  • "The restaurant is centrally located. It has spacious seating area with tables and good lighting. The wait staff is courteous and very attentive. The food offered for the lunch buffet was very good and balanced with vegetables, salads, meats and a variety of carbs. The buffet was constantly replenished and everything was well presented in terms of aesthetics. The bar has an excellent wine and specialty drink selection. The music provided on special nights in association with the Jazz Initiative is a definite plus."

  • "Very good food, tasty, creative but portions were small. Decor is very nice, simple and sophisticated, authentic. You have the feeling to be in a big city. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Excellent wine (Rosé Wine from Provence was delicious)."

  • "Great lounge/bar area. Siting comfortable and modern. A lot of menu options but over priced for the plates. This is the only reason I would not frequent this establishment"

  • "Went there for a first date and the place makes an impression - eclectic, trendy but with good food and great service. Andrew has been my waiter the past three times I have been there and he is awesome. Ironic facial hair, just the right amount of ink and a thorough knowledge of the menu. Great drinks at the bar and the small plates were awesome (gnocchi was off the charts tasty) . Only complaint was the short ribs were dry last night - had them before and they were great but last night's were disappointing."

  • "Overall, this is a great place. I feel as though they were understaffed as the service was severally lacking. The server was nice, but looked to be managing 10 tables. Several tables around us sat for 5-10 minutes waiting on initial contact, and we had to wait long periods to get coffee or anything else we had asked for. The food was spot on. Everything was great, with the small desserts being perfect. Looking at them, you'd fear tiny muffins being dry or little thought put in them, but they were a hit w/ my friends. Moist, buttery, creamy...all you'd expect from a dessert. I stuck to the other foods on the buffet, and everything was well cooked, and I highly recommend skipping the bacon and eggs and just go for the french toast and waffle."

  • "Two friends and I went on Sunday and making a reservation SO saved us time. Great spread, as always! Plenty of choices for a vegetarian like me. Jalapeno mac & cheese was great, as was the beet salad, scalloped potatoes, and sauteed veggies. The fruits was fresh and delicious!"

  • "We went to the restaurant after a show. Our waitress was wonderful. Very knowledgeable of the menu and wine. All 3 of us loved our meal. Only negative was were we were seated there was no lighting. When it got dark it was dark in our corner."

  • "Excellent evening, Food was delicious, our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and gracious. The waiter celebrated my cousin with his favorite cocktail. The evening was enjoyed by all."

  • "So far this is the best fine dining restaurant in Plaza Midwood. The service was great and we loved the atmosphere. The food was hit or miss considering the prices, but I am interested to return for brunch."

  • "We had an excellent time at Bistro last Friday night celebrating a simple date night. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine and started with the cheese board and the duck salami. The flavor profiles were beyond perfect. We continued with the mussels and beef tartare which were great picks however do not recommend the short rib. The service was attentive but a little pushy at times. Overall we highly recommend Bistro La Bon to all my family and friends."

  • "We took my mom here for her birthday. I'd been here twice and absolutely loved the food, but we were very disappointed this time. We ordered 8 different small plates for the 3 of us. The basket of bread that was brought to us was so hard we couldn't even eat it. Our waiter saw us struggling with it and brought us a fresh basket - our reservation was at 5pm and I swear I think it was bread from lunch or the day before - it was that hard. The mussels had to be sent back because they were raw inside. The duck had absolutely no flavor at all, very disappointing. The short rib was literally a piece of fat in a bowl. It was awful! I will say, the gnocchi were excellent and the rosemary chicken was done very well. Overall, such a disappointment."

  • "We have been two times for Brunch. Food selection is plentiful and delicious - especially the chocolate waffles! Really enjoyed Bistro La Bon!"

  • "I had eaten at Bistro la Bon for dinner several times - always very unusual, unique and very tasty. This was my first time for Sunday Brunch and it was super good. The selections did remind me of the old-time smorgasbords - not just brunch-y stuff - thus they named it correctly. The best things - - the asiago grits, the jalapeño mac and cheese, the sausage gravy biscuits, the cranberry scones, the French toast and the coconut macaroons - - clearly go hungry. The chocolate waffles were not my favorite - but that just may be me. You should note - this smorgasbord is only served on Sunday - Saturday is order from the menu brunch. Do get a reservation."

  • "I enjoy Bistro Labon for dinner. They do a nice job. Their brunch was fair at best. The eggs and bacon were on the same par as waffle house. If you are going to cook to order do something with them. The french toast and waffle were good. The buffett was also fair. The best item was the smoked salmon. The rest was just filler food/starches. I will not go there again for brunch."

  • "Don't let the Family Dollar next door or the railroad tracks behind scare you away! It's actually a really good restaurant. We lived just around the corner in the nearby apartment building. It was so convenient we just had to try."

  • "The food was the best feature. The small plates offered were tempting; everything from mussels to lamb belly and interesting pairings of roasted beets and arugula appealed to all of us. Unfortunately, two of our four can't hear well, so conversation was limited. Lots of young families with well-behaved infants and children were there; most patrons were under 40."

  • "Bistro LaBon is a great brunch spot in the Plaza Midwood area of Charlotte. I have been multiple times, and the food is fantastic! The short ribs on the Brunch Menu are melt-in-your-mouth fantastic!"

  • "We had not found anywhere in Charlotte that we love for brunch and had given up for awhile. I saw a small review of Bistro La Bon and I thought we'd give it a try. We were impressed with the ambiance when we walked in, but the brunch buffet looked pretty small. However, there was much more than appeared at first glance - there was more than enough variety and everything was delicious. It even satisfied my incredibly picky 16 year old vegetarian who couldn't get enough of the macaroons. My favorites were the meatball and the mac and cheese was the best I'd ever had."

  • "I came to this place as recommended by a coworker that spoke so highly of the place. Because we had never been there we didn't know we could order things "from the kitchen" as well as have food from the buffet. We found out from our neighbors sitting beside us and still didn't know what to order as there was no menu present. Our waiter never told us anything!!! The food was sub par and everyone in my party left still hungry (after paying $20 per person). Wasn't a good experience."

  • "We went to BLB on a Saturday night, relatively early. We were seated promptly. The menu of small plates and entrees was enticing, and execution of the food lived up to the menu. The room is a little noisy (acoustics,) but didn't impact our enjoyment of the meal. Our server was very polite, and knowledgeable, but we felt it was slow; I'm not sure if it was too many tables, or the bar or kitchen. Regardless, we will be back!"

  • "the location was a bit questionable - near a $1 type store and near a pawn shop. But, inside it was nice and the food pushed everything else out of mind."

  • "We've been here several times for brunch and eaten at the bar. This time, we got a reservation and had a grown-up table! I was disappointed in the service - we had to wait so long to get our water and order coffee that the hostess noticed and came to our rescue (thank you!). The mimosa took so long we'd thought we'd forgotten to order it. This was a typical Sunday crowd, and clearly another server was needed. The food was, as always, outstanding, though I wish they;d put little syrups on the tables. The kitchen can't know how much anyone wants. The ambience is great overall, but the table by the restrooms can never get more than 3 stars :)"

  • "As always the food was terrific, but this visit the service was not what it usually is. Sunday Bruch was full and there was not enough staff. Eggs and toast was not delivered not once but three times the order was placed. Coffee was not refilled and some items on the smorgasbord were barely warm. A disappointment compared to our usual experience."

  • "First time visitor. From the outside you don't expect much but when you walk in o felt I was in a restaurant one new York city. The atmosphere is very hip. The concept of small plates is brilliant, gives you a chance to try different things and not get stuffed. Very nice intimate place for a date."

  • "I had heard wonderful things and was looking forward to a nice meal. But at 815pm on Saturday night it was like going to a cave, very dark, very loud and very cold. We needed the light from the phones to see the very limited menus, 15 small plates and 4 entrees. The entrees were extreme, meetballs for $18 and filet for $38 plus fish market price and duck breast in the high 20s. We decided to take the small plates but they were rather tiny, good but not great and the prices higher than in the website. The chicken lavender was ok but the fried skin on top not so much, the lamb belly and short rib tasty but oh so very small, the cheese plate was very good. The service was attentive and efficient, best part of the experience, not worth it."

  • "I've visited Bistro La Bon three times and each of those times it has been outstanding. The service is attentive and the prices aren't unreasonable for the food you get. Of all the dishes my husband and I have tasted our favourites are the Swedish meatballs (the Lingonberry sauce makes this) and the Bourbon Brioche Bread pudding. However, we highly recommend: Crispy Avocado & Asparagus, Pan Seared Halloumi, Lamb Belly, Lavender Chicken, Vanilla Orange Creme Brulee, Flourless Chocolate Truffle Cake."

  • "Our 1st time at Bistro & it was very good. I would hope the portions were smaller due to Queens Feast than regular. I ordered the gnocchi as my 2nd course & there were 5 normal size gnochi on the plate. That app is $8-9 on reg menu & I would be pretty upset for 5 gnocchi at that price. Overall food was very good. Jalapeno martini & bread pudding R fantastic. Has a little kick but my husband who does not like things very spicy, LOVED it. He raved about it & wants to recreate it at home. One really big annoyance was no salt/pepper on the tables. I asked for pepper & the waiter cracked some on my gnocchi but I never saw pepper for rest of meal. None was offered at any point. Beet salad had no flavor of passionfruit dressing. Will try for brunch"

  • "The brunch was excellent but the service was not good. They forgot they had seated us and we flagged someone down after about 10 minutes. It took another 10 minutes to get our drinks. Then we ordered and they were out of potatoes. Waitstaff was nice though. I would try again since food was good. Maybe just an off day."

  • "My husband and I had Sunday Brunch which was delicious and nice variety. The mimosas were good and all you can eat at a good price. We will absolutely go back for their regular menu for dinner. I loved the wood bar and wood shelving decorated with wine bottles. A great find!"

  • "This was our second visit to Bistro La Bon during Restaurant Week. It's always surprising to find such a gem in a little strip mall. Their menu offerings were creative and different. As on our first visit, service was stellar and well educated enough to recommend not only favored dishes when we had trouble deciding, but the perfect glass of wine to go with our meal. The ambience is warm, cozy, well-lit, and romantic. My husband said his sirloin was the best he's ever had, and perhaps best of all were our desserts. My flourless chocolate cake was heaven, as was hubby's caramel bread pudding. Bistro is officially on our list of top ten faves!"
