  • "Unique neighborhood gem...always a lovely experience. Whether for a romantic dinner or Sunday brunch, the food and service are consistently top drawer!!"

  • "Went on a Friday night and the service and food impeccable. The noise level was very loud for such a pricey, romantic restaurant."

  • "Family dinner (all kids are now over 21) to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had a group of 6. The service was wonderful - very friendly and professional. Everyone at the table ordered something different and each dish looked very appetizing. Everyone was very happy with their meal choice - there was no complaining. We each ordered a different dessert and shared - I must say that I loved the creme brulee best, but if you love chocolate, the mousse was decantly delightful! If dinner has filled you up, there is always room for some sorbets, which was refreshing and smooth. The staff made us feel very special and the evening was very enjoyable. I have a fantastic dining experience every time I visit Bistro L'hermitage."

  • "Both I and my companion ate every bite of our entrée and salad--proof that the food was very tasty and nicely prepared. The service was very good, too. Only the ambience of the place makes the price tag of dining there seem high. The ceilings are low, the tables are very close together, the nick-nacks are everywhere. We fell into a conversation with the people at the next table because we were so close together that ignoring their presence began to seem rude. Had we paid less for the experience of dining there, we would likely go back. But not at the current prices."

  • "I took my husband here to celebrate his birthday. We were pleasantly surprised that such a nice restaurant was hidden amongst the residential homes in Woodbridge. When I made the reservation, I requested no dairy and gluten free. Immediately, upon seating us, the waiter said that he knew about the special request and made suggestions of the menu options based upon my request. We were very impressed with that. The food was delicious as I had skate fish, which I never had before. My husband had NY Steak, which was also very tender and cooked just the way he liked it. The one negative thing about the whole evening was the cold temperature of the room. It was a hot night, but the room was very cold. Try the chocolate martini. It was delicious!"

  • "With the extremely limited other-than-chain dining options in Woodbridge, Bistro L'Hermitage is a complete gem!! I had gone to brunch here once before over a year ago with my girlfriends and thoroughly enjoyed it, and just made it back for dinner this past Friday. My friend got there first (I was running late for our reservation), and she loved the bartender - she gave her her own individual snack bowl while she waited, and was very sweet. She also accommodated my tasting of a couple of wines before we were shown to our table (the wine was wonderful, btw). The service was warm and impeccable, and the food was excellent! I had a particularly stressful week, and I left the restaurant feeling so relaxed and peaceful. Highly recommended!!"

  • "The service was great, attentive and friendly. Although our entrees were nothing to write home about, the appetizers were quite good and the desserts were excellent, especially the rhubarb and cherry sabayon gratin."

  • "Second time here for dinner. Service excellent. Food was very good but I thought the filet wasn't as good as the last time we were there. The ribeye special was a little tough but tasty. Sides, soups and salads were very good. Great place for a special occasion."

  • "We have dined at Bistro l'Hermitage on many occasions. As with this visit, each entree has been outstanding, with exceptional service. We had two pan roasted salmon specials. They were perfectly cooked, moist throughout, and expertly seasoned. Bistro L"Hermitage menu is extensive, and delightfully, we have found it difficult to make selections due to the very tempting specials. On more than one occasion we changed our selection from the standard menu to a nightly special offering. Our overall experience has been that any item offered has been outstanding."

  • "My wife and I share a birthday, and we came here to celebrate. We brought along our 3-yr old and infant daughters, and Bistro L'Hermitage accommodated us wonderfully. The hostess placed us in the perfect table for kid-wrangling, and our waiter was attentive but not cloying. The food was excellent, and we are looking forward to scheduling a romantic evening with just the two of us in the near future."

  • "We went for our anniversary and couldn't have been more pleased. Very attentive staff. Very good food. We've known the location since it was a run-down Chinese Food restaurant and were blown away by the how beautiful they made the place."

  • "A very enjoyable evening - traffic delayed our arrival 20 minutes past our reservation time, but a call ahead to the restaurant was much appreciated. This is a small restaurant with an inviting interior. No one in our party of six (ages 18 to 82) had anything but praise for their appetizers, entrees and desserts."

  • "Yay, a destination restaurant in Occoquan. We had brunch which was delicious and reasonable. We started off with smoked salmon to share and I would love to go back just for that. There was a variety of brunch dishes, my husband had the eggs benedict and I had the steak and eggs with toast points. Both dishes came with fried potatoes. Service was attentive, the restaurant decor is quite nice and relaxing. It was a bit crowded because it was Father's Day but we still felt as if we had our individual space. The Bloody Mary's were a bit on the pricey side but they probably use top shelf vodka. All in all a good local deal."

  • "Upon entry, French decorations with fresh flowers on every table. Loved by the locals and deservedly so. There were many unique, delicious choices. Each course was excellent, presentation was beautiful and portions were the right size. The staff was wonderful. Since it was our anniversary, they gave us free homemade ice cream with a candle. Memorable. We plan to return soon"

  • "Dined to celebrate a 55th birthday with a group of 7. We were in the area because of a boating adventure at a local marina. Would easily drive there from DC because it is that GOOD. Actually, excellent. Everything about the experience was exceptional. We're now BIG fans and are planning our next rendez-vous!"

  • "We always feel like family being welcomed home when we brunch here. Fantastic food at its freshest, and perfect service; always attentive to the needs of the table but never intrusive. While dining on smoked salmon and sipping a mimosa, one can slip away to a lovely French bistro. What could be better than that?"

  • "Bistro L'Hermitage is our 'go to' for special occasions and whenever we want a very, very special treat. The service, food, atmosphere are outstanding with a particular attention to detail. Our daughter is 11 and a very picky eater but she is always able to find something delicious and always asks when are we going back! If you are looking for delicious food and a wonderful, inviting atmosphere, you have to check out this little gem that's not too far from DC, on the outskirts of the Historic Town Center of Occoquan, VA. 5 stars all around! We will be back again...and again!"

  • "Nobody is perfect but we have become used to that here. Yet this time, nothing was quite there-good but not great. Service and the kitchen were very slow- our usual 2 hour stay turned into 2.5 hours. The crispy oysters were not so crispy, the lobster tails were far over cooked and tough-they had to be returned (new one came out immediately and were good). The red snapper special was not missing something. And as luck would have it we were taking friends out to dinner as a treat and had bragged about how fantastic L'Hermitage was. Expecting GREATNESS and got only GOOD."

  • "We have been wanting to try this place for awhile. We went with friends before a show at the Lorton Workhouse. Although this is the kind of restaurant you want to linger, we let our server know we had a show to get to. There is a good selection of wine by the glass and we all enjoyed our selections. The appetizers and entrees were all good especially the filet. We did'nt have time for dessert. We plan to come back for a leisurely dinner soon. This is a very charming place with excellent food and service. "

  • "We were celebrating a birthday and invited long time friends to share the occasion. It was a first time for my husband and I to visit Bistro L'Hermitage and it met all our expectations. Service was impeccable, food was presented with elegance, and was not only presented with a beautiful plating, but was as delicious as it appeared. I would have given 5 stars for the entire meal, except my potatoes (pomme frites) were a bit heavy with oil. Salads, soups, entrees and desserts were all 5 stars! Coffee and freshly baked bread were palate pleasing. The four of us had lived in France and the authenticity of what this restaurant presented was equal to those actually in France. Bon appetite!"

  • "another wonderful experience - calves liver perfectly cooked - oyster and scallops were perfect too"

  • "excellent food; excellent service; excellent, although expensive, cocktails...The bread is delicious - a true French baguette - you can buy a large baguette for $4 - I took one home and enjoyed half the next day with dinner and froze the other half for another day. The onion soup had a very flavorful base, much better than many restaurants and my husband loved the special potato tarragon soup. I had the duck breast - perfectly cooked as I ordered and he had a chicken napoleon - interesting layering of thin crispy pastry, chicken and warm boursin cheese. The dessert crepe that day was filled with very ripe berries and a raspberry coulis. We would definitely go back. The only complaint was the background music was just a little loud."

  • "I brought my wife and mother for a Saturday brunch based on a recommendation from a friend. We were all thoroughly delighted. This place is a real gem. The décor is beautiful, the staff is warm and friendly, the service is outstanding, and the food was excellent. We will definitely be returning and recommending this restaurant to others. Try this restaurant for a relaxed weekend brunch or any special occasion. You’ll love it."
