  • "We made 10:30am reservations and upon arrival were told that the kitchen doens't open until 11am. On top of that we were expecting a brunch menu as indicated on the website but were told brunch is only on Sunday, not Saturdays. We were not compensated for it. The service was slow. No one ever came to check on us. Drinks took a long time. The waitress was disengaged."

  • "Not only is the food fantastic but the wait staff is very educated on wine/food pairings...down to the finest detail. Very impressive."

  • "Great restaurant with great atmosphere. It's great food in a relaxed environment--not stuffy at all. You have the try the flaming tomahawk! The steak was perfectly cooked and the side dishes were amazing. The short ribs were phenomenal as well. The service was excellent too. I can't wait to go back."

  • "Attended brunch on Sunday. My healthy egg white omelet was swimming in oil, I could hardly eat it. I received one piece of bland toast. The coffee was terrific"

  • "been here several times and always love the drinks (though strong) and the food All the cocktails are delicious and they wine list is very strong. Food wise, the salads and apps are delcious...I love the macaroni and cheese which has a bit of saffron. The halibut and ratatouille sliders are great. I think all the fish dishes are wonderful. Haven't tried anything yet I haven't liked."

  • "Went here for Vday. Prices are great for the type of service, quality, and size of meal you receive! The BF and I both went with a huge NY Strip. Cooked perfectly medium, as requested. Unique set up-with all steaks, you choose the cut of meat, temp, and then pick 3 sides and 1 sauce, out of 4 categories of choices. I went with a kale tabouleh salad (amazing), roasted brussel sprouts (literally the best I've ever had... the BF even admitted liking them), and fingerling potatoes. Shared a ginger pear martini... very different, good, and quite strong. Have a decent looking happy/reverse happy hour that i will definitely be checking out. Meal was under $40 pp, and for quality & content i count this as a win for nice night out!"

  • "Casual fine dining at it's best. Can't say the soup course was exciting, but it was presented beautifully as is everything else. The sliders, mussels, Brussels sprouts, green beans— all better than average. It's small, but lacks intimacy which is fine… you go here for a great meal. Romance is optional. It's high paced + energetic. Very vegetarian friendly."

  • "My husband and I dined at BJ's for Valentine's Day. There was a special tasting menu, and you could also add a wine pairing. My husband did the wine pairing, and we found the pours very generous. The food was amazing, I especially enjoyed the stone crab and caviar appetizer and warm lobster and pear salad. We ran into friends who said their dinners were fabulous as well, I think you can not go wrong! A special touch was a perfect red rose, presented at the end of the dinner, how fun!"

  • "My wife and I have eaten here several times and it is one of our favorite newer places. The food is great, can be somewhat inventive and the service is always really good too. Not sure if they were just busy, had too many new people working, new chef? Our waiter was a nice guy and fairly knowledgable but went missing for long stretches. We ordered some specials which were generally really good. The crab wonton special was good but the lobster gratin was amazing. I ordered a surf and turf with the sea bass and a 4 oz strip. The sea bass was wonderful and the steak (have had great steaks here before) was seared crispy on the outside and bright red on the inside. The red part was ok but I'm not a big fan of the char on the outside."

  • "Went to Bistro Joe's on Valentine's Day with my wife. We really enjoyed the food. The chef is very creative. We have eaten there one other time and enjoyed the "tacshimi" appetizer and had it again. It's like a miniature taco with sashimi inside, sauce, etc. I can recommend the tuna version for sure. They have a variety of beers on tap and a large wine list, so nobody will go thirsty. It can get a bit pricey, but worth it for a special occasion. We will be back."

  • "The food was fantastic. The tacushi is a must get appetizer, we had both types (crab and tuna). My wife and I both preferred the tuna but I still enjoyed the crab variant. Our meat was perfectly prepared, medium as ordered. The filet was like absolutel butter to eat. The ribeye was very good as well. Accouterments were settled neatly into a wooden plank, a very neat setup that worked well. Service was really interesting, we had some real snafoos but were well taken care of after the mistakes occurred (wrong main fare arrived and before apps, then wrong apps *hence trying both*). Round of drinks and apps were removed from bill and service improved as the evening continued. Will return! The tacushi is worth another trip alone!"

  • "I worried about this place, what with being perched above my favorite local high end grocery store. Would the food taste just like the prepared foods I often bought from Papa Joe's. No! It's much much better. This is my second visit, and both meals have been delicious. I love that they serve traditional old school escargot here. Hard to find in this neck of the woods. Filets were great, sides are delicious. And if you're in the mood for a very rich seafood dish, I recommend the cataplana, though it could have used more lobster and less mussels. My only gripe is that the desserts are not of the same standard as all the other foods. Otherwise, splurge away."

  • "Started out with some sort of fancy fish taco things.. Very good according to other people in my group (I don't eat fish). Ordered a Cosmo which is not made with the same vodka shown on the martini list- be sure to specify vodka preference when ordering. Got the French Onion Soup... The best I have ever had and I always order French onion & have made it before myself. Tasted the pickled vegetables which were good. Tasted sliders a which were fun to eat & really yummy. The desserts were good but nothing to write home about. Service was very good and the manager even stopped by to ask how things were going."

  • "For a restaurant in an upscale market this was done well.....the food is high end for fairly reasonable prices...the wait stafff was knowledgeable and helpful in decision making....for vegetarians it had incredibly good options."

  • "Great and varied options for dinner. The sea bass was great Friday night. Our server was engaging and quite helpful as it was our first time there. We sat on a deck which was enclosed and a little cool but was fine. The spring, summer, fall would be great with the option of the open air. Really enjoyed the hand crafted cocktails very cool choices, great beer selection and wine seclusion. Definitely will return with friends in the future."

  • "The food was delicous and the service was great. We went with a large group and tried multiple things. The Spicy Tuna Tacushi was wonderful, the crab one was ok--tasted fishy to me. We loved the procciutto flatbread, charcuterie, and steak frites. The bistro salad was fine but not a stand-out salad. I will be going back again!"

  • "Excellent food and presentation but seating is a tight fit."

  • "The food is excellent and presented beautifully. The prices are high for the ambience since it is casual but has 'top of the line' prices. I went twice in 2 weeks. One time the service was ok, they were busy. The second time the service was excellent, there were not many people there. I love the placemat napkins. I don't like the 'presentation' of the bread. It is cold and you have to put your hands on it to pull it apart because it is not sliced all the way thru. This is awkward if you are with a dinner party of new friends."

  • "The food was delicious. We ordered sea bass, salmon and the halibet. The french onion soup was the best we've had at a restaurant. We split the beniets for dessert, just as good as New Orleans. Good wine selection. Waiter was very helpful and made some good recommendations. I would definitely go back."

  • "The restaurant was fun, the food was very good, The view for where we were was looking at Woodward and into the store. Compared to other restaurant with about the same food quality, the price was a little to high."

  • "We enjoyed dinner at Joe's, although it was more expensive than expected. The menu was imaginative and ingredients fresh. Our table overlooked Woodward and we were warm despite the cold temps outside (in the summer the balcony will be open air). We had hoped, though, that prices would be moderate since Joe's is affiliated with the market, however no such luck. As a result, we'll be back, but only for special occasions and not as regulars."

  • "We have dined at Bistro Joes several times now. The food is excellent. My husband had the sea bass and I had the ahi tuna tartare tacos. Both items were exceptional. (The forbidden rice under the sea bass was amazing.) Our service was just so-so this past week, but prior to that our service has always been very good! Great restaurant, I know it will be on our weekly rotation!"

  • "We dined here on NYE, it started off a bit rocky after requesting a table change from the solarium (which was really cold) to a nice table for two in front of the kitchen. The wine we ordered was not available so the manager offered to take my husband to the cellar and he was able to pick any wine at retail, plus a corkage fee which really is a great option to have! My husband had the short ribs and I had a filet and both were excellent. The portions are very generous and the Chef came over to make sure we were enjoying the food. The service was excellent and we would recommend Bistro Joe's highly."

  • "The food, staff and overall experience is always exceptional. The staff is friendly, considerate and always ready to do whatever they can to make your experience one that feels like you are with good friends who want you to enjoy and relax. As for the food the flavors, combinations and presentation are creative, unique and perfectly delicious! Chef creates a flavor sensation with foods we all know and enjoy, but adds his own brilliant combination of flavors that delight in every way."

  • "While I would like to get started with a few complaints- I won't. I treated a dear friend to dinner in celebration of her 50th birthday. She thoroughly enjoyed her meal and beverage. Me-not so much. The fresh lemonade was good- (I mixed mine with sprite) but I ordered the evening special which was some type of creole dish with a good selection of prawns. While I enjoyed 3 prawns and endured 2 fork fulls of the remainder of the dish- i could not stomach the rest. The noodles were limp and soggy. The server described that the sauce was a light white wine -however it was more of a thick ,creamy, overly spicy gravy. I left feeling illl because of the richness of the dish. For the price, I must admit sadly..I was underwhelmed/unimpressed."

  • "This was our first time there, and myself and my wife loved it!! Because it was first time, we decided to get the Saturday Special. The Flaming Tomahawk Steak Dinner for Two. It was fantastic, and cooked to perfection. The sides that came with the dinner were great! From the Mac and Cheese to my wife's favorite, the brussel sprouts. Be warned though, the price is based on the current market, so it was a bit expensive, but worth it. We should have realized it was expensive, because quite a few staff members kept asking us how it was. :-) Give the place a try, our server was fantastic, the food was great, and the ambiance was amazing. Definitely a great place to eat..."

  • "Service was aggressive. Wasn't able to enjoy a drink without being interrupted constantly to order food even after explaining multiple times that we weren't ready to order yet. Had steak and fries came out cold and fries were soggy and tough. First time there. Would not go back. Would have been more tolerant of some of these things if the price points were lower."

  • "We eat all over town at all the new places. The food and staff (thanks Matt) are great, but if you like very loud- chosen-by-a-15-year-old- techno kid- then Bistro Joes is for you. The music, which the manager said, when asked? "It's pandora, it's techno. Everyone here is hip." Yes, there were Detroit Lions there. Yes there we're see and be seen local celebrities . But the "bistro" and $125 steaks concept do not need "chunka-chunka" music. It was like eating at the Nectarine Ballroom."
