Diner Reviews
  • "The food is very good, many small dishes from which to choose but the service is slow, surly and condescending. With many other restaurants available we will not be returning for such a negative personal experience."

  • "The food is delicious and nice presentation. Attentive service,"

  • "We have been here several times and have enjoyed it each time we were there. The first time we had tapas, entree and dessert. I am not a dessert person and prefer the variety tapas offered, so subsequently we had a dinner of tapas and got to try lots of different foods. There was something for everyone tastes."

  • "Good meal. The paella was terrific. Menu could be updated."

  • "Five of us had lunch there this week and we were all pleased with the meal and service. Salads were mostly ordered and enjoyed. I had the steak sandwich and it was good, another had the hamberger and loved it."

  • "Good food and service, nice drinks, great sangria.... Worth a visit, even for drinks at the bar and some appetizers."

  • "Bistro Latino is a fun tapas place, with a variety of tasty small dishes to try and share. The waiters are all very friendly and cooperate with each other to bring the food and drinks. My kids particularly enjoyed the lamb chops. The seafood paella was a bit dry, but tasty nonetheless. Very easy to get to if you are staying at the Hyatt Regency a couple of blocks away."

  • "The food was yummy. Wait staff very attentive. Overall my husband and I really enjoyed our dinner at Bistro Latino. We will return again."

  • "Nice décor, delicious meal, very pleasant waitstaff made for an enjoyable evening for two of us! First time here and will be back. Menu has lots of options for cold/hot tapas, cheese/meat plates, salads, main dishes and a good drink variety complete with a variety of sangrias. We had a "charcuteria & queso" starter that was beautifully presented and very tasty. We followed with a tapas sampler that included Duck Quesadillas, Oysters (with lime mojito sauce), seared sea scallops (one of our favorites), chipotle cinnamon roasted pork and sautéed spinach. All were wonderful! We probably didn't need it but we split a vanilla flan for dessert and that too was delicious. The menu has lots of variety and we look forward to sampling more!"

  • "Great service, good food and friendliness characterized our evening. I can recommend it for a group event or an evening with a friend, partner or business colleague. Nice to see a non-chain restaurant succeed."

  • "We were met with a very modified menu instead of selections for 2 tapas, 2 entrees, 2 desserts from the REAL menu. This was never disclosed up from Living Social. The food was decent, certainly not the best I've had, but I felt I was take advantage of. If your restaurant is looking to bring in customers thru coupons, you should allow for full access to the whole experience."

  • "enjoyable menu and food. No complaints. noise level very acceptable."

  • "There's about 100 latin/tapas restaurants in the Fairfield county area. With prices being so high at each restaurant because of all the competition, it's hard to find the truly great latin/tapas places-- but Bistro Latino is absolutely one of them. The authentic food is a mix of latin and new american flavors. No need for families to shy away from this place because of the spanish-named dishes on the menu-- there are choices on the menu for everyone. Our favorites were the parmesan truffle fries, calamari with a roasted tomato sauce, bbq duck confit quesadillas, and the star of dinner was the baked mac and cheese with mushrooms and ham. The romantic setting, smaller groups and less noise called for a very relaxing evening. "

  • "A great place for tapas and wine; attentive and helpful service. My whole family loved the croquettes, both crab or quinoa, they were delicious! Our favorite tapas was the duck quesadilla…it's a must!"

  • "The food was great and the service was excellent. Unfortunagley the music in the dining room was too loud so people spoke louder and louder as the evening went on. I could not hear across our table and there were only four of us. Bar music is one thing but the dining room volume should be lower or off."

  • "A previous reviewer praised Bistro Latino for it's "tasty tapas." We concur completely. Our favorites included the Ostiones a la Parrilla (grilled oysters), Costillas de Cordero (pan-seared baby lamb), and the surprise hit of the evening--so good we ordered another--was Macaroni con Queso (mac and cheese with truffle oil). Never bothered with the main courses, the tapas were that good! The service was attentive, but unobtrusive and if our experience is any indication, there are some little known gems lurking on the wine list. We finished two bottles of Otto's Constant Dream Sauvignon Blanc which proved to be every bit as good, if not better, than our usual favorite, Kim Crawford. Located on the site of the old Boxing Cat!"

  • "Along with the great food, the service was top notch! We went for brunch on Mother's Day and we enjoyed ourselves. We'd definitely go again :)"

  • "The food here is very good, especially the tapas. The restaurant is very popular so the noise level is high, but the energy is upbeat and fun. I highly recommend the ceviche and the tuna appetizer."

  • "Very nice selection of tasty tapas. We really loved the roasted (baked) oysters...plump and cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed the tuna tartar the spinach & chick peas and the flatbread with mushrooms. The service though was a bit helter skelter. We got our delicious Crema Catalana, but our coffees never arrived. We were then presented with the check (coffees charged to us) ,then, after we showed the waiter we were being charge for coffee drinks we never received, the coffees came. I would go back for the food...hopefully next time the service is better."

  • "When we do not want to drive to Portchester NY and Sonora, we go to Bistro Latino owned by the same chef. The tapas are wonderful and the service was great. Always try the flatbread pizzas, terrific."

  • "A friend and I returned to Bistro Latino for the tapas and we were not disappointed. This was my second time visiting this warm, welcoming spot. Service was attentive at first, but as the restaurant got busier, we were lost in the crowd. But the lack of attention was more than compensated by the plates of tapas that arrived as delicious waves of yumminess. Especially loved the spinach with chickpeas, golden raisins, pine nuts, & roasted garlic and the bacon wrapped dated stuffed with valderon blue cheese. We will be back!"

  • "I went here on a date with my boyfriend. The staff was attentive, from the managers down to the busboys. The mora margarita and maracuya jalapeño margarita are must-trys. The decor is warm, inviting, but definitely a bit seductive. All in all a wonderful experience."

  • "Food is always delicious. Our waiter was very good and a fun fellow. But still the service was a little spotty. Still, we will return. The tapas and the entrees are so well prepared. So many good tapas choices, it was difficult to choose!"

  • "Had a group of 8 people for a 7:30 reservation. We ordered many small plates and the food was simply fabulous. However, I think it was at least 10-15 minutes before a server approached us even to take a drink order. One of the reasons we decided to order a number of small plates as opposed to following that up with entrees is because we thought it might take them another hour to get us a server to take that order. The restaurant was not full, although there was an event going on. Still, they simply have to do a better job at attending to their patrons. I will think twice about going there if I know I'll have impatient guests."

  • "The tapas were were excellent, inventive combinations of ingredients. The main course halibut special was cooked to perfection. Best fish I have had in a long time. We went early (7pm) so it was quiet, but later in the evenings the bar scene gets going as well and the restaurant is also noisier. Great place!"

  • "This was our first time at Bistro Latino. Food is very good and different. Surroundings are cozy. I'd recommend for anytime dinner out or dinner with kids or to go out with a group."

  • "First time here from a recommendation, 4 of us celebrated a birthday dinner here. Love the variety of tapas both hot and cold. Difficult to decide but great for sharing. The portion of seafood in the paella far outweighed the rice and the chorizo which was perfect for our liking. The grilled oysters were a bit more on the raw side than expected and although my friend asked for no cheese on her salad, it came with cheese on it anyway. But overall the food was very good and the portions were perfect. The service was sufficient but the wait staff not the friendliest. I am glad we went early because it did become loud just like all the other restaurants are now. I will return to this restaurant."

  • "We went to this restaurant for the first time but we have been to Sonora (its sister restaurant) several times. We love the tapas dishes and decided to try Bistro Latino as it has a different menu. We ordered the sangria with pomegranate which tasted very good except it had very weak alcohol content -- almost tasted like juice (the reason I didn't give 5 stars). We ordered 7 tapas including wild mushroom, lamp chop, duck quesadilla, spinach with garlic and chickpeas, scallop with bacon, skirt steak flat bread. They are all very good. We also shared a chocolate cake for dessert which was moist and just melted in the mouth."

  • "After you get past the chill of the hostess the rest of the staff is great. and a pleasure through the night. All tapas ordered were great and they nicely paced them for us, some popular places don't. The grilled oysters were outstanding. The Paella looked great, will order when we return and we will return. Very disappointed the promoted Flamenco dancers were cancelled but still was a very fine night out. Bistro Latino seems to be a place many pass by, It's a nice place to treat yourself to an easy fine bite or a full dinner."

  • "We have dined at bistro Latino several times and-always enjoy it. Noise level can get annoying when a ear by party has one or more loud talkers or hyena laughers. Go early."

  • "we love all of Rafael Palomino's restaurants. The food is phenomenal, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The main room is uncomfortably noisy as the night wears on (even before the flamenco starts!). Suggest asking for the fireplace room which is very small but much quieter."

  • "great little plates to have in home neighborhood. Especially good - mushrooms, lamb chops, french fries(!) beet salad, mussels. smoked turkey queseda. EXCELLENT wine. An elegant drink, nibble and chat destination."

  • "My fiance and I wanted to leave the city for a little getaway. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency nearby but were not in the mood for hotel food. I used my phone to search restaurants in the area and Bistro Latino was highly rated. It was close to the hotel but many reviewers claimed it was VERY busy and popular....nervous about dining without a reservation I clicked on an OpenTable link and had one in minutes! *happy dance* The food was moderately priced and DELICIOUS...though the menu was limited...as a biracial Black and Dominican couple we anticipated particular dishes and were slightly disappointed with the limited selection! The service was pretty good and we will definitely return."

  • "4 of us had dinner there this past Sunday. Absolutely fabulous from start to finish. The white sangria is the best I've ever had. All of the tapas we tried were fresh, tasty and delicious. I highly recommend a visit!"

  • "The food in this place and their coffee is fabulous. Only problem, you never quite get what you order. This is the second time we were there and the second time, we were not getting all the food we ordered, or the correct coffee for that matter. At least they didn't' charge it either. On Saturdays when they have live music (music was great) forget to be able to carry a conversation."

  • "Arrived promptly for our 7pm reservation, waiter was slow to take our order. There were always a ton of wait staff but our waiter seemed to be missing. The food was decent but not amazing. We ordered our apps, dinner, and dessert all at one time so they could have easily gotten us out of there in under an hour. But they didnt hustle. Not once did we feel rushed, then out of no where the maitre de comes over and says "I'm gonna need the table can u take your drink to the bar" ....we were flabbergasted! My husband had about 2 sips left of his wine and then we were leaving anyway... Was totally shocked.and offended. Wasn't goin to return anyways but this made me feel I needed to warn other diners."

  • "Easy place to go to if you're in the area. Nice staff, but meal was not memorable. Cold meatball tapas, tasteless oysters, good lamb chop small plate, decent chicken dish. Wouldn't go out of my way, but okay for a restaurant challenged neighborhood."
