuterie plates were sad - bland meat and cheese selection, all in very small portions. Other small plates were uninspired as well. All in all, we were made to feel unwelcome. Not a good feeling for a restaurant - especially not a restaurant carrying the Rouge name.

We've lived in the neighborhood for 9 years and never ventured there. It was a great surprise. Food is incredibly delicious. We arrived at 6:45 which was the time of our reservation, and our table was ready. Our waiter was exceptionally dedicated, not intrusive. Prices were not a bargain, but it was worth every penny.

First trip to Bistro Rouge. I found my main, the risotto, to be very greasy. We were reserved for 6:30 on a Friday. Our waiter was absolutely frenetic and tried to upsell us on everything. They really try to spin people through this place. Not impressed.

our waitress was extremely negligent in her service- we had to wait constantly for any service at all and she seemed to give the impression she was above her job. The food was good but I was surprised to find very little lobster in my lobster dish- it was more of a pasta dish and not very much of it either. Very disappointing as we had looked forward to our evening as a celebration. Very strangely, also, we smelled pot several times which is not something you would expect in a restaurant of your calibre.

  • Poor and Unprofessional Service

We just walked out in the middle of the appetizers. Why? 1. inadequate service (2 servers waiting on 14 tables - I counted) - this is not McDonald's. 2. server was in such a rush that he talked like a tape recorder in fast forward mode while not paying attention. If I want to be in a stressful environment, I can go back to work. 3. While opening our wine, the server suddenly left and checked on another table. He was still holding our bottle of wine!!! 4. My soup arrived lukewarm and needed to be reheated. The taste was also sub-standard. The server didn't even ask why I barely touched the soup and just took it away. When I brought the subject up, he didn't want to listen. He responded, "I have other customers to serve".

Food was very good, and waitress was also great to have as our server. Only notation I would make is if you make a reservation, make sure it is in the dining room and not the bar area. We were disappointed they set us in the bar as the dining room is MUCH nicer

Always good food and service. Was a little disappointed with the Chef's special Saturday night. A 4 course meal all picked by the chef. Portions were very small and the combination chosen was a bit unusual. Next time will stick to picking my own menu items. Price for the Chef's special was $60/couple.

Chef's menu was a spectacular 4 course surprise offering ( appetizer, soup, entree and dessert) for $60 a person. Each course was multi layered in flavours, the best quality ingredients , very innovative presentation and a real treat !! The service was impeccable, water glasses filled in a timely low key way , and an appropriate amount of wine poured throughout the meal ( all too often the wine glass is filled initially and the customer has to drink sparingly to make it last). We will definitely come back to Bistro Rouge for special occasions or just for an evening with friends where we can talk and be guaranteed a fine dinner and evening.

A hidden gem with delicious food and great service. The owners came out to ask how our evening was which was a nice surprise. I later googled the owners and learned Paul Rogalski was on Iron Chef America. Highly recommend the gnocci with bolognese all made from scratch and the cauliflower fritters with hollandaise sauce. The food and service were amazing and very close to home. Will be back

Went with my two kids and husband. My husband ordered the hamburger and loved it. The fries were a particularly big hit with us all. They have a mesquite seasoning on them that has a bit of salt and a hint of sweet. My son had two orders of the spatzle and we only brought a bit home to snack on later. My daughter and I shared a number of appetizers and thought they were fantastic. We have been before and we will return! Only wish they were open for lunch!!

My husband and I tried their new tasting menu and we both loved it. It was 4 courses which was the perfect amount of food. I had the wine pairing with my meal. I really enjoyed how two courses were paired with one glass of wine, as oppose to tasting menus where they have one glass per course. I also felt the price was very reasonable for a tasting menu. I can not wait to go back and share this restaurant with friends and family.

This was our third visit to Bistro Rouge. Food was just as good as every other time. What was different is that the food came out very quickly. Granted we were there for an early dinner and the restaurant hadn't filled out yet, but the speed it came out was virtually fast food like. Will go back.

We'd been to Bisto Rouge before and they missed the mark on our meal. The waiter was uninterested, and had to be prompted to tell us about the special. He also not able to answer our questions about the menu very well. The food was not as good as previous times we've been and the coffee wasn't hot - we had to send it back (seems the waiter was surprised we were telling the truth - he came back to the table to tell us he checked and indeed the coffee was not hot - no kidding that's what we told him!) The music was also odd - 50s pop music and too loud!

Good was good, portions were right, presentation was good for the most part (didn't enjoy eating salad out of a jar). Despite having a reservation for 4 we were placed in the front of the restaurant in a separate area in what felt like an overflow part of the room. It was an uninspiring dining experience as a result and you felt closed in. The soups were pretty good, the chicken dish was also good, the NY steak was done nicely but the meat quality was average. Overall good, but for the cost at the end of the evening the experience ended up being average because of poor seating arrangement.

Yes, OK is a fair comment I think. I pause as I think the main place, Rouge in Inglewood, is truly great so worry my expectations are unfair on a bistro by the same people? I think I have taken that into account especially given the hefty pricing--for a bistro in the 'burbs. The "lobster soup" did not taste of lobster at all. The "pork paillard" was OK I guess. It seemed odd to have a very French menu--sort of--with a room full of photos of Paris with such North American ingredients. Yes, it is just OK really with long waits between courses.

We went to this restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. When we got there we were advised that there was a private function occupying the prime seating area of the restaurant which has views to the outside. We were seated in an interior area which was a bit like a cave and exposed to the kitchen which was noisy. The staff was clearly focused on the private function, which took away from our enjoyment of the event. Food was OK, but pricey (example: the burger was $17.00, but for an additional $6 you could have fries on the side.)

My wife and I visited this restaurant to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary after several friends had recommended it. The menu looked good and the ambiance was nice. I was disappointed to find my medium-rare steak to be cooked medium(almost medium well) and it seemed that other guests beside us were having similar issues. I'm not sure if they were having an off night, but its disappointing that it was on the night we were trying out for the first time.

Food was great but portions were quite small, definitely not enough for a guy's appetite. Nice food combinations, nice appetizers and variety in choice of entrees. Our choice of wine was not available and I feel that unavailibilty of wines should be communicated when handing customers the wine list. Our server was paying far more attention to two other tables than to us, it took a long time before he returned to take our orders. It did spoil the atmosphere to some extent, fortunately we were with very good friends who more than made up for the server.

The food tasted great! To be fair it was a busy Father's Day so we were located in a less desirable part of the restaurant near the front door in an area that felt more like a hallway. It was fifteen minutes before we were served water and our food order was taken 35 minutes after we entered. The waitress was pleasant although not really familiar with the wine list. $36 per steak was the fare.

I believe the restaurant could do better if it had enough service staff on or used trained staff. This is the second time I have been seated on the bar side and the service has been sub-par. It is about expectations. When you are charged premium dollars for your food, your expectations on service are higher. This restaurant is charging too much for the food and service. Trying to be high-end but failing on the service side.
