Diner Reviews
  • "Our server was one of the best I've ever had! Food was very good. The only thing that was distracting was the constant yelling from the kitchen that orders were ready. If this is the new ambience I would reconsider."

  • "Two of us had the flat bread pizza and they were very tasty. One person had the burger which he thought was yummy. The salmon fish tacos were just okay and the sweet potato fries were not hot. The individual who had the taco dish would probably not get it again. All in all a good meal once again at Bistro."

  • "Bistro never disappoints!! They have the new spring menu out… and it is fabulous. Grilled lamb rack, crab and lobster salad..wow! And that's just what I had … the rest of my party was equally delighted. We will be back..."

  • "Great find off of Main St Blowing Rock. Great scenic drive through picturesque neighborhoods. Knowledgeable staff exceeded expectations. Must try if only in Blowing Rock one evening. Fairly priced for all occasions. We will definitely be coming back!"

  • "We had a birthday celebration there for my Mother-in-Law. The food was great, the service was great, and everyone had a great time, including the kids (12 yrs old and 8 yrs old). Two of the adults had seafood: a seared Bass with potatoes, which was excellent. The others had crab cakes, Cuban crepes, and one of the wood-fired pizzas. All of these were very good. Wine for my Mother-in-Law was recommended by the server based upon her food order, and it worked out very well."

  • "...the whole state. Wonderful creative menu, but not super extensive! I had the salmon and my husband had the swordfish special. Both were beautifully presented and delicious! Would definitely go back again and wish we could tonight! Unfortunately, vacation is over and we are back at home. Can't wait to go back. Oh, and the atmosphere and service were great, too. Brooke was our waitress and was outstanding, very personable and attentive."

  • "My wife and I dine at Bistro 3-4 times a year as it is a bit of a drive for us. As usual, the foood was very good and what you would expect for the price range. About as good as it get's in the Boone/Blowing Rock area in my opinion. Great place to dine outside once the temps warm up a bit."

  • "We love bringing visiting friends to Bistro Roca - our Saturday evening dinner was terrific. My wife was pleased with the selection of sparkling wines, we shared a roasted broccoli salad, our friends had a braised short-rib dish and I had one of their wood-fired pizza's; service was terrific - the whole experience reinforced that it was a good decision to go to Bistro Roca, I'd recommend it to others and we'll come back."

  • "We dine At Bistro Roca on a regular basis--our "go-to" spot for a quiet dinner for the two of us or when we have the entire family--always consistently good."

  • "Have been here many times. They have a great enclosed deck area with windows all around, comfy chairs & a gas fireplace. The menu is not very extensive, but the selections are always good. They use locally sourced food, have a wood fired oven and the wait staff are always attentive."

  • "I love Roca! I have been there many times over the years and have had a consistently good experience. Food is unique and amazing. Bar is hopping and fun. Brunch lunch and dinner are all good times to go. Variety of menu is good for light food or full dinner. Staff is friendly. And it's in a cozy setting off the main touristy area of blowing rock."

  • "Great local spot. Parking lot needs a lot of work. Food is mostly good. Have had some bad experiences but seems to be improving. Lobster mac and cheese is fabulous. Service has not been great the last few years but the last 2 visits the servers were extremely attentive and we were very happy with our meal. Ask for Betty Anne. She did a great job and seemed very informed of the menu and had great suggestions."

  • "This is a beautiful place with a unique menu. We took our son, who attends App State, and his girlfriend, here for dinner and we had a very special evening. The hostess graciously accommodated our request for a particular table, our waiter was helpful but not intrusive, and we all enjoyed our meals immensely."

  • "My wife and I were made to feel special from the moment we walked in. Our server was very helpful in suggesting various items from the menu, and he was spot-on with his suggestions. The calamari was succulent and wonderfully seasoned, and my mac-and-cheese with lobster was terrific. Overall it was a great dining expereince, and we will definitely go back next time we're in Blowing Rock."

  • "This was our second time at Bistro Rock and we were as amazed as the first time. The menu is awesome and there is always new items. The restaurant has a cozy, cabin-like atmosphere with all the wooden decorations. Our server was also amazing, and we were taken care of greatly, even though we arrived near closing time. Will go back anytime."

  • "As Blowring Rock residents, we eat at SS frequently. Last night, we began with the SS Salads with house dressing. The house dressing (can be purchased upon request) is so good that we always use it on salads when we have guests in our home. For dinner, I chose my all time favorite comfort food, Bernie's Meatloaf, with root vegetables and green beans. I never ate meatloaf until I tasted Bernie's! My husband chose salmon with candied tomatoes, mashed potatoes, and asparagus. He raved about the candied tomatoes and the dinner in general. Our favorite waiter, Will, was at the bar, so we were well taken care of by other favorites, Paige and Samantha. It is a pleasure dining there! Reservations are a must on weekends~even in the winter."

  • "We were visiting Blowing Rock for 3 days and we dined for 2 lunches and 2 dinners at Bistro Roca. If the restaurant was open on Tuesdays, we have have dined there even more. Very enjoyable food flavors, great burgers, and very attentive staff. We briefly talked to the owner in the bar at lunchtime, and was happy to hear of his investments in Blowing Rock. Hopefully that indicates Bistro Roca will be there the next time we visit. Keep up the good work."

  • "My daughter and I went to Bisto Roca Bistro Roca came highly recommended by the Westglow as well as friends who frequent Blowing Rock. the service was very slow! our waiter was not very attentive. We tried to catch his attention on more than one occasion and it was if he was trying not to attend to us. My food was delicious! I ordered the chef special. My daughter wanted a hamburger. She ordered it medium well. it was so cooked that the edges were not even edible. WE asked a family how their experience at Bisto Roca They (wife, husband and duaghter) said their service was good and their steak was big but very "fatty." They were not very impressed with the food. so..................there you have it. Scale of 1-5, i give it a 2.5"

  • "Although we have lived in the area many years, this was our first time for dining at Bistro Roca. What a pleasant surprise it was. The The handsome oak panelling, lighting, bar, patio, and dining area created an immediate feeling of warmth and relaxed ambience. The service was excellent from the time we were greeted upon entry through the meal, dessert, and exit. The menu was varied with salads, appetizers, and entrees that were tasty variants of familiar dishes that incorporated significant proportions of locally sourced ingredients. Our food was attractively plated, of excellent taste, ample quantity, and very reasonably priced. We plan to return often and look forward to bringing guests with us in the near future."
