A word from the Chef
Chef Rafael Palomino, born in Bogotá, Colombia and raised in Queens, New York – current resident of Bedford, New York – is in the midst of expanding his restaurant empire! Since the beginning, Chef Palomino's restaurants have been a hit. In 2000, Chef Palomino brought his cuisine to Westchester County, and opened Sonora in Port Chester, New York. Today Chef Palomino's roster of restaurants includes: Pacifico in New Haven CT and Center Valley, PA; Tapas on Main in Historic Bethlehem, PA; and his latest creation: Bistro Latino, in Old Greenwich, CT.

  • "Had a group of 8 people for a 7:30 reservation. We ordered many small plates and the food was simply fabulous. However, I think it was at least 10-15 minutes before a server approached us even to take a drink order. One of the reasons we decided to order a number of small plates as opposed to following that up with entrees is because we thought it might take them another hour to get us a server to take that order. The restaurant was not full, although there was an event going on. Still, they simply have to do a better job at attending to their patrons. I will think twice about going there if I know I'll have impatient guests."

  • "I went here on a date with my boyfriend. The staff was attentive, from the managers down to the busboys. The mora margarita and maracuya jalapeño margarita are must-trys. The decor is warm, inviting, but definitely a bit seductive. All in all a wonderful experience."

  • "The tapas were were excellent, inventive combinations of ingredients. The main course halibut special was cooked to perfection. Best fish I have had in a long time. We went early (7pm) so it was quiet, but later in the evenings the bar scene gets going as well and the restaurant is also noisier. Great place!"

  • "First time here from a recommendation, 4 of us celebrated a birthday dinner here. Love the variety of tapas both hot and cold. Difficult to decide but great for sharing. The portion of seafood in the paella far outweighed the rice and the chorizo which was perfect for our liking. The grilled oysters were a bit more on the raw side than expected and although my friend asked for no cheese on her salad, it came with cheese on it anyway. But overall the food was very good and the portions were perfect. The service was sufficient but the wait staff not the friendliest. I am glad we went early because it did become loud just like all the other restaurants are now. I will return to this restaurant."

  • "We went to this restaurant for the first time but we have been to Sonora (its sister restaurant) several times. We love the tapas dishes and decided to try Bistro Latino as it has a different menu. We ordered the sangria with pomegranate which tasted very good except it had very weak alcohol content -- almost tasted like juice (the reason I didn't give 5 stars). We ordered 7 tapas including wild mushroom, lamp chop, duck quesadilla, spinach with garlic and chickpeas, scallop with bacon, skirt steak flat bread. They are all very good. We also shared a chocolate cake for dessert which was moist and just melted in the mouth."

  • "After you get past the chill of the hostess the rest of the staff is great. and a pleasure through the night. All tapas ordered were great and they nicely paced them for us, some popular places don't. The grilled oysters were outstanding. The Paella looked great, will order when we return and we will return. Very disappointed the promoted Flamenco dancers were cancelled but still was a very fine night out. Bistro Latino seems to be a place many pass by, It's a nice place to treat yourself to an easy fine bite or a full dinner."

  • "we love all of Rafael Palomino's restaurants. The food is phenomenal, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The main room is uncomfortably noisy as the night wears on (even before the flamenco starts!). Suggest asking for the fireplace room which is very small but much quieter."

  • "My fiance and I wanted to leave the city for a little getaway. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency nearby but were not in the mood for hotel food. I used my phone to search restaurants in the area and Bistro Latino was highly rated. It was close to the hotel but many reviewers claimed it was VERY busy and popular....nervous about dining without a reservation I clicked on an OpenTable link and had one in minutes! *happy dance* The food was moderately priced and DELICIOUS...though the menu was limited...as a biracial Black and Dominican couple we anticipated particular dishes and were slightly disappointed with the limited selection! The service was pretty good and we will definitely return."

  • "The food in this place and their coffee is fabulous. Only problem, you never quite get what you order. This is the second time we were there and the second time, we were not getting all the food we ordered, or the correct coffee for that matter. At least they didn't' charge it either. On Saturdays when they have live music (music was great) forget to be able to carry a conversation."
