  • "Bistro La Bon has a rustic charm with a downtown vibe to it. My lamb chop rested on a bed of curried lentils. I sampled the squash lasagna and the flour less chocolate dessert, but there were many other interesting sides and desserts to choose from. Nothing too ordinary. Will return, all yummy !"

  • "Drive up get out of your car and you think this just can't be the place! But the half empty strip mall with an old Family Dollar share the location with one of the most eclectic small plates restaurants you could find anywhere. So go, close your eyes when you park and walk inside you will be transported to a restaurant that fits perfectly in the East Village of New York or Silver Lake in LA. It's worth the trip!!!"

  • "The brunch food was delicious! The only drawback was the service. We literally had to chase our waitress for every request. She was so quick to come and go without providing us with the essentials. Other than that, it was a great experience."

  • "We went for father's day brunch. The food was excellent and the service was good. It was very busy but we got good service. It's a little pricey and the coffee is not included with the buffet but the food was very good. I will definitely come back."

  • "We had guest in from the Washington DC area and we took them to Bistrp La Bon! They loved it! The service was great and the food was great. We also introduced them to the Bread Pudding and they loved it!!!"

  • "Excellent small plates with innovative blending of flavors and textures. Hard to find anything comparable in Charlotte. Desserts are also a high point. Good selection of local beers on draft, interesting variety of wines at fair prices. Well worth a visit - just 5-10 minutes from Uptown. Service needs minor refining."

  • "Don't be turned off by the Family Dollar Plaza location! The food is excellent-small plates of mussels in saffron cream, lamb chops, Frito Misto, and artisanal cheeses were all delicious. We took two teenagers and our 22 year old and everyone enjoyed their meal. "

  • "We loved our dinner at Bistro La Bon! They have a one-of-a-kind menu featuring incredible dishes. My friends & I ordered several tapas to share. Every dish we shared was excellent! My favorites were the frito misto & the lavender chicken. You must save room for the desserts! We shared the vanilla orange creme brulee (soooo good) and the flourless chocolate truffle cake (incredible) ! Highly recommend Bistro La Bon to foodies! "

  • "The atmosphere was great with plenty of spots for a quiet romantic dinner. Menu is excellent and with "small plates" available it is a big hit with the ladies. We chose to dine on several items from the small plate menu to get a feel for the variety. Presentation was perfect and each dish was just enough to give you an opportunity to really experience the flavor of the food. The salad plate with the artichoke dip was wonderful to start with and the gnocchi was to die for, I highly recommend it. On the list of must return soon!"

  • "On a recommendation we went for a brunch celebrating a friend's graduation. The hostess was friendly and accommodating but the service was slow. The menu seemed limited (for Sat brunch) and the food came out luke warm. We weren't impressed, especially for the cost. Won't be going back for brunch."

  • "I have gone to brunch here approx 15x & have noticed it going downhill. The Sunday brunch includes, in addition to the buffet, French Toast, Scrambled Eggs & Bacon & Belgian Chocolate Waffles. For a table of 4 we were given 1 slice of French Toast, & one quarter of a waffle. For a table of four! I know I could ask for more & they would bring it but what a hassle that is to do. I think we should have gotten 2 waffles and 2 slices of French Toast to start. It is so busy it is difficult to get a waiter back to ask for more. Brings me to point 2, this place has become crowded, chaotic & loud as it has become more known. We could not have a conversation over the noise. Food is good though. Still the French Toast ever! Dinner is quieter."

  • "I've been several times, and usually closer to noon when they have $3 mimosas. This time we went at 10:15. Be a use we beat the rush, we had the best service ever. 4 different servers were attentive, and added to the fun. The food, as always, was on point. The smoked salmon is worth the price alone, but add in some French toast and grits and you'll be a happy camper too. The bacon and eggs are just ok, so if you can bypass those breakfast staples, go straight to the buffet. "

  • "Loved asparagus and avocado, lavender chicken and gnocchi. Friend had beet salad, baked brie and scallops and liked all the dishes ordered. Drinks were good too! Skipped dessert however was seriously tempted. Wait staff was fine. Both of us were freezing and wishing we had brought sweaters...we might of stayed for dessert and after dinner drinks but wanted to get outside and warm up!"

  • "We spent Saturday night before Mother's Day at Bistro La Bon and really enjoyed it! As realistic vegetarians, we had plenty on the menu to choose from and the small plates and salads were fantastic! Bar was hopping and the restaurant did a great job keeping the pace with all tables. Definitely going back!"

  • "Why when the restaurant is empty, we still are walked over to the worst table. When we asked to change, the woman seating us said that the others tables were also reserved. The waiter came over and was nice enough to let us move to a different table. Thank you. The menu style completely changed to tapas. Some good choices, but the risotto was not to our liking. They took it off of bill. Would go back now that we know what to expect."

  • "Met a local there for a business dinner, the food was great. The selections are not something I would normally order but I'm glad we went, the food was great. Our server was great, he paid just enough attention to make sure we were taken care of but he didn't over do it. "

  • "My family and I visit Bistro La Bon about once a quarter for their Sunday brunch. We had family in for Easter and wanted to take them to a special place to dine. My first choice was Bistro La Bon. The food was delicious, I especially loved the new Lamb Chops. Mars was our server and he too was a great addition to a lovely experience. We will be back."

  • "The food was ok, nothing special.for the quality and amount of food it was over priced. Other Charlotte restaurants deliver the same quality at a better price and location."

  • "The restaurant is centrally located. It has spacious seating area with tables and good lighting. The wait staff is courteous and very attentive. The food offered for the lunch buffet was very good and balanced with vegetables, salads, meats and a variety of carbs. The buffet was constantly replenished and everything was well presented in terms of aesthetics. The bar has an excellent wine and specialty drink selection. The music provided on special nights in association with the Jazz Initiative is a definite plus."

  • "Very good food, tasty, creative but portions were small. Decor is very nice, simple and sophisticated, authentic. You have the feeling to be in a big city. Staff very accommodating and friendly. Excellent wine (Rosé Wine from Provence was delicious)."

  • "Great lounge/bar area. Siting comfortable and modern. A lot of menu options but over priced for the plates. This is the only reason I would not frequent this establishment"

  • "Went there for a first date and the place makes an impression - eclectic, trendy but with good food and great service. Andrew has been my waiter the past three times I have been there and he is awesome. Ironic facial hair, just the right amount of ink and a thorough knowledge of the menu. Great drinks at the bar and the small plates were awesome (gnocchi was off the charts tasty) . Only complaint was the short ribs were dry last night - had them before and they were great but last night's were disappointing."

  • "Overall, this is a great place. I feel as though they were understaffed as the service was severally lacking. The server was nice, but looked to be managing 10 tables. Several tables around us sat for 5-10 minutes waiting on initial contact, and we had to wait long periods to get coffee or anything else we had asked for. The food was spot on. Everything was great, with the small desserts being perfect. Looking at them, you'd fear tiny muffins being dry or little thought put in them, but they were a hit w/ my friends. Moist, buttery, creamy...all you'd expect from a dessert. I stuck to the other foods on the buffet, and everything was well cooked, and I highly recommend skipping the bacon and eggs and just go for the french toast and waffle."

  • "Two friends and I went on Sunday and making a reservation SO saved us time. Great spread, as always! Plenty of choices for a vegetarian like me. Jalapeno mac & cheese was great, as was the beet salad, scalloped potatoes, and sauteed veggies. The fruits was fresh and delicious!"

  • "We had an excellent time at Bistro last Friday night celebrating a simple date night. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine and started with the cheese board and the duck salami. The flavor profiles were beyond perfect. We continued with the mussels and beef tartare which were great picks however do not recommend the short rib. The service was attentive but a little pushy at times. Overall we highly recommend Bistro La Bon to all my family and friends."

  • "We took my mom here for her birthday. I'd been here twice and absolutely loved the food, but we were very disappointed this time. We ordered 8 different small plates for the 3 of us. The basket of bread that was brought to us was so hard we couldn't even eat it. Our waiter saw us struggling with it and brought us a fresh basket - our reservation was at 5pm and I swear I think it was bread from lunch or the day before - it was that hard. The mussels had to be sent back because they were raw inside. The duck had absolutely no flavor at all, very disappointing. The short rib was literally a piece of fat in a bowl. It was awful! I will say, the gnocchi were excellent and the rosemary chicken was done very well. Overall, such a disappointment."

  • "I had eaten at Bistro la Bon for dinner several times - always very unusual, unique and very tasty. This was my first time for Sunday Brunch and it was super good. The selections did remind me of the old-time smorgasbords - not just brunch-y stuff - thus they named it correctly. The best things - - the asiago grits, the jalapeño mac and cheese, the sausage gravy biscuits, the cranberry scones, the French toast and the coconut macaroons - - clearly go hungry. The chocolate waffles were not my favorite - but that just may be me. You should note - this smorgasbord is only served on Sunday - Saturday is order from the menu brunch. Do get a reservation."

  • "I enjoy Bistro Labon for dinner. They do a nice job. Their brunch was fair at best. The eggs and bacon were on the same par as waffle house. If you are going to cook to order do something with them. The french toast and waffle were good. The buffett was also fair. The best item was the smoked salmon. The rest was just filler food/starches. I will not go there again for brunch."
